Starter - Ty & Jackie

Ty walked into his favourite coffee shop and joined the lunchtime queue. His eyes scanned the room as he looked to see if his favourite seat was available, it was.

He patiently waited for the queue to move on, thankfully everyone in front of him wasn’t sitting in. He ordered a latte and a donut and paid the cashier. Once he received the items, he took them to his seat and sat down. He took a book out of his bag and started to read. His eye’s flicked up slightly when he noticed somebody familiar coming into the shop.

Jackie always liked to grab some coffee when she had time before lessons. She would take the time planning out which routines to teach and making sure all the lessons lined up. As she walked in she saw a familiar face and waived. She went to order her favorite coffee and a pastry before making her way over to Ty.  “Hey there how are you?” She asked with a bright smile, “Is this seat free?”

It would be cool if it turns into like a monthly thing. Other then CODA there aren’t really a lot of places or evenings where everybody hangs out, so it would be cool to have another neighborhood get together such as a movie night. Speaking about CODA, are you looking forward to their ‘birthday’ week? So many great things- I already have my 80′s outfit at the ready.

I think I would love for it to happen as much as it can! I know there are several shows that come so we would just have to work with that. I feel like we are so lucky to have CODA. I would love for all of us to hang out as much as possible. Of course I am! I swear I get over the moon excited for any event there. I swear I may go over the top with outfits, but I wouldnt have it any other way.

Your parents sound like mine, they did the same thing. It sure helped me get thru high school better, helped me find friends and all that. Me too; it’s easier to open up with people you know already. I’m not great with small talk which is one of the things you do when you first meet someone, right? And there’s always this little bit of doubt in the back of my mind that when I’m talking to someone new they’re doing it because they pity me, or feel obligated to talk to me - poor guy is blind, better talk to him. I know all my friends aren’t like that, but when it’s someone new there’s always that little voice in the back of my mind. Know what I mean? 

It was always nice to have that little boost of confidence and encouragement. Small talk is always tough but I am one who just loves to talk once I am started. My mind does wander but you know what at least helps me? Wondering that if things work out we would talk again or if not maybe it wasn’t meant to be. If a person really enjoys you they will stick around and it will work out and if they don’t? It wasn’t worth the time. I don’t know if helps you at all but I just love talking to you.

Becks: I know so! Add that one to the list of possible Halloween costumes, ha.

Becks: It's only the first day of our birthday week events at Coda and I'm already BEAT, whew.

Jackie: Well with a plan and people as great as us it is bound to go well!

Jackie: I am so already looking at places to find the perfect outfit for it!

Jackie: So much hard work but goodness I hope you've made time to relax now.

Gracie: Noooooooo, my particular brand of artistry is BEHIND a camera, not smack out in front of them! But I guess it wouldn't be TOO bad if you were up there with me, right? Like -- most people would be looking at you anyway.

Jackie: But you are beautiful, Gracie! A wonderful artist too so I totally understand what side of the camera you want to be on even if I think you deserve the spotlight. Looking at me? Oh my goodness you are just too kind!

They are all my favourite children and no one can make me choose, honestly. Yes! And then again around Christmas, there’s no shortage of festive holiday movies you could queue up for the rest of the neighbourhood!

Right? It is even better when you can share them with friends and family too. Oh now you are onto something! There would be so many great holiday movies. And then imagine all the rom coms we could play during Valentines day.

It’d be great, a way to extend the party while still offering the option for folks to call it a night after the movie – and give you guys a chance to clean up in peace without a bunch of stragglers. And now all I’m picturing is a Back To the Future theme for the 80s, or any number of teen movies from the 90s…

And I can never say no to  more parties, I’m sure others would feel the same way too. I mean with Stranger Things being out I feel like that will be even more popular with everyone! I mean but the 90s too, I feel like there were just so many good movies that came out then.

Yeah, there’s lots of great phone apps that help people with disabilities. Phones have gotten accommodating for the blind and the Deaf too that I know of especially. Of course, they’re my partner so it’s really not something I have to think about. In general it’s just important for things to be accessible to everybody.

That is even better, I’d hope it would continue to get better and better you know. With how essential it is to have a phone now a days you can’t go without it. It is so sweet to always have a person in mind isn’t it? I couldn’t agree more truly.

I do like it. It’s easy to use which is the biggest pro of the whole app. So yeah, I’m comfortable with using it. It takes a bit of time for me to open up and really feel at ease with new people but I do like to hang out with them. 

Well of course, I can’t imagine it is easy with big group of people. I use to be quite shy when I was younger but my parents would always encourage me to go to their parties and premieres and slowly but surely it helped. But I love spending time with people much more when its people I know and am comfortable with.

For sure! That or at least one or two movie genres/directors people like. Right? Movie nights are the absolute best! They are quickly becoming my favorite thing but I think my company may be making me love it more. But still getting to experience it as a town will be so wonderful. I swear you just listed all the ingredients to the perfect move night. 

Exactly! It will help narrow things down and hopefully we’ll find a movie everybody can get behind. Well that’s a given, movie nights with good company make it even more fun to have them. God, I tried to remember when I last seen a movie outside… I think that was when we still lived on the other side of that big ocean and my parents took us to the drive-in during summer break.

And I mean hopefully this would be one of many movie nights so even if it isn’t someone’s ultimate favorite another one of theirs would be something they like better! Yes same here! That was one of my favorite things to go and do. Something about the drive in is just a special experience.

Honestly, with enough warning, I could probably coordinate a Coda event to match, depending on whatever movie you decide on. Maybe have drink specials that start after the movie run time is up, so folks have a place to head if they aren’t ready to go home yet? I’m pretty open to any and all ideas, it’s nice to shake things up from the expected theme nights every now and then.

Becks I really don’t know how you do it! I swear you are just full of endless great ideas. I feel like having something after would be so much fun, like especially if we have a younger crowd there too. It’d give the adults a chance to have their own fun too so it could be a family friendly event. You know how you’ve been doing the decade nights? What if we do a popular movie or two from there? I think that could be fun!

Family owned shops are always the best! I like to go to family bakeries as I know all the cute little cakes will be freshly made.

Oh my gosh those little cakes are the most adorable aren’t they? It’s like you can see all the love and care they put into their work. Its a different kind of special.
