This deck in the Marina had a lovely view, but the drab and window rooftop deck wasn’t so pleasant to enjoy it on. We built an IPE deck especially engineered to accommodate weather and rain with excellent drainage. JML also chose an assortment of chic fiberglass containers and plants that can withstand the wind and fog.

In order to heighten this property’s curb appeal we replaced all the damaged concrete, and built beautiful brick planters that complement this lovely brown shingle Victorian.

We removed this large, ugly patch of artificial turf and replaced it with a meandering flagstone pathway and drought-resistant plants!
Another finished project. We love putting in these vertical fences-- the boards of IPE and western red cedar looks great, don't you think?

Sunday Streets, April 14th
Every spring and summer JML looks forward to Sunday Streets, where we set up shop on Valencia and show the neighborhood what we've got.
Here's our booth in front of the JML storefront at 1031 Valencia.
Our installation supervisor, Peter, did an awesome patio demonstration. He started out by building a small wood frame, and then filled the base with decomposed granite. Then he laid stone and before you knew it we had a brand new patio right in the middle of the street on Valencia!
Upon breaking down the patio to put in another kind of surface, a very astute onlooker asked, "So is this how NOT to build a patio?"
Caleb shows us how to pack a spring or summer planter. We used annuals and herbs in ours; what would you use?
