....and finally the show is open.
Model of the winnowing basket working out where the etched elements are going to go
Etched elements before they were attached to the basket, with details from the Domesday book, maps and details about Stoke sub Hamdon from Kellys Directory all found at Somerset archives
Wire structure of the winnowing basket finally complete, now just the etched elements to be incorporated
Working on piece based on the breast plough that I saw at the Somerset archives. The linear structure is taken from a map of the area, whilst the text which will be etched and pierced has been from the research from the Domesday book and a newspaper article about the wages of agricultural workers

I have been really interested in different ways to reference the individuals who worked on the harvest associated with the barn. I have been researching different parts of the rich history of the site from the Somerset archives working with layers of imagery from parish records, newspapers, maps and documents, as well as folk songs which will be etched and cut through the surface, so shadows can be cast onto the ground.
Basket begins....
