of october joys.
‘is this a date?’ adrian had been tempted to ask when jason had sent him the owl a few days ago. he was pleasantly surprised at the invitation, and he didn’t have to think long of jason’s intentions. he had been very aware of the other’s attraction for him lately, but for some strange reason, even to himself, he wasn’t sure why he hadn’t brought it up. perhaps he wanted the other man to confess his own feelings by himself, just as he had done so many years ago. so now here he was, clad in an odd mixture of a leather jacket over a light blue hoodie, and dark jeans. he had let his blond mohawk flop lazily onto the side of his head. today was a casual night, and he wasn’t looking for attention.
however, truth be told, he was a little nervous for the night. he wasn’t sure what he felt about jason, and if the latter decided to do something tonight, adrian still wasn’t sure how he would take it. he had been contemplating it late into the night the last couple of weeks. it hadn’t been an easy subject to think about, so he didn’t think about it. he spent the last two weeks staying awake until 3 AM in the morning, writing songs, playing his guitar, singing softly under his breath. it had been a while since he had gone out properly with a friend. date, he reminded himself inwardly, and smiled.
he arrived a little later than he would have liked. how bothersome it was, being unable to apparate and disapparate properly whenever he liked. he saw jason by the fence and a grin spread on his face so fast, he didn’t even realize until his cheeks started to ache. “hello,” he said cheerfully. “you chose a good night for this. there’s barely any wind.” he looked down at the food in jason’s hands and cocked his head, mildly amused. “wow, you’re really prepared for this, huh?” the corner of his lips lifted in a small smirk. “let’s go.” he started to walk past jason, his hand sliding around the other’s waist to pull him forward - but he immediately realized what he was doing and dropped his arm back to his side. why did i do that? he wondered. don’t lead him on.
these days jason spent most of his time working, the order things he had to go away and do sometimes meant he missed a lot of work, so he had to go back and make up for it later. what little time he had to himself he spent thinking... wondering. finally, he realised, thinking and wondering only get you so far.
the place was slowly getting busier as muggles turned up to view the movie. he'd never been to one of these of before so he wasn't... quite sure what they were in for. he only hoped it would be good. he glanced down at his watch, adrian was a little late but he didn't mind. he'd rather adrian be a little late, than end up hurting himself by apparating.
he looked when he heard someone walking towards him, and grinned when he saw adrian. "hey," he said, stepping towards the other man, "yeah! lucky, really, considering how close to winter we're getting." jason looked down at his arms too, letting out an awkward chuckle. "yeah... well i wasn't... sure.. i looked at one of the pictures and that's what people seemed to do so.. hope it's okay." he nodded and started to walk with adrian, pausing briefly when adrian started to slide his arm around his waist. he decided not to say anything about, though, when adrian suddenly dropped his arm. he swallowed, pointing to clear patch. "lets uh, go sit over there." he smiled, leading the way.
