Ret looks at Jean before sending Jason a glare that would make the Jotunheim look like the Bahamas. “Rule one of drinking alcohol, Jean.” she said wrapping her arms around her precious cinnamon roll of a friend. “Never do it on an empty stomach. Before we get you anymore to drink you need to have a snack. I have pretzels, chips, crackers, goldfish crackers…….. what do you want?”

Jean almost looks ready to cry, “why would you eat goldfish? They just swim all day, they don’t hurt anyone, what a cruel thing to do.” Jason has already fled, he doesn’t want to suffer retribution’s retribution. Smart man.

Ret shook her head. “No o, Jean, it’s not actual goldfish, don’t worry. They’re cheese crackers shaped like fish, and they happen to be gold in color.” she promised sitting her innocent friend down at her kitchen table. “I love sushi, but I wouldn’t do that, especially not to you.” she swore.

She walked over to her cupboard and pulled out a box before pouring some of the crackers into a small bowl and putting it on the table in front of him. “See? If you don’t like them I have some Ritz.” she then mumbled. “Jason, pick out a coffin.”

Jean carefully pokes at the goldfish in the bowl, clearly distrusting. Eventually he picks one up, “ok,” he says slowly, “i’ll trust these aren’t live fish.” He grabs a handful and eats it all at once, if someone unknowing of him were watching they would swear he had dislocated his jaw even though he clearly didn’t need to.

Ret couldn’t help but chuckle. “See? Salty crackers.” she promised before going and grabbing a glass. “Now, I’m going to get you some water, and you tell me more about how this happened and what you think should be done about Jason because of it.” she suggested, filling the glass before setting it down in front of Jean and then sitting next to him herself.

Jean moves his glass of water in a circle attempting to make it swirl and failing, “Jason should have some wine,” he eventually says, “Because it is delicious and I think he would like some,” he smiles up at Ret, “You should try some too, it’s sweet, but has a taste like,” he licks his lips trying to find the words, “like when you leave a bowl of cherries out too long and the juice slips out and does its own thing without the rest of the fruit...” he blinks, tears in his eyes, “do you, do you think Lynn’s ever coming back?” His breathing starts to deepen as the tears start falling harder, “Do you?” he sucks in a deep breathe, “Do you think she abandoned me?”

Mystery Mansion - Open

Jack sits in the office of one of his mansions, the room overlooks the front door and lawn with flowers blooming and luscious green grass despite the deep snow just beyond the property line. He gazes out across this landscape and breathes a deep sigh, “perhaps,” he murmurs softly, “It is time I invite some guests.”

He pulls out a fountain pen and some papers and starts writing out the invitations. One to @unholyretributioncomes, one to @fearlings-lament, and some to a variety of others he feels he may get along well with for extended periods of time. He carefully avoids mentioning the one detail that may prevent them from coming, after all, it gets rather lonely when you’re trapped in one place.

Ret looks down at the infant she shifted in her arms so she was holding them protectively. “Jack, I swear to God if you tell me this is my kid from the future, you are going to lose the ability to shapeshift new testicles.” she growled, holding the child close.

Jack can’t help it, he laughs at Ret’s response to the kid, “it’s not yours, or mine for that matter… well technically. I adopted them,” he looks down at the kid, “only just starting to crawl and already causing mayhem for my agents. However I’m about to go off for an important meeting, Ganizani is busy at a different simultaneous important meeting, I don’t trust my underlings to not accidentally kill the kid or get killed by the kid, and didn’t want to run the risk of Bruce trying to adopt them so I figured I’d ask you to babysit.” The baby coos making grabby hands at the vigilantes guns.

Ret kept the baby up by her shoulders. “So you asked why I was in the field?” she asked, pulling the blanket around the child. “Alright? How long will you be gone? What supplies do I need to pick up? Schedule? Dietary restrictions? I need details, sir.” she responded lightly bouncing the baby.
