Dissection of Australian Pine

The concept of this piece is to glorify the invasive species that was introduced to the South Florida fauna in the late 1800s as a salt-tolerant tree that could provide shade and serve as a windbreak along coastal areas. Despite the positive use of this plant, it unbalanced the habitat of South Florida, due to aggressive growing and its damaging germination techniques. This method of portrayal is placing the dissected parts of the tree inside a display case. The display case will be made of Australian Pine. In the display case I am displaying containers full of seeds, pieces of bark, branches, roots, etc.

Complication of 5 Videos

When I was in the FIU BBC library., I created several art exercises regarding the mirror, the concept of light, and performance art. My colleague and I created performances in reference to the library as well as the BBC campus as we created each video. We even created a group collaboration out of 10 colleagues to create a “super” video. I was very surprised and happy how many unique effects a mirror can create.

When I was in the FIU BBC library., I created several art exercises that are in relation to the camera and the performer. My colleague and I created performances in reference to the library as we created each video. Not only in reference to the library but to the objects of the library. We as a group were showing the concept of what is the backbone of this library and how it is portrayed.

The concept is to create an installation using fabrics that she hand- sewed as a carpet that will display a scene of playing cards with the depiction of playing with someone on a video chat to demonstrate our disconnection. There will be a video showing our moments of connection. This would be a piece dedicated to my grandma as she is going through sever hardship. I feel that I need to honor her and show despite our vast differences in age and in location we are connected.

True Reflections

The video being presented has a video of me flexing and showing muscles in the mirror while I draw the idealistic body proportions of a man. I am also ingesting protein powder pills to express how men do not accept therapy and medicine but are heavy advocates of protein and getting bigger in muscle mass. I also applied protein powder on my face as a face mask to represent using beauty products and it is considered feminine to use such products.I focused on the concept of men that appear “soft” towards chauvinistic perspectives.

Soft Concept

The concept is to draw on a mirror with a marker and me flexing. I

would have a video of me flexing and showing muscles in the mirror

and then drawing the idealistic body proportions of a man. This

video would be displayed on the mirror that has the drawing of the

proportions of a man. I will be focusing on the concept of men that

appear “soft” towards chauvinistic perspectives.

I painted the chair with an abrasive manner and with solid materials that have no intensions to paint. When performing this artwork, I realized through the rumble I created a unique abstract art work on the ground as I was painting on the chair. In this artwork my hammer was my brush and my paint was clay, coal, and plaster.

This method of portrayal is placing the dissected parts of the tree inside a display case. The display case will be made of wood, preferably out of Australian Pine and glass. There will be a jar full of seeds, a piece of bark, a log, branches, roots, etc.

Lost and Growth

This artwork is representing how one can be lost and still have growth and also show how on can perceive to have growth yet are very lost. I used found footage, AI text to audio speech, and Google’s pronunciation AI for words. I have one video showing with two audios of the same video, which causes the sense of being lost. I was able to optimize the usage of space by using two speakers to create a theater like performance, as one speaker was near the video with one audio and another speaker in another corner of the room with the second audio.

Artifacts of North Miami

I created impressions of the broken street I live in, which is North Miami Ave to represent how such a necessity the road is and how damaged it is despite being so important to transportation. In addition the plaster molds, I also showcased the clay in which I made the impressions of the cracks on the road, due them having such a unique forms. I created a display case to give a sense of historical value, to represent the street as a monument of some sort.
