Add another forehead Kacchan to the collection
Well Happy days; AFO is gone and his conclusion's left me feeling pretty vindicated about all the slander I've been saying about him.
Not only did we confirm he never had a chance to control Shigaraki again because it's seemingly confirmed that Tomura really did kill the original quirk's vestige (which the plan to retake control looked to hinge on), but I think we can pretty definitively say for certain that AFO's not the final villain now that he's gone without a trace of him left. Tomura doesn't even care about him too much anymore, I mean thanks for getting him here but he's got his own things going on that're more important that AFO's creepy plot lines.
Though I gotta say, even I'd started to doubt he'd legit die before he even got to the Shigaraki v Deku fight. Like wow, tripped right at the end there didn't he? What an embarrassing failure to end his life on...which I guess makes it a pretty perfect note to conclude the life and times of All For One.
Goodbye you little shit.
this chapter was everything

Thanks For The Memories
Manga: September 9, 2009 – April 9, 2021
Anime: April 7, 2013 - November 4, 2023
I can't be the only one who noticed this, but while Armin is doing an Extra (TM) dramatic speech about them being Survey Corps, Annie very flatly says: I was Military Police, and Armin just keeps going which was absolutely hilarious!
you know their relationship is all bickering and fun after 3 years!!
This is the face of a man
so fucking tired!
I'm actually really happy they extended Armin and Eren's final conversation in the anime and think it flows infinitely better than it did in the manga, but I also liked how it highlighted a very important aspect of Eren's character that alot of people in the fandom forget.
Above all else, Eren is a slave to his own childish nature and selfishness that stems from his need to be free. Regardless of how much freedom he will take away from others.
As much as he want's to believe that he committed such atrocities for the sake of his loved ones, it doesn't change the fact that he still put them all in danger, and people he cared about still died in the process. In the end everything that happened was because he was a slave to his own nature. His own selfishness to be "free" no matter who he had to hurt.
And that's the tragedy of his character, the moment he realizes this, it absolutely destroys him.
I also love how Armin's way of comforting Eren is way better than in the manga. He doesn't try to make him feel better over his actions or make him find some comfort from the results of those action, but instead he tells him that even if he'll find eternal damnation after he dies, he won't be alone. Armin will share that burden with him and follow him into hell after he is gone. His own sins are intertwined with his best friends, and he'll make sure that even in hell they will always be connected.
Because we've been so busy freaking out over Kacchan's return, I'm pretty sure the majority of us all missed out on this one detail, so allow me: Look at Izuku's tears in this panel
And then look at Izuku's tears in the panel when he spots Katsuki:
Like. They're so much more clear. There's so much detail that you can pick out every little droplet... almost as if it were a moment caught in slow-motion... as if time stopped the moment their eyes locked
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO
How it started...
How it's going...
You wanna know what's hitting me about this panel?
I mean, besides the obvious things.
What's getting me is that it looks so much like when Katsuki looks at Izuku after their fight. It's the same angle on Katsuki.
But not only is he softer, serene, and looking relieved to have spotted Izuku...
But for me, the shot of them looking at each other after the fight, when All Might is setting them up as two halves of a whole, as the two equally important parts of heroism...
That shot of them looking at each other was the last thing I remember watching before finding myself actually shipping them. That's the shot that did it. The foreshadowing of their duality. The first look they shared where neither of them was being hostile or defensive. Truly seeing each other for the first time.
Just, openness. Being receptive. Reaching an understanding.
And now horikoshi has done it again, and made it SO MUCH MORE IMPACTFUL. Now its packed with so much emotion its overflowing. Its the first time they get to see each other after everything went to hell in their fight, its Izukus first confirmation that Katsuki is ok, and katsuki....Katsuki already desperately wanted to see Izuku again, and we know he is Chronically worried about Izuku fighting alone and hurting himself, so to see him, mostly in one piece has got to be a comfort to him, knowing that he is there now to help Izuku if he needs it. When they finally see each other we get THIS MOMENT that just screams of so many feelings in their shared gaze.
And like literally "their feelings become one"
Dare I say, it's just romantic.
The lead up of like 4 panels for Katsukis gaze to scan over to Izuku also? Amazing.
The fact that this is shot for shot echoing that moment that actually made me ship these two as opposed to multi-shipping as I had been up to that point.... I am so appreciative of that connection
I mean...tldr, I guess this is why I ship them
I'M SORRY?!?!?!? (And also sorry if I'm not active lately, because I'm so busy on my college life...TTwTT)
Horikoshi going on his 2 week break, knowing that he was about to break the fandom with the long awaited return of his most popular character with his next chapter:
