MINI BIOGRAPHY (tw: drugs, rehab, cheating, dementia)
her parents were young high school teenagers who didn’t know any better and fooled around and knocked her mom up at seventeen. the plan was to put jackie up for adoption, but once she was born, her mom decided to keep her.
however, it didn’t take long before her mom started to resent having a baby and often pushed jackie onto her parents (aka jackie’s grandparents) while she went off and did rebellious teen things like all her peers were doing.
the man who is biologically jackie’s father went off to college and never thought once about his high school ex (jackie’s mom) or their baby.
jackie ended up being raised by her grandparents and her mother was in and out of rehab while she was growing up. her grandparents eventually filed for custody over jackie since her parents were pretty much nonexistent.
she wanted to stay close to her grandparents so she ended up going to belmont university to get her license as an RN and then continued to pursue a BSN.
she came back to hidehill after graduation and has been working as a nurse for hide general family medicine portion for six months now.
she ended up engaged to her high school sweetheart, but it was a very controlling relationship and she didn’t see the red flags despite all of her friends concerns. the engagement ended last year due to her catching him in bed with another woman.
her grandfather also started developing dementia over the past year, so while she does have an apartment in hide square, she’s often found in horwick, helping out at her grandparent’s house.
Chase laughs as he adjusts himself on the passenger seat next to her, holding the box of popcorn in his hand. “It was the snacks, I know my worth to you.” He laughs, turning his head to look over at her. “It’s not a problem.” He lets her take the popcorn from him before his eyes move towards the screen. “All I keep seeing are articles wrapped around that shit. It’s probably the most dramatic cast and crew I’ve ever seen in the news.” He smirks. “You’ll watch a scary movie with me, Jackie?” He picks up his drink from the cup holder and takes a sip through the straw as his eyes drift towards her. “I bought us tickets to see the Minons. I know how you feel about scary movies and I didn’t know enough about the other movies to trust it.”

“As long as you know your place is second to this delicious popcorn,” she giggles, as she’s happy to continue teasing because they both know his friendship is way more important. A brow raises as this news about drama surrounding the film title she mentioned was something she hadn’t heard before. “I didn’t know all of that. We should form a trivia team or something because I swear you know everything,” she grins. Jackie grabs her drink and takes a quick sip before putting it back down in the car’s cup holder. “I think watching a scary movie with you would help make it seem less scary because you can just hold my hand or tell me it’s all fake, so yeah, I would.” A sigh of relief follows when he say what movie they’ll actually be watching. “But I’m glad you choose Minions. You know me too well,” she says as she looks over at him, and there’s a trace of fondness in her tone as she appreciates him and their friendship and how well they know each other. Sometimes it can be rare to find those sort of connections and she’s just happy she found one with Chase.
“ i do lock my door, thank you very much. it’s too dangerous to be an idiot right now. you, on the other hand, should not walk into people’s houses unannounced. i could’ve flipped you over my shoulder thinking you were the ‘hash slinger slasher’ or some creep. ” theresa reached over, ruffling jackie’s hair with a smile on her face. “ you caught me coming back to stand outside for a minute, get some fresh air and clear my head. i unlocked the door and realized i forgot my phone, so i went to go get it. ” she explained, tilting her head to the side afterward. “ you mean you wanna stay the night? or do you want me to drive you home? i don’t mind either. ”
“Alright, alright, your point has been made. I’m the creep for just walking in but I promise I’m no hash slinging slasher,” she chuckled, “but can you really flip people over your shoulder? Could you teach me?” It seemed like a good thing to learn in light of how dangerous the town has become recently. Two murders at one wedding? The thought was terrifying and she was glad that she didn’t go to the deadly event. “Yeah, we could all use some fresh air to clear our heads. I can’t believer there’s a killer running rampant and the police can’t seem to catch them,” she shakes her head, “I was thinking sleepover? Like old times?” A wide, excited grin spread across her lips as she hadn’t had a proper sleepover in forever. Plus, there was safety in numbers, right? That’s what she was choosing to believe despite the numbers at the wedding not providing safety at all.
Chase slips his phone into his back pocket and holds the two drinks in his hands as he tucks the tub of popcorn in the crease of his arm against his chest. He walks past some cars until he spots hers, a small smile playing along his features. All of his frustration leaves him almost instantly as his eyes fall upon her face. She’s so engrossed in the trailers on the screen that she doesn’t see the way he’s watching her. A soft thud in the depth of his chest reminds him that his heart is in there and it’s a capable of feeling something towards someone. He sets the drinks on the roof on the passenger side and pulls on the handle of the door, hearing it creak open. “I’ll remind myself that you knew I was on the lot and left it unlocked for that reason.” He muses as he places the popcorn on the seat. He grabs the two cups and slips them into the cup holder, picking up the popcorn and getting into the car. He shuts the car door and leans over, giving her a quick kiss on her cheek. “Hey.” He smiles as he pulls back, adjusting himself in the seat as he holds the popcorn out to her. “Popcorn and drinks are supplied. Did I miss any good trailers?”
It was nice to be able to catch up with Chase and not come home to her apartment and pass out on her couch in her scrubs. Days off were a rare treat that she intended on making the most of when she had them. She insisted that he leave his car on the street outside her apartment building and they could carpool in hers to the drive-in. Once they were parked in what she deemed to be the best spot, she had Chase go fetch the snacks because she didn’t want to miss any of the previews. Who knew when she might make it out here again, so the trailers were like seeing the movies themselves. She was so engrossed in the screen that she didn’t notice he had come back until the car door opened and made her jump slightly. Her heartbeat raced until she heard his voice and instantly calmed down, or at least she was calm until he pressed a kiss against her cheek and she could feel the heat of a blush underneath her skin. “Of course, I left it unlocked just for you and mostly for the snacks,” she grins as she greets him, her eyes tearing away from the drive-in screen to look at him. “Thank you for getting the snacks,” she replies as she takes her popcorn from him and rests it on her lap. “You did! There was some sort of creepy one called Don’t Worry Darling that I think they’re playing in a couple weeks or something. Maybe we can look it up later for you.” She scoops up a small handful of popcorn and shoves it in her mouth. “Please tell me this isn’t a scary one or else I’ll be hiding behind my hands the whole time.”
“ jackie! ” an unexpected surprise to say the least. theresa was a good few minutes from settling down; taking a shower, maybe having a glass of wine or something to drink before she went to bed. however, at the sound of the door, she got a little wary, understandable with everything that was going on, right? however, to her surprise and relief, it wasn’t a stranger trying to pounce on her — it was jackie. “ didn’t know you were coming! what are you doing here? ” she asked, tilting her head to the side out of sheer curiosity. she’d check her phone when she got back to it, just to see if she had missed any sort of text messages or calls.
Jackie was sometimes in Hartley Avenue more than she was in her own apartment, but she felt she still needed the place in order to have her own space to clear her mind. She was currently helping her grandmother out around their home and running different errands for them when she wasn't at the hospital. Suffice to say, she needed some company that was around her own age. She knew one of her old friends from high school lived in the area and decided to pay her a surprise visit, which was unusual behavior for Jackie. "Sorry, I didn't mean to give you a fright," she apologized with a sheepish grin, "but also, you should really lock your door. I hope you don't mind but I didn't want to head back to my apartment alone at this time of night. It seems safer to be in numbers, right?"
