“Got it,” Yasmin nodded, handing the first mascara tube she had showed her before reaching for another. This one offered more volume and length in the lashes. “Here’s another one I think you might like. Up to you which one you want to go for.”

“Ummm...” Jane furrowed her brow, she wasn’t really fussed about her makeup. So she smiled, “I think I’ll just stick with my usual one if that’s okay?”

“I think that’s absolutely amazing!” she beamed, unable to help the smile on her face. Art was one of the things that had kept her sane for so long. Punzie would always love it no matter what. “I think you might have the best job in the entire world. Does it feel like the best job in the entire world?”

“It is,” Jane smiled and then shrugged, “Teaching wasn’t always my plan. In fact it was never my plan. I’m more of an adventure slash artist. At least I was back in my world. Although now that I am a teacher, I do love it.”

Belle looked up at the lady, now interested that someone had an eye for wonderful literature. “How could you not?” She asked with a smile. “Swordfights, romance, a bit of humor and a prince in disguise. It has everything packed into one!” Belle cleared her throat, a bit of an embarrassing blush tinted her cheeks. “Sorry, I’m babbling again. I’m Isabel by the way but you can call me Izzy or Belle for short. Whichever you prefer.”

“Please, don’t apologize. I am very much prone to babbling about things, books, art, everything really!” Jane laughed, “I’m Jane. It’s nice to meet you.”

“He’s not here?” She asked, curiosity getting the better of her as she ventured further into the others classroom. “You mean when the spell brought us here? He didn’t come with you- or have you not found him yet?” She asked, knowing it was probably one too many questions. “You don’t have to answer any of these, I’m sorry. I’m just curious, I guess.”

“I don’t know. It could be either but I presumed he would have been in the house I woke up in with me if he were here,” Jane shrugged, “Maybe not. Maybe he ran off into the woods or something, he’s very... nature-oriented I guess. It’s okay, I’m sure he’ll turn up eventually or we’ll find a way home,” She smiled, “I’m just glad that in this world I’m still married to him. It’s a nice thought.”

“This is an interesting book.” Belle paused upon looking at the book she was checking out for the customer before her. She looked up at them with a smile. “Actually… it’s one of my personal favorites.”

Jane turned and glanced at the book with a smile, “Oh I love that book! It has such a great plot line.”

“Thank you,” she replied, her voice smooth but tone eerily cold. Nodding at the woman’s response, Yasmin immediately expertly navigated through the aisles, expecting the customer to follow. “I thought I recognized you,” Yasmin commented almost to herself, reaching the mascaras. “Is this the one you usually use?” she asked, holding out the packaging of one of the mascaras Yasmin was convinced she saw the woman purchase before. “We have a new model of these in stock if you’d like. Depends on what you want from a mascara. Longer lashes? Thicker lashes? Darker black? Perhaps a bright color? There’s plenty to choose from.”

“Umm...” Jane examined the packaging, “I think so. It looks like it anyway,” She shrugged, “Longer lashes. I don’t need anything too elaborate. Bright colors aren’t really my thing. At least not for mascara.”

“Of course!” Punzie smiled, scurrying back down the hall to retrieve the things the brunette had dropped before returning with the materials in hand. “That’s so nice of you to offer a free lesson to your students. Art is so much fun,” she rambled, following her along to the art room.

“Yeah well, they don’t always like the art theory or some of the units so giving them free time keeps them interested. I get them to start a project at the beginning of the month for them to work on during free periods. It can be anything they want and it doesn’t necessarily have to be one project, they can do a couple. And anyone who wants to, can submit it for the the end of semester exhibition.”

Marie nodded along when the other gave her directions, looking up to the ceiling in concentration as she tried to remember what she said- “Great, thank you-” She told the other, about to leave before something stopped her. “You can tell me to butt out if you want, because it really is none of my business, but- what had you so lost in thought when I walked in here.”

“Sorry? Oh, no I’m fine. I was just thinking about my husband,” Jane paused, “He’s not... here and I miss him,” She began to play with her ring once more.

Marie looked down to the piece of paper in her hand and hummed, “Looks like it’s room 22a, I’m supposed to be delivering something off to her. Long time client who I’ve taken a liking too- so I don’t mind dropping off her beauty supplies when they come in.” She told the other, hoping she would be able to help.

“Oh, sure. It’s to the left down the hall, up the stairs you’ll see and then to the left. It’s only a few doors down but they’re all numbered so it shouldn’t be that hard to find.”

The blonde didn’t mean to stare, it was just the fact the brunette in front of her seemed to be lost in thought and those thoughts seemed to be happy ones- she was lost and was going to ask for directions but she didn’t have it in her to interrupt. “I was just- lost. A little. I was going to ask for directions but you seemed engrossed in your, tea? Coffee? Beverage?” She spoke, moving further into the room the other was sat in so she wasn’t loitering by the door.

Jane smiled, “No, you’re fine,” She paused and gestured for her to enter, “Where did you need to get too? I’ve only been here for a few weeks but I think I can direct you.”

“You can look, but no touching,” Yasmin snapped at the potential customer who had walked into the parlor. “You touch it, you buy it,” she warned before folding her long fingers together and smiling, “Now how can I help you today?”

“I know the rules. I’ve been here before. You have such a nice shop,” Jane spoke somewhat sternly, as she would have with one of her students, but added the compliment to try and make up for the habitual action, “I ran out of mascara today. I was wondering if I could get a new one.”

“Are you alright over there? You look like you could use some help.”

“Oh! Please, I do,” Jane said dropping some of the art supplies as she spoke, “This is what I get for planning a free art lesson for my seniors. I have to have every supply on hand. Whoever thought putting the art supplies closet all the way down the hall from the art room wasn’t thinking straight. If you could just...” She looked down at the ground, “Carry those things I’ve dropped towards the art room please? Thank you so much.”

Today was a day that Jane was particularly missing her husband, wherever he was, as she waited for her next class to start. She held the cup of tea between her hands, warming them. After finishing half the cup, Jane put it down so she could finish preparing for her freshman class. It had only been a few weeks since she woke up in Mosken but she was already settled in. She was still getting used to the technology and no longer living in the jungle but she liked the little life she was creating. Suddenly, Jane felt a presence, “Oh! I didn’t see you there,” She said, turning and beginning to fiddle with her wedding ring. At least she was still married in this world, “Can I help you with something?” She asked, with a smile.
