20's!verse//Closed rp
It had been Damien’s bright idea to hit the hotel that night, his plan as he put it to cut the crap and get straight to what they wanted to do. A quick score to make it big, and both would have more money than they would know what to do with. Someone else had been there though, started a shoot up and Aiden had chosen to flee the scene then hang around, leaving Damien to take the brunt of the attack and the heavy hand of whoever it was they had managed to piss off. It didn’t mean though that Aiden was out of trouble. He tried keeping his head down, keeping out of sight and out of mind, both of his former partner and out of anyone else that could possible point the finger at him. That illusion of security only lasted for so long, when some hired guns had shot up the car Aiden, his niece and nephew had been in. Jacks had gotten lucky, only managing to be grazed in the attempt, little Lena not so much, leaving Aiden a bitter wreck. He vanished out his family’s life, paying people to keep tabs on them, to keep them safe as he chased down leads. He needed to find out who had ordered the hit, now that he had one of the gunmen tracked down and stowed away for disposal later. A lead was why he was here, in the misty haze of cigarette smoke and the heavy scent of alcohol that would vanish if anyone remotely showing a badge entered the building. He scanned the room, looking for someone who would give some hint that they were the one who had been helping him behind the scene, mouth drawn into a tight line of worry as he tried not to let his hand hover over the gun tucked away under his jacket. Old paranoia, that is what it was, and he had every right to have it, after all a lapse in judgment was what caused the trouble last time. No, he needed to be alert ready to run incase this was another attempt on his life.
The nature of William’s condition was a curious one. He was, essentially cursed to stumble and slur and grope and flirt, but none of that could be accomplished if he were either dead or even unconscious. So as the cold metal of Aiden’s baton came against his throat, pressed hard against his windpipe, it seemed he’d inadvertently found a loophole.
The foggy drunk haze lifted and in a flash the older man was struggling back. He’d been taken once by Abstergo’s Finnish Master Templar, so like hell he’d let himself be caught again.
"The hell is wrong with you people—?! Can’t you leave an old man well enough—" he growled, the sound ragged and throaty. He grabbed onto the center of the baton, just inside where Aiden’s grip held and kicked back, nailing the man once in the kneecap, delivering a second blow in the form of a quick snap-back headbutt—cracking the back of his skull into the man’s nose, and with Aiden dealing with the pain of both, and quite possibly a fair amount of blood pouring out of his face, kept one hand on the baton and reached back to grapple onto the back of Aiden’s collar, throwing his weight forward and down to flip his attacker clear over him and onto the ground. "—alone!"
And while not normally one to flash the signature weapon of his brotherhood, his would have left him wide open to go for his gun, so instead, the sharp slide of metal on metal cut through the air as his hidden blade extended from where it had laid in wait, obscured by his coat sleeve. And if Aiden didn’t move as it came down, it was going to go straight through his shoulder.
Aiden connected and he rolled, dazed and blood pouring down his face. It wouldn’t be the first time he had taken a blow like that to the face or the head for that matter, boxing after all was rough and being muscle for the gangs of the area was rougher. Those thugs hadn’t had been as well trained as this though, even the hired mercenaries that had been put out by Blume paled in comparison to this.
A flash of metal as everything seemed to slow and he snapped a leg forward to kick out his opponent’s leg out from under him and rolled to get back up on his feet. The baton had fallen out of his hand and clattered against the ground when he had been flipped as he darted to grab it again as everything seemed to shift back into its normal speed.
Now he had more reason to be curious, no one had that kind of training at that age and that blade….his stance shifted as he lunged forward, hand tight around the handle of the baton as he prepared for another round of blows.

The news of Abstergo’s gain over Blume went far from unnoticed by the assassins. Even now, William’s gaze flicked up to the screen, chasing Aiden’s to catch a glimpse of the on-air report. He chastised himself, inwardly furious when he couldn’t seem to focus his attentions there, instead returning to Aiden once again. When he realized that it wasn’t just thought and basic reactions that had betrayed him, but his will entirely, the man went on high alert, a shade away from panic.
As far as he was aware, the only thing that could strip a man of his will was one of the artifacts from the First Civilization. An Apple perhaps.
However, as Aiden laid down his offer, William inward recoiled as, instead of a rebuff springing from his lips, he found himself finishing a shot with a practiced ease and meeting the man halfway, the gray scruff of his beard lightly scraping the side of Aiden’s cheek.
"An offer I can’t refuse." His hand was back on Aiden’s thigh, squeezing.
Fuck. Fuck.
And he was grinning something lazy and languid, his thumb stroking over the denim of Aiden’s jeans. “Lead the way.”
Normally when a hound was sniffing about it was always more prudent to lead it away from the den, but Aiden was a fox in alias only. He forced himself not to pull his hat tighter against his head to shield his face from on lookers. Even if what good name he had wasn’t exactly coated in mud, there was still those in the city that would have loved to have him dead and his brains splattered against the nearest piece of concrete. He motioned for Bill to follow, leading him through the crowds that always seemed to gather on the streets on a weekend night. It made it harder to go unnoticed, crowds also had the advantage of more cover, more chances to lead him away and out of sight. Still keeping the friendly tone from before, he pointed down one of the side streets, “If you want to escape the congestion you’re better off cutting around the backstreets.” He wasn’t too concerned with the low lifes that could lurking around, he had dealt with enough with them that he could handle anything they decided to throw at them. For now though, there was no scavengers around though, and Aiden fell back, letting the other man get a couple of paces ahead of him. In a fluid motion, he snapped out his baton and darted forward the baton going down over Bill’s head and the metal pressing against his throat as he attempted to choke him out.

Mun is around and very aware I owe things. Just bear with me today. I have a nasty case of the foggy brain which is stubbornly refusing to clear up, so I'm basically a zombie at the keys.

It was all fake.
He should have known better then to trust someone like her. It was in a hackers nature after all to be deceitful, especially someone like her. Aiden was happy he had least hadn't shown his whole hand the first time they had met, when she had asked what cracks he had found. For once his tempered flared, green eyes sparking with a cold fury that had only been seen by those who ended up at the other end of his gun. He moved in close, grabbed her by the throat. "Why,Clara? Who payed you to lure me in?"She had been one of the few hopes he had to finding out who was involved, one of the few chances he had to made sure the scum that had killed Lena knew exactly what anger and fear he had felt that day. "I.want.names."
The problem with William Miles was that there was very little info to track on the man, mostly because in paper he didn’t exist. His only records were owned by Abstergo, tucked away in a neat little corner where all of their two-legged hunting dogs waited, teeth gnashing as they tugged at their leashed.
Without Abstergo’s connection, the man was a void on Aiden’s radar. With the connection, he was William Miles. Assassin Mentor (at least by the company’s records. —he’d since stepped down, abdicating his position to Gavin.) and threat.
When he pulled back, an elbow rested against the counter, he was still unsteady, but at least now it wasn’t while draped over the man.
"I can’t offer you the finest in accommodations, but certainly the added company must be an improvement." He pushed aside his empty beer and ordered a fresh round of shots. He found himself with a collected, soft-spoken grin as he watched the alcohol be pour—realizing then that anyone he turned his attention to for any prolonged period of time was going to fall victim to the strange advances he’d begun to impress upon Aiden.
He forced himself to look away before their new round was even served and for once, he body obeyed. The desire to chase the bartender faded as he redirected himself back at the hacker.
Well, if he had to ride it out, he might as well try to relax some and save what of his will power remained.
"Drink up. We’ve got all evening."
All evening. Right, because there was really all the time in the world to get toasted and forget that you were just a puppet on the string. “Thanks.” Aiden said, attention suddenly on the screen as an all too familiar logo flashed along another tri-colored one. The buyout, he had been keeping an eye on that since someone had hired him to hack into Abstergo and send messages to two sources. An easiest job, and a good paying one too, but it just seemed strange that once he heard the name Abstergo, he kept hearing it and seeing, from electronics to pharmaceuticals to everything in between. It was almost like Blume had called in a big brother after their disastrous run. “You know…” green eyes flicked over to his new companion, mouth shaping into a slight pleasant smile, “I think it might be better to go back to my place.” The scrambler on the phone would keep both their faces out of view as he took another shot before standing close and invading the other’s man personal space, but not to intimidate but to seduce , to lure out into the open. “I know this city like the back of my hand, so it might give you a chance to look around.” Aiden smiled his best million dollar smile, breaming with all the Irish good nature he could muster. “Besides, you have to be new here and it would be a shame if you got caught up in one of the bad neighborhoods.”
