gyaos55ās fotolife - āThe weeping gorgeous illuminated with Kyoto Shimbun LED Photo Contestā
So, I figured Iād celebrate an approaching follower milestone with a giveaway! Iāve four linguistics/language-related books that Iām ready to part with, and they are (with their Goodreads links):
Words, Words, Words by David Crystal.
Is That a Fish in Your Ear? by David Bellos.
Alpha Beta by John Man.
The Language Instinct by Steven Pinker.
Like and/or reblog for a chance to win all four of these books (both count)! You can reblog as many times as you want.
Before you enter, you should know: thereās a noticeable crease on the cover of the Pinker (you can kind of see it in the photo) and a weird circular brown stain on the Man book (you can definitely see that in the photo). Apart from that, the books are in perfectly readable condition.
You donāt have to be following me!
You do, however, need to have your inbox open so I can message you if you end up winning. Also, you should be willing to give me your address so I can send you the books. That would be cool.
Iāll figure out a way to do international shipping, so donāt worry if youāre not in the UK - reblog away!
You have until April 1st.

Signal Boost, PLEASE!
A dear friend of mine, who is also a trans male, is being given the options to:
a) Wear a dress to graduationĀ
orĀ
b) Wear a tux, and not graduate.Ā
If you, along with many other students at my school, believe that this is a violation of human rights, please help us get #ATuxForAlex trending on all social media outlets! Even if this doesnāt directly affect you, or your school, this makes all of a difference to Alex. Show him that you support him!Ā
Hey guys, so in my school district, this trans boy named alex wanted to wear a tux to his graduation but the school is forbidding it. We are trying to make a lot of people aware of it and hope that if we can bring attention to it it might help other studentās trapped by a school systemās gender roles. If you could check out and tweet the tag #atuxforalex it would be greatly appreciated!!! Ā

Further Toast pieces included:Ā
A Linguist Explains What Old-School British Accents Sounded Like
