Jackson sighed softly when he realized that walking back into the room had woken Lori up. “Sorry – I didn’t mean to wake you.” He muttered as he wiped a stray tear from his eyes. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just – went to go see Elliot.” He admitted, looking down at his hands.

Lori sat up in her bed and rubbed her eyes. She hadn’t felt super tired and had so many thoughts keeping her awake that she didn’t fall deep into sleep the past two hours. “It’s fine… I wasn’t even tired,” Lori said as she held her face in her hands. When Jackson mentioned that he went to see their daughter, Lori’s head perked up immediately. “I want to see her. Now..” she told him.

“You sure looked tired to me.” Jackson admitted as he leaned against the wall, staring down at his girlfriend with a smile. He sighed when she said that she wanted to go see Elliot. “Are you sure you want to get out of bed..?” He asked softly. “She’s not going anywhere babe..”

It didn’t take Lori long to nap for about a couple of hours. To her, it felt like an entire night had swung by and she didn’t even realize it. She continued to sleep until she felt someone walk in the room. Of course, it was Jackson. She slowly woke up and moved up in her bed, her hospital gown now worn down so her right shoulder was exposed. Looking up at Jackson, she had noticed he had been crying. “Hey… you okay..?” she asked with concern.

“That’s what I thought. You know me so well,” she said with a soft smile and rested her head back on his chest. “Mhm, always,” she sleepily said as she yawned and then began to close her eyes. “O-Okay,” she responded as she felt herself get weaker and more tired. All of a sudden Lori had fallen asleep with her arms wrapped around Jackson.

Once Lori fell asleep, Jackson smiled and just held her close and let her sleep. He made sure not to move until she was fully asleep -- and once she was, he rolled out of the bed and walked down the hall to the NICU to visit Ellie. He stayed with his infant daughter, just staring down at her in tears, for a little over two hours before making his way back to the room, since he promised to be there when Lori woke up.

“Yeah, yeah, sure,” she teased and looked up at Jackson with a smile. “Are you planning something without my knowledge? Or are you saying this so I get less cranky?” she asked as she narrowed her eyes and then laughed lightly. Her laugh got even harder at his comment about her scar. “Oh my god, you’re nuts… but adorable in the cheesiest way possible,” she said as she reached up to kiss his cheek.

“Mostly just to get you less cranky.” He teased as he looked down at him and let out another laugh. “You love me and you now it.” He added when she made fun of him for his scar commentary. “Seriously though babe, go to sleep. We’ll go see Elliot when you wake up, okay?”

Lorelai couldn’t help but let out a tired chuckle and shook her head at his suggestion to sleep. “Fine. I’ll try for your sake,” she said as she rested her head on Jackson’s chest and held his arm looking up at the ceiling. “I know. It’s gonna take time to let this sink in,” she said as she tried to adjust herself on the bed, but then winced at the pain from the c section. “Shit… I forgot they cut my stomach open… great. I’m gonna love the big ass scar showing when I go back to work,” she said with a light laugh.

“Thank you.” Jack said sweetly as he looked down at her. “I promise you’ll be glad you did after you woke up.” He added as he snuggled his arm tighter around her, but still being gentle. “Hey -- that scar is going to be sexy.” He teased with a wink.

Lori’s eyes were drooping by the second, but she didn’t want to fall asleep. She had so many questions and thoughts running through her head on how to cope with this sudden change in her life. Being in Jackson’s arms was a good thing and bad thing at the same time. She could fall asleep real easily and forget about her problems, but this was no matter to forget. “I want to sleep… but god, this whole thing is stressing me the fuck out..” she said in a half whisper snuggling closer to Jackson.

“All the more reason for you to sleep, love.” Jackson encouraged his girlfriend with a warm smile as he looked down at the brunette snuggled next to him. “I know it’s hard, and stressful, and you just want answers -- but all of that is going to take time baby.” He reminded. “Sleeping is not going to cause you to miss out on anything. I promise everything will be just fine when you wake up.”
