A detail shot of Ygor Keynvor, monoprint and woodblock print on Japanese paper

‘Mist, is it mist? Arriving at midnight leaving before dawn’ Bo Juyi The Cornish coastline has been the source of inspiration for my work and this piece is a response to the dense sea mist, which so often hangs above the coast. The work is designed so that one can walk both around it and within it and has been created as a somewhat abstract translation of being on a cold sea engulfed by a very still and pressing fog, where any differentiation between water and sky is blurred, swallowed by white cloud. The prints, which hang in this space, have been created to embody the movement of the sea, the pale delicacy of the haze and the rippling of cool water. They hang in such a way that one can feel totally surrounded. The fragile quality of the Japanese paper, easily caught in a gentle breeze, has also been used to heighten the experience of being in a calm and serene environment.
