You know those weeks that just don’t stop? This is one of those weeks, although for once I’m not complaining! Had the best day ever with my babies yesterday for my birthday (I’m 21 as far as anyone’s concerned), Grey’s seventeenth season premieres tomorrow so there’s all the buzz with that but, perhaps most excitingly, my eleven year old came to me with the news that there’s going to be a Meredith Grey Pop Funko. I… really don’t know what that means, but she has a few from her favorite TV shows and movies and apparently I’m officially a cool mom for having one made in my likeness. Who knew? @townofbayview​

I definitely know what you’re talking about, although they’re usually bad rather than good weeks. Happy late birthday, it’s great that you got to celebrate with your kids. What did you do? Did they give you any presents? I don’t know what a Pop Funko is but maybe it’s good? I hope it is.

Oh there’s a question part, I didn’t know there would be questions. So, there are a lot of reasons why the cat has an instagram account and the dog doesn’t, first, the dog’s name isn’t as fun for an instagram account. Second, the dog is shy and doesn’t want his privacy shared all over the internet. The third and final reason I’ll give you is that I have a lot more cat jokes than dogs ones to make. I mean more like objects than sculptures. Embarrassing is interesting, it’s entertaining.

Don’t think anyone was going for the best costume, at least, if they were l missed the memo. As long as you were there having a good time that’s all that matters! Was there though and had a pretty great time. Which was a surprise given l’ve never exactly been a fan of Halloween in general. Busier than when you were in New York? Well that’s a pretty impressive feat. But l like to think the gatherings here are worth it. 

I totally was, are you saying my costume wasn’t the best? I’m really hurt. You have to keep in mind that I avoided any social events when I was in New York, so that’s probably why. But on another note, your wedding is getting very much closer! You must be excited! How is all the preparation going?

In general, Torrey enjoyed a social gathering.  It didn’t matter if it was just a few friends with food and wine or something like this.  She’d spend the majority of her childhood with her parents while they were with their band or friends on tour.  She had been to plenty of wild and crazy parties.  She was normally pretty good at moderation, keeping a good head on her shoulders.  She had pushed the limits a bit on her drinking a bit further than she probably should have.  At least she blended in a bit there.  She knew who Jake was.  She just didn’t know him.  That didn’t mean that the alcohol burning through her veins was discriminating.  She didn’t know him enough to hate him so that meant he got the friendly, drunk side of her.  She’d probably be mortified in the morning once the hangover wore off but for now, she wasn’t exactly worried about any of it.   Her face definitely look scared though as he said he was a ghost.  Instead, her face flickered between confused and amused.  She let the hand that had been touching him poke at his chest a little more assertively. She then proceeded to sprinkle a little salt in his general direction.  “No,” she said after a long moment. “If you were a ghost, my hand would be inside of you right now or… maybe it’s the other way around but still- you’re not a ghost. Plus salt is supposed to be anti-ghost, you’d be flying away right now if you were.  You’re not scary though. I’ve had worse haunt me.”

While Jake would often go out in his twenties, enjoying all sort of events and social gatherings, he had became more and more avert to them in the last few years, much preferring hanging out with a few friends rather than bigger parties. Bayview was kind of changing that for him as he tried to get out of his comfort zone in order to make new acquaintances. He usually didn’t care so much about his role as the grumpy ‘old’ man, but at this point it was kind of starting to get old. Jake had had his share of parties, between living in LA, New York and coming from an artistic family he couldn’t remember a time when people weren’t throwing impromptu parties around him. He definitely was not drunk at this point, and he did not think he was going to be drunk that evening, he was more into a few good drinks than drinking to the point of feeling ill the next day. Plus, he couldn’t exactly get drunk the way he would before, and a night of too much partying could be felt much longer than it did just a few years before. Jake was not exactly surprised by the excessive touching, she was not the first drunk girl to talk to him after one too many drinks. “Maybe I’m a special ghost like...Beetlejuice. Someone said my name three times, and I’m tangible now. But don’t tell anyone. That’s the worst thing you could tell a ghost.” He shook his head bringing his drink to his lips to take a sip.

Everyone does things differently. You’re definitely allowed to listen to the opinions of others but the odds are most of the opinions are just going to make you miserable.  Easy and lasting aren’t always synonymous but people are free to do whatever they want. That is the joy of being an adult. You get to do whatever you want and there isn’t much anyone else can do about.  I mean,  if you’re having a good time with surface level relationships, you shouldn’t honestly change anything.  Just because long-term relationships and all that comes with it is what other people enjoy, doesn’t mean it has to be yours.  So… you enjoy a chase.  Good luck with that.  I’m afraid most people will throw it at you rather than making you work these days.

You get to do whatever you want? I feel like I have so much responsibilities I didn’t have before I became an adult. I do until I don’t, and maybe it’s just the wrong kind of relationships for them to go anywhere that isn’t surface level, but I just might be going after the wrong girls. I feel like I’ve had more than just level surface relationships, but I could be wrong. I guess we can say that.

Okay, so I’m quite horrible when it comes to introductions and I think everyone says that at some point… but for me is an actual thing. I tend to avoid it all together hence why some people think I’m snobbish, but in reality is just a day in an introvert’s life. But then I was like.. why not do a ice breaker, right? Introductions are basically just a way to tell people more about ourselves? So, let’s exchange three facts about each other? I can go first. One, I’m from Perth, Australia, two, I once sat next to Matt Damon on a 13 hour flight but didn’t recognise him so I mostly talked to him about books and star wars for a good portion of the flight until these two ladies came up to him to ask for a picture… I was so utterly embarrassed, and three, my cousin told me that this year he would dress up my 5 year old goddaughter as one of my characters for Halloween, and what was the costume he came up with? Jessica Jones, a role that I auditioned for but didn’t get. Families can be quite.. special. Anyways, enough about me, what are three facts about you? Oh, and hi I’m Jess! / @townofbayview​

Three facts about me? God that’s always a weird thing talking about myself out of the blue like that. But let’s give it a try. First, I’m from California. Well, I could have rested during the flight as it was night-time for my suffering body. I don’t want to spoil it too much in case you’ll ever decided to watch it - in a nutshell, it’s a series about morally corrupted ‘heroes’. It completely lacks politically correctness, it’s brilliant. I consciously have to refrain myself from rambling about it every time it’s mentioned, you’re lucky I manage to. It’s lovely meeting you, too, Jake! Huge fan of your work.

Who needs sleep, right? I’ve heard it’s pretty much overrated at this point. I’m waiting for the day they invent something to replace it. Oh don’t worry about spoiling me, I don’t believe in really being spoiled, except of course major plot twists like the sixth sense. But anyone would be a jerk to spoil that movie to someone who hasn’t watched it. Why thank you, that’s very nice of you to say.

Did you make it out to the Halloween bash? Seems like everyone who was anyone was there. The town is just impressive in general at getting things organized. Far better than l’ve been at organizing things, but the party was a nice needed break. 

I did! I’ll admit I’m not exactly the one who had the best costume, but I did try a little, so at least I have that for me? Did you go? I don’t know if I’m anyone, but I hope it’s a good thing. I was very surprised when I moved here to see all the social events. I thought I’d be able to just don’t do anything, but now I’m going out more than I did when I lived in New York.

Sippin’ One Tonight

There was an age where you were probably a little bit too old to pass you limits when it came to drinking but if she were perfectly honest the being sober thing wasn’t particularly working for her. If there was ever a valid excuse to imbibe more than she ought to it was the Spooktacular Extravaganza.  While she had never attended one before, she’d heard stories about it and that seemed to be a common activity.  Most people probably lingered on the edge of tipsy and didn’t cross over to the other side.  She knew that she was there when she took to casually sprinkling salt on people after going into excruciating detail about how much she loved their costumes and them unless she didn’t at which case she didn’t tell them that she hated them but she maybe wasn’t as walled up and tight-lipped as she might have been has she not been quite a few drinks in.   Moving over to her next unsuspecting victim from behind, she let a hand move to their back leaning over their shoulder for attention as if trying to see a face in the dark.  “Han Solo?!” she said, far more seriously before adding with hand gestures as she talked.  “I thought your hot son killed you.”

It had been a while since Jake had properly celebrated Halloween. He was not what you’d call a playful person by nature, or at least lately he had not really been. And he really considered Halloween to be one of the most confusing celebration. While he used to go out, dress up and celebrate when he was in his twenties, he had done that a lot less in his thirties, much preferring family celebrations over boozy costumed gathering. But he wanted to become a little more social in Bayview, and he was pushing himself to go out to the events that were hosted in town as much as possible. He didn’t put too much thought in his costume and had really gone with the first thing he could buy online, some kind of Han Solo costume and he very well expected to find ten other guys dressed like him. He was not really going for something to stand up from the crowd anyway. He had talked to a few friends that he had seen around and when he felt the hand on his back he expected to see someone he knew but that was definitely not the case. “Boo. I’m a ghost. Aren’t you scared?” He replied as he turned around.

Hm, I may have weight out the pros and cons. I don’t think you’ve shown signs that you’re a jerk. Unless you hide it very well. If that’s the case, then you’ve fooled me. Yes, we sure can. People want something new. Why else do you think that Starbucks keeps coming out with different drinks? They want to stay in the competition. Little do they know that we’re coming for them. We’ll show them what’s what. Hm, maybe I’ll go for a cappuccino. What’s your go-to? I know that we can. 

Not yet, it’s very early on. Maybe I only show sign that I’m a jerk after a few months of knowing someone. After all, I act for a living so I could pretend I’m nice very well until I’m not. Maybe I’ve fooled you and you’ll never know until you do. Because that’s a marketing strategy? I don’t know, maybe we first should work at Starbucks to steal all their secrets. Oh they’ll never know and then boom, they’ll try to buy us out. I usually go for the very basic Americano.

Binge watching TV series throughout the entire flight from London to Bayview wasn’t that much of a bright idea after all. Now I’m knackered and don’t even have a couch, let alone a bed, where to get a brief lie-down to gather enough energy whilst waiting for the home moving company to arrive. It was worth it though, I finally caught up on The Boyz and bloody hell, that show’s powerful - when you ignore its numerous trashy parts. Is there any series that you thought you’d never like and ended up adoring instead? For those who will wander who’s the insane lady sitting on a bench downtown with their eyes closed, that’s me - Lily. It’s a pleasure to meet everybody. @townofbayview​

I don’t know if not watching a tv show would have meant you would have ended up with a bed or a couch when arrived. So might as well enjoy the trip a little. I don’t think I’ve heard of that show. What is it about? And why is it trashy? I can’t think of any, I usually go in with an open mind, or I just don’t watch them. Nice to meet you Lily, I’m Jake.

Ouch. The mom-zone. That’s always a fun place to visit before noon. One step above the grandma-zone, though. It’s what we’re known for: our stellar welcoming practices. Ignorance is bliss. As long as they’re not knocking down your door demanding you ‘fess up, I think you’ll be alright not confessing. I get that. LA is always a bit much, but sometimes it’s nice to be somewhere a little slower. Even if the place does roast you for all you’re fuckin’ worth. It gives things character. Maybe the fall festival will turn the tides. 

I’m not looking forward to the grandma zone, because I just know it’s going to happen very soon and then I’ll feel very old. Mark my words, it’s going to happen right as I turn forty, I just know it. Was the fall festivals everything you expected? More importantly are you looking forward to all the Halloween festivities?
