but what if I remade Flash
“Thor? Please, he barely does.” Loki muttered. “And I agree - it’s not far to label someone as something for the rest of their lives, especially if they aim to change…” He cocked his head at the boy. “What did you need one for? Call someone names?” He teased.
His shoulders rolled in a shrug before he took a seat. The white plastic of his cup went to his lips for a sip of the coffee inside. It was only then that he had figured out a way to say that his less-than-stellar nature had been worse.
“Yeah, called someone names. Shoved a head into a toilet once or twice. Wailed on a kid with dodge-balls. I was pretty much the high school bully. Or one of them at least. I was the king of pricks.”
[text] Okay.
It didn’t take long until he got there, or well, it didn’t take as long as a few hours stuck in traffic. Surprisingly it was light when they maneuvered through the streets and he finally arrived at the university. He paid the driver and gave him a decent tip before he climbed out.
[text] I’m here.
He threw a beanie on his wet hair before throwing his practice bag on his shoulder and heading out. Flash called out his goodbyes though he was really more distracted by his new - friend? acquaintance? person who was interesting? Whatever.
The blond stood on the steps with one hand shoved into his jean pocket. A glance at his phone told him that Humberto had arrived but - oh, there he was. Flash pocketed his phone before heading down the steps to meet him. “I said I was cool paying for your cab. Now you have to let me get you a coffee or a slice or something.”
“Oh yes, could there be fifty shades of grey?” He teased the other. “But I understand. If you have illegally downloaded a song on the internet, you can’t join the Avengers.”
Flash rolled his eyes at the teasing before laughing. “I’m not an Avenger, I just know they frown at some other heroes. I can’t imagine anyone but Thor immediately trusts you in that group,” he pointed out. He grabbed their coffees when they were called for and handed Loki his.
He headed for a table to sit down, shaking his head. “I just meant -- people deserve second chances sometimes. I was given one, anyway.”
[text] If you want to catch a cab here, I’ll pay it. I’m at the uni
[text] or you want me to come there?
[text] I can come there.
[text] I don’t want you to see me act like a dweeb.
[text] Lol it could be fun to watch
[text] Cool, ask the cab driver to go the south side of the uni and I’ll meet you there
[text] Midtown comics.

[text] You free today? I’m in town.
[text] Hey. Ur in luck. I just finished practice.
[text] Where are u?
Humberto had the feeling he would never become a hero. He went through all of this like it was rehab, and it had done good for him more than any other place. He smiled as he returned the phone, and just in that moment, he texted him.
[text] Hey :)
“Might want to check your phone. I gotta go because I have a class, but it’s nice to meet you.”
There was a vibrating in his back pocket that signalled he had a text. Flash grinned and fished out his phone. A quick glance told him it was Humberto, but he didn’t bother to reply yet.
“Yeah, same. I’ll see you around then,” he replied easily. He nodded and unlocked his phone to add him as a contact.
Humberto pulled out his phone, unlocked it, and pulled up his contacts. He handed it over to him so Flash could enter his number in. He needed to make more friends out of the academy. Hopefully he could be one.
“You can put your number in if you want.”
He took hold of the phone to do exactly that. He put his name in, his number, and his email. Why not? Flash pressed save before handing it back. If Humberto was a graduate from the Academy, that meant he had been a hero-in-training. At least they had that much in common.
“Text me sometime?”
“Maybe you could show me around sometime.”
The question was innocent enough, but not one that he actually expected. Nonetheless, he nodded his head with a pleased smile on his face. “Any time. I can give you my number -- you can let me know when you’re in town for it.”

He smiled. He wasn’t used to conversations with people these days. He was kind of quiet, studying most of the time, and possibly getting ready to transfer if he’s able to work out a deal in the next couple of semesters.
He looked at Flash, examining him for a second and he really didn’t know why. He wasn’t a threat, but he wasn’t half bad to look at either.
“UCLA, but I think I’m gonna transfer. New York seems like a better place to be these days.”
His life wasn’t always going to be about the military. Though he wasn’t sure what would happen to Venom, he wanted to have something that resembled normalcy at some point. So that meant he needed to get some education or something for later.
“Considering ESU gave me a full ride, I’m definitely advocating for them,” he said with a grin.
Loki looked at him, a small thoughtful look on his face. “I know what it’s like to be a prick.” He said, reaching out and placing his hand on the boy’s arm. Instantly, he was dry and warm. “And I’m glad. People usually get hung up on that.” He smirked.
He was sorely tempted to make a remark about how Loki was the rolemodel for pricks. But he didn’t. Flash only gave him an amused smile that turned into a curious look at the touch. He rolled his eyes and turned to grab their coffees.
“You could’ve done that sooner,” he complained, handing him his coffee. “But thanks. See, that good guy morality that heroes are hung up on gets in the way of seeing that there are shades of grey, you know?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
He settled his hand to his side, stuffing it in his pants pocket when he looked at the other man. “Or well, I was. I’m visiting right now. I’m in college now.”
His lips tugged into a half smile as he pushed his own hands into his football jacket. He flicked his eyes over Humberto before meeting his gaze easily.
“Which college? I’m at ESU.”
❝ cool suit, how’d you make it? ❞
“Oʜ you know, I didn’t. You?”
