BODHI NUDGED HER SHOULDER WITH his own. All this time theyâd been sitting together in silence. He didnât mind, though. The quiet was nice considering how rare these moments could be. He pulled back to leave her some space.Â
The nudge had mostly been a means to get Jyn back with him. Bodhi noticed that it looked a little like she had been staring off in the distance for a while now. Maybe her mind had drifted off to different places. He couldnât tell. Nor will he blame her. Bodhiâs mind drifts off to different places far often than heâll admit â often times he would think about Jedha, and the family heâs left and lost there.
The sensation startles her; she flinches, arms about to lift in anticipation of taking truncheons from her back and use them.
âBut they're not on her back right now, are they? She's supposed to be safe here. And apparently she is, enough to zone away, let the empty nothing occupy her mind for just a brief moment. A brief serenity, an escape from the dark cave she usually lives in in her mind. She turns to the one who awoke her, kind-hearted Bodhi who always seems to look to her with patience.
She forces a smile, but she doesn't force it too much. She doesn't need to. Not with Bodhi. "Tired," she says by way of an explanation, her words punctuated by a small shrug. "Are you alright?"
