Icebergs in the Great South Bay close to the Fire Island Lighthouse. After the recent snowstorms, it has been cold enough to freeze some of the water in the bay. There was low visibility in yesterday’s fog and rain but some careful eyes found where the ice has been gathering. 45 minutes of moving up and down the boardwalk while a small herd of deer wandered all around me. One walked within a few feet of me but was scared off by a group of people walking nearby. Warmer weather... but not by much. Photographed last March off of the end of Long Island near the Montauk lighthouse. One day I’ll get in the water too, but in the meantime I’ll admire the brave people who are surfing in the ice cold waters.
