One thing I’m confused about regarding Shadis’ backstory is how he just casually carried Eren back to the shelter without sparing Grisha a second thought. Also, how come he didn’t come across Grisha’s remaining arm? I don’t think a shifter’s human body dissolves like their Titan form when they die. Or did Eren run away from the scene before passing out?

I just find it weird that Shadis didn’t even try to go back and find out where Grisha disappeared off to. Even if he hadn’t initially found Grisha’s remainders, he would have stumbled upon them if he had went back and searched the area. And why didn’t he tell Eren what happened instead of letting the poor kid wonder about it for years? I think that was a dick move on his part. He could have also taken care of Eren or checked up on him from time to time, at least for Carla’s sake (he owed her that much after calling her a whore), but he just left him on his own and then tried to sabotage his training later on.

Also, i have this weird feeling that Shadis somehow kinda knew SOMETHING was up. Talking about Grisha cursing his son the way he had with Keith by calling him special or whatever- i can’t help but think there was more to it- that he just didn’t voice the accusation on Grisha being a titan somehow- but Keith have experience with fighting titans, i think he’d have deduced a lot more than you may think. Just never fully said it. Idk, just a thought. I’m likely off the mark by several kilometers.

Yes, both the manga and anime show Shadis finding Eren passed out in the forest when he’s retelling the story to the 104th squad.

During the cave scene with Rod and Historia, we also see Eren’s memory of how he finds Grisha’s glasses and arm (I think) after he eats him.

So now that I think about it, I guess it is possible that Eren got up and walked away from the scene before passing out.

I actually really hate that the solution to the Titan powers was just “Ymir had the choice to end it all along”. We never got answers to why Rod Reiss couldn’t inherit the Coordinate or why his mindless Titan form was very abnormal.

And we never found out how the royal bloodline even works. We know it doesn’t need to be both parents who have royal blood for it to pass on.

But yeah I’m wondering if Rod was maybe half non-SoY? Maybe having non-SoY blood messes that up. So perhaps he wasn’t Uri’s full sibling. But in that case, I don’t know how this wouldn’t affect Historia. Maybe Rod just had some other genetic anomaly.

Then there’s also the stuff with the Ackermans. They have to still be considered SoY even if their memories can’t be altered since M could hear Eren’s message at the end.

But yeah I’m guessing someone like M would probably titanize weird since she was half non-SoY.

Edit: Actually, maybe Rod didn’t want the power himself because he knew about the curse and didn’t want to die. So that could be why he was offloading the responsibility onto others. And he did consume very little of the spinal fluid so perhaps that’s why his mindless Titan was very abnormal.
