Spider in the Flowers || {Yelena & Kid}

When: Present Day {Game Time} Where: Kid's Florist {Sprouting Stems} With: Yelena @blckwidowxyelena

Kid glanced up when the bell rang above the door rang; it fit so nicely with a quaint little shop but also made for a handy warning system. Placing down the fern he'd been repotting, he looked over at a familiar face, Yelena, and couldn't help but wonder if she were familiar with him too. Whilst they stood at cross-purposes, their circles most certainly overlapped.

"Good morning Ma'am," he said in his slow, southern drawl, "Looking for anything specific on this lovely day?"

location: outside of a bar in NYC at night open starter

the world had changed overnight for vincent.

vincent brought the lit cigarette to his mouth taking a long drag. it tasted like ash. he used to like the taste of it but nothing tasted right. food tasted like shit. everything tasted like shit except blood. just the thought alone of that was stressful enough to think about that he quickly took another drag.

outside the bar he could hear the muffled sounds of music and people enjoying themselves. but he waited out in the shadows of an alleyway. waited for someone to separate themselves from the group. he would try not to kill them this time. but when he brought his fangs down into their neck it was like he couldnt stop himself.

and after everything, after years of being forced to sleep. being forced to be frozen as he was 15 years ago. he deserved to enjoy himself.

it was quick to pick off a drunk idiot stumbling from the bar and pull him into the alley. easy enough to pull the mask down over his face and to sink his fangs into his neck. he could control himself…..he just needed a little bit more blood and then he'd let him go. just a little bit more.

He was better than this job… But oh well, a quarter of a million would do. One cheating husband dead, one wife and her new lover off into the sunset with the fortune, and him with his small share. He’d followed the man into the club, enjoyed a drink and waited for a moment to strike.

When he left, it was almost too easy- but, it was only because he’d been watching the man that he saw him yanked into the ally. Narrowing his gaze, Kid crept closer and came to a pause at the entrance, arms casually by his sides. “I don’t appreciate you commandeering my latest paycheque, Sir.”

The drinking, well it kicked his heart rate up a little, “But then I suppose so long as he’d dead I’ll get mine either way.” His souther drawl lilted down the ally as he lent against the wall, “Let me know when you’re finished.”

"I think you can make an exception for me, sugarbee." A low, amused laugh emitted from her throat when Kid's eyes focused on her. "Especially because we both know I'm your favorite employer. Annnddd I got a mission for youuuuu." She sang the last part. "Believe me when I say it's a lot more fun than offing senators, which is fun, but can get boring after some time."

“I didn’t know you happened to be in the area… Or alive.” He added in a deadpan, dropping his arms and rising to his feet. “I’ve been reaching out over the past few months attempting to find a working cell with no luck.” More fool him, Hydra will always find its own. Stepping closer, he cocked his head and continued, “I do not believe I would describe this as fun so much as surviving,” Just him settling petty people’s petty squabbles for a lot of money. “What’s the situation, Ma’am?”

Kid wouldn't call it precognition nor anything else so fancy, but he'd developed a sense of when danger was near over his years on the streets- it was something he'd learned to trust even before Hydra. Sp, by the time the Winter Solider darkened his floral doorway, Kid's shoulder's were already tense and he was primed to put his limbs to use.

"Well, well, well." he said slowly, tilting his head, "To what do I owe such an illustrious visit? Here for the lily's or the carnations?"

Flowers? Why would he want to buy flowers? "Uh, no...no. No I'm good sorry um, I just wasn't paying attention."

"Oh that I think I could surmise," he smiled, the expression taking the sting out of his words, "Something on your mind stranger?" Kid asked, returning to tending the display outside his shop.

Kid glanced up from his book (a Bill Bryson novel) as the bell above the door chimed and offered the young woman a charming smile. "Well, good morning to you," he said, his tone an unhurried southern drawl, "Can I help you find anything specific here today, Ma'am?"

Placing the book down, he stepped our from behind the counter and continued, "From bouquets to single blooms, I'll be more than happy to help."

Groot liked this shop, it was great, it had many varieties of flowers, some that he couldn't see quite often. Helping and coming back seemed like a natural thing to do for Groot, truly happy to have the owner's trust in taking care of shop, to accept him like he was doing. "I am Groot!" He greeted him when Kid appeared, a big smile on his face. "I am Groot." He nodded at the question, before pointing at an empty space on the shelf. "I am Groot." He said proudly, selling plants wasn't easy! Sometimes Groot was forgetting he was supposed to ask for money, or the customers were sometimes a bit spooked by him. But this time, it went very well! No mistake, the customer left happy.

Well, he was hardly the most 'chatty' of occasional employees/shop sitters, but Kid couldn't complain. Plus Groot was always happy to him (or at least his flowers) and that in itself was nice, folks rarely saw him these days... and were happy to do so on even fewer occasions. "You sold some? Good job," he smiled, reached a hand out and patted the tree's side a few times, "Can't imagine that was easy." Even if he'd given the plant away he'd be alright, the money from his assassinations was more than enough to keep the shop afloat. "Want to help me plant some new geraniums? They just arrived and would look nice in a wide planter out front."

Unlikely Employee

When: Present Day Where: New York (Morning) - Sprouting Stems Flower Shop With: Groot @l-groot

If nothing else, killing paid enough for a day job cover.

Kid had needed an easier way to take on jobs and have some form of base aside from his few safe houses, his love of flowers came back to him in spades and the language of flowers made for excellent covert communication - thus, Sprouting Stems had been born. It was a small space that did little trade on the day compared to requested orders and he enjoyed the natural peace of it; the beauty of flowers was one of the few good memories of his childhood.

Stepping into the back his glaze flitted up at the living tree and he spoke a quite, "Good morning, Groot." in his southern drawl, hefting a bag of compost to prep some display pieces, "Everything stay safe while I was gone?" It was a strange arrangement the pair had, but his occasional employee was handy for covering the shop when he was called away.

Another day, another assassination.

Kid sighed from his perch, the city was almost beautiful at night, lit up like a dozen fireflies frozen in place. He was more focused on the job that needed doing. He was staring at the next building, where an eye, identical to his own, had sprouted looking across the street, where another eye appeared. And so on and so on till he was staring into the room of a visiting senator that several very wealthy people wanted to not make it home.

He was fast asleep and utterly oblivious to the hands that sprouted above his headboard, reaching down ready to snap a neck and-

The limbs vanished in an instant as he spun around, staring at the figure who's joined him on the roof. "Much as I enjoy hosting an intimate party, I do not recall offering your fine self an invitation." He spoke in a deep southern drawl.
