Unfortunately I feel like the spoiler you did get did fuck with your expectations a bit. But I feel like the main concept here was the change in Neku's character and sometimes it's hard to pick up on that, no fault of your own I don't think. The game is supposed to leave you feeling betrayed, confused, but also feeling ok, because in the end your/Neku's newfound character development and opening up ended up changing everyone around him, even the god of the city... staying even his hand.

Ah, jeez. If I’d just played this game a month or so ago I wouldn’t even have this problem. Goddamn spoilers. Now it’s hard to tell whether it was the skewed expectation I got from that or an actual problem. Guess I’ll never know. Either way I feel like I missed the boat on tone, or at this point I was just kind of ‘tone deaf’. Which is hilariously ironic and a bit sad.

I figure though, that it’s not really meant to be a ‘resolution’ resolution. I’m at peace with that side of things. I’m just. Urgh people and their unrelated fucking spoilers

I’m kind of deflated by the end, in the sense that I wasn’t.. really blown away like I was expecting. It’s not the biggest letdown or anything, it just makes me feel weird and disconnected about it. 

It was a mindfuck, though. I wasn’t expecting to actually be right about my gut feelings. I felt so guilty - so so bad - and now I’m not sure. Damn, Joshua. You’re.. something else, all right.

It turned out for the best in the end, but it absolutely could have gone sideways in so many ways. And... arg, from that resolution, I don’t think I entirely appreciated Joshua. Which frustrates me. It kind of took away from the experience, that sort of thing didn’t really happen while I was playing the game with him as a partner.

I think the problem was, the tone was screwing with my head a bit. Like, there’s that sense of betrayal and despair Neku felt, but all of the sudden, everything’s all right, and it’s partly because of that. Or rather, everything Joshua did.

I may have just hit on the point? But ... damn was that weird. I just didn’t really have the chance to breathe in that change as it happened naturally, so it left me feeling strange about it. Like I didn’t quite process everything that I was supposed to, when I was supposed to.

In any event, I know I still got a lot of content left to look forward to, so things will become clearer. I just.. kind of wish I didn’t leave the main game in that fashion.

It starts with a soft guitar and drumming and has a short break - with just low strumming - before the actual vocal starts, which pretty much stays in the same range for a while
