We passed an old fire lookout position on the way out, so there was more peakbagging to be had before leaving Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness in Mendocino National Forest.

There were two more days of trail work. This time we worked up along the Minnie Lake Trail for one day and over to Solomon Peak Cutoff for the next. Both have challenging vanishing spots.

We had a rest day, or more accurately a free day, in the middle of the week. I headed out to tag the Bigfoot Trail before some peakbagging and got three takers for the escapade. We went up Sugarloaf Mountain, pondered Minnie Lake, then even more climbing to Solomon Peak.

Bigfoot Trail Alliance (BFTA) has many trail work trips going again this summer and at the very last minute, I got in on the one around the far side of Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness. We had a moderate hike in, a bigger hike on our "rest" day, and some working in there too.

The final day of our 3 day loop offered up a minor challenge to our return followed by a major challenge. Once surmounted, we were back to amazing high mountain walking on the side of Ray's Peak and further ridge walking back to the Hull Cabin site where we started.

Day 2 of the 3 day loop was a long way down to cross the North Fork Trinity River, which one really shouldn't rely on doing in this season, especially with a heat wave on, but was easy this particular season. The first cabin of the day was before the crossing, the second along Grizzly Creek, and the third, well, what can you expect?

Once more into the Trinity Alps Wilderness, this time to wander among many cabins. The 1st day of the 3 day loop started with flowers on the way to long sections of ridge walking. It featured many birds and burned areas to complete the day where a fire lookout once stood at the top of Cabin Peak. Except the day wasn't quite done because we did still need to get back to camp.

This was just an overnight, but not a quick one, in the West Salmon Mountains of Trinity Alps Wilderness.
Day 1 was winding along Crogan Hole Trail before finding a way roughly along McKay Meadows and Tish Tang Ridge Trails, which could be in better shape.

2nd day: Starting off fighting snow, heading north on the PCT as the trail eventually gets to a ridge line walk. We headed up, appropriately, Big Ridge for the day's destination, then returned to Paradise Lake.

The high country shouldn't be accessible yet, especially just a few days after a storm, but it was already like June out there. We headed up to Paradise Lake on the Kelsey Trail and had the popular spot all to ourselves. Hiking around once there was more limited, but possible.
1st day: Up along Kelsey Creek to Paradise Lake along the Pacific Crest Trail among the Marble Mountains.

Day 3 backpacking Yolla Bolly: Finishing the circuit with two more named peaks to tag on the way. First Blue Slide by the side of the trail just before everything got dicey. Second Horsehead Mountain where three forests and three major watersheds meet.

Day 2 backpacking Yolla Bolly: Headed up to Buck Ridge and up the yolla bolly (snowy mountains, well, mountain) of Shell Mountain. They really should all be yolla bolly at the moment.

Yolla Bolly! This time backpacking the area of Shell Mountain for three days, although the plan kept morphing.
The first day, we didn't get far. We didn't get to the trailhead for the downed trees and we didn't get to the planned camp for the fact the newly selected trail connector didn't actually exist.
