Fanfiction Idea - Unwanted Vacation Together (Hangster)

Bradley's perfect summer surprise in form of an apartment on a lonesome Croatian bay is disrupted when he A) discovers that there is no internet anywhere - and B) not only is the bay not "lonesome" but neither is the apartment...

Can it get any worse than being stuck on vacation with a stranger by mistake (because that's what it was, right, Nat and Javy??) ? Especially when the stranger turns out to be a handsome, grinning, asshole-acting bastard.

AKA

Bradley and Jake's Meet-Ugly in form of a maybe not-quite-ruined vacation at a honeymoon apartment.

- Annoyingly, Bradley's frozen pizzas don't taste as great when Jake understated performs a cooking show in the same kitchen, which sucks, until without a word a second plate is suddenly filled...

- Jake complains about the 80s playlists until Bradley catches him singing the songs in the shower.

- They first go to a beach together after Jake got lost on his own and had to call Bradley to pick him up.

- They take turns with the double bed and the uncomfortable little guest bed until they get drunk together in a bar, take a taxi home and stumble into the double bed together...

You'd think Jake was star of high school but no.

Bradley was the popular one while Jake only had one best friend.

Imagine: Bradley had a training accident and broke his leg...

It's nothing more, just that he's in hospital. Mav really wants to come but he is busy and the others are either deployed or too far and Jake just reads the frantic chat and takes a flight.

Bradley thinks Jake visits him cause he is stationed nearby. Jake visits every day for a coffee or just a chat so Bradley isn't too bored.

Eventually Jake's sister comes for a visit too. She was ready for vacation anyway and wanted to see the guy her brother dropped everything for.

"So you're the guy Jake booked a 14 hours flight for in a blink of an eye."

"WHAT?! I thought you were stationed nearby?!"

"Uhh..."

"Bradley, Jake Hangman Seresin didn't hesitate for a second to fly to you for 14 hours, just because you broke your damn leg."

"Damn, Rooster! He's into you."

*The door to their shared apartment opens. Javy stands with his back to it and cuts some vegetables.*

Javy: It's been long for a trip to the store for a pineapple.

Jake:

Javy: *turns around to see a completely out of mind Jake and sighs, crossing his arms*

Javy: Spill.

Jake: I kissed Rooster.

Javy: You-

Jake: There was no pineapple at the store so I drove to Bradley's to ask him and we kind of had some picnic and I kissed him.

Javy: You went to buy a pineapple and ended up having a date with Bradley Bradshaw.

Jake: I forgot the pineapple, then.

Javy: Yeah, I thought so.

(After following the discussion under my M:I & 007 post, I just have to make a separate post about it, partly because, oddly enough, I can't comment.)

I've read several posts and fanfiction in which Jake is described as "like Ice. Could be his secret son" etc.

While watching TG:M for the first time I always saw it as Jake is like young Mav (and Mav notices AND fears it) and Bradley is like Ice (which makes Mav VERY emotional seeing it.)

Mav knows from the look in their eyes after the mission there's more because it reminds him of a certain picture of young him and Ice.

So after they (finally, because they're stubborn dumbasses) come together, there a lot of those situations:

Jake tells Bradley he and Mav meet up and have "awesome plans". Bradley immediately calls Ice. "I know. I also just wanted to call", is all Ice says. And: "Grab all the gear."

Jake: Bradley, Roo Roo, Baby, love of my life, man of my dreams, b-

Bradley: *stares at Jake*

Jake: B... Best pilot...

Whole Dagger Squad: *stares at Jake*

Bradley:

Bradley: WHAT ON EARTH DID YOU DO-

Bradley didn't really realize when Jake slowly had let his guard down around him past mission.

He didn't really get how much has changed till they first meet Hangman's family, especially - his father. Because in less than a second, Jake was reset.

Bradley could just stare in confusion. Because yes, this is Hangman. But where did the dimples while laughing go? Yes, this is Hangman. But why don't his eyes sparkle? Yes, this is Hangman. But why has he stopped being touchy while their banter? YES, this is Hangman. But why does the "Rooster" feel so wrong?

And he asks Fanboy about it and he just shrugs and goes "Hangman in his glowing self, what do you mean?" And Bradley frowns and misses Javy's knowing look while watching Jake from the distance.

Damn. Because Mickey's right, this IS pre mission Hangman at his best but it's not Jake and how can it be that no one else notices this. Except...

Could it be that Jake was like this just around Bradley?

You'd think Bradley Bradshaw can cook but he just loves food.

Jake Seresin is able to abracadabra the best meals ever. He learnt it from his mother and whenever he's home the two would cook together with ABBA songs in the background dancing around the kitchen like they were born to do it.

Jake Seresin is a country boy.

He rides horses, he owns a cowboy hat and he plays the acoustic guitar while having a straw in his mouth.

He grew up on a big farm. He is close with his mother and he struggles with his father. He has multiple elder sisters.

Jake is the youngest child.

Bradley left Jake in Top Gun because he thought it'd be easier to deal with his personal problems alone.

Having Jake around made Bradley aware of his problems, but it also slowly started to solve them.

Meeting again was hard.

Seeing Bradley again was the most hurtful thing. But it was also the best day in Jake's life.
