“ no need to apologize. you weren’t doing anything wrong, were you? ” he asked, giving the girl a serious look for a moment, before it melted away with a laugh, the corner of his eyes crinkling up as his lips curved. “ kidding. but really, you’re fine. i shouldn’t have stuck my nose in your business anyways, so i should be apologizing to you, ” he assured, settling into the offered seat across from the girl.

jaein held her breath as he gave her a stern look. she wasn’t one to handle situations well, but as soon as he smiled she relaxed her shoulders. ❝ ah, you scared me–– ❞ she admitted with a soft, sheepish laugh. she brushed her loose strands of hair behind her ear and welcomed him to sit. ❝ no, no. it’s fine! it must be kinda weird seeing someone with all their work out with such a tiny table. i’m jaein, by the way. ❞

“well that’s what you get for bringing your work to vacation, though i shouldn’t be saying anything since i spent my first three days here knee deep in homework.” juvia admitted sheepishly. “do you want to go to the aquarium? they have the cutest baby reef shark there his name is doodle and he warms my heart.”

❝ exactly! don’t be scolding me, juvia. ❞ jaein laughed before her eyes lit up with excitement. ❝ yes, yes, YES! you had be at baby reef shark. do you think they’ll have those cute little penguins at this one? ❞ she clasped her hands together before swinging her arm around the other.

“ a bit,” kyu supplied, lips curling at the edges at the question. “ everything okay? normally, people aren’t mumbling to themselves. ” well, some people did but the ones who kyu knew about he was sure weren’t coherent. he let his gaze rest on the pages in front of he girl, one eyebrow raising in question before letting his attention slip back up to girl.

❝ oops, i’m sorry. ❞ jaein apologized sheepishly, a tinge of pink painting the apples of her cheeks. she had been busy studying her life away and filling in assignments that the occasional mumbling would find itself higher in volume. she looked up at the other, noticing his brief gaze on her papers before she swiftly stacked them up and offered him the space. ❝ would you like a seat? ❞

“yeah you were, not that i mind but the person behind us kept looking at you as if you were some crazy person.” juvia informed the other with a soft chuckle, “what are you even studying? half the things you’ve been mumbling make zero sense.”

jaein let out a tired chuckle and leaned against the table. ❝ honestly, i have no idea anymore myself. i’m supposed to be working on this molecular assignment but my brain can’t function anymore... ❞ she let out a sigh and stacked up her remaining papers, shoving them into her organized folder. ❝ let’s go do something before i go insane? ❞

she’s a pre-med student working as a barista in the evenings

she’s cheerful, optimistic on the outside but inside she’s strained and tired

she can be very short with people only because her patience into getting into grad school is thinning

she’s a loyal friend + companion, if she thinks you’re worth it, she’ll definitely make time for you regardless of her busy ass schedule
