And there she was, busted with her hand still shoved in the cookie jar. Caught in a way she knew she wouldn’t be able to talk herself out of… not that she was ever able to accomplish doing that. Not only because of the fact that not once has she ever successfully managed to lie to Jinyoung. But also that her eyes were wet… wet in the way a vampire would cry. Red bloody streaks lining the underneaths of her eyes and staining her normally pale cheeks. Yeoreum was always a relatively emotional person… creature, if you will. It was possibly her greatest weakness. She knew that, Jinyoung knew that. It was obvious with the lectures she endured for being so devastatingly weak. For her, it wasn’t so easy to let go of her emotions, to fully release the past in those moments of stubborn nostalgia that threatened to knock her off of her feet. Her slender fingers raised to push the redness off of her face, closing the book she had been reading while her gaze focused on her maker. “N-nothing…” Yeoreum stuttered, obviously lying, it was clear all over her face. Why is it that being what she was, she still lacked the courage to tell a simple white lie to her elders? Not more than a couple of silent seconds later she knew there was no point in hiding anything. She should trust Jinyoung, despite how close in age they both appeared, she was the closest thing to a mother that she had any more. She raised Yeoreum into who she was today, though training and guiding. More time was spent by her side than anybody else’s, more laughs and more fights than with any other person she had ever met in all of her years. And yet here she was, broken down and trying to keep it to herself. Mourning the loss of a life she had left behind almost seven decades ago. Stupid. God, she could be so stupid. Sometimes she questioned whether or not she was fully cut out for this whole… blood sucking, people killing, vampire-being thing. Her sigh was shaky as she finally confessed, saying what she knew needed to be said, “I thought about him today.”
sometimes she swore yeoreum forgot that she could read minds too. it was a power that not every vampire had so she didn’t necessarily blame the progeny for her frugal nature, but at the same time it could have saved her the murmured excuses in this discussion. the ability to focus in on an individuals thoughts was one of the most beneficial and annoying aspects about her birth; at times it came in handy to catch notice of someone lying to her in hopes they could manipulate her-- which she never let happen, and other times it was a ticking bomb that continued to explode in her head. voices constantly coiling around her head, their annoying little different pitches of voices stinging her senses that made her want to snap the nearest mortals bones in half. but she couldn’t do that either, it would defeat the purpose she had been building for thousands of years. she had to live in caution at times, the ripple straining across the process of her brain until she was able to calm herself down to function again. deep breaths, that’s what it took to slowly gather and piece the thoughts together. plus without yeoreum knowing it too she was pretty oblivious, the fumble twitching of her fingers and those ugly stains streaming down her face practically screaming what was going on in that little head of hers. why did this girl never listen? how many times did jinyoung have to tell her that the past is the past? don’t think back on it, forget it. it’s nonexistent now, there’s no going back. she should be thankful she was chosen as a progeny and was able to survive this long in the world. she was blessed with immortality after all, it’s not like this would be the first heart break she’d experience. jinyoung knew it herself, there would be more occurrences of this in progeny’s future, she could even hear the child herself thinking and pondering on that idea in her own thoughts. that’s why she needed to be taught strength now, to be able to block away silly emotions like this later on. if jinyoung could teach herself self reliance than yeoreum could be taught it by the master herself. simple logic.
“he’s gone so stop thinking about him.” in more simple words: she handled it. he was no longer in the picture in vague terms, and that’s all that mattered. for the millionth time yeoreum would just have to accept that fate, and it would be better soon than later since at this point they are taking steps backwards instead of forward. they needed to make progress in their plan of conquering and bringing light to their species, not retreating back to the first few lessons of training she dictated. it has been 66 years, even if they step with immortality treading their heels there is no time open for doubt or questioning. and it seemed she was going to have to demonstrate that, again.
razor sharp nails grasped themselves around the progeny’s neck, using force to brutally press her against the wall of the eve. the tint in her eyes was apparent enough for the only working employee to take their leave before they turned into a food source themselves, the rage building itself up to cause her fangs to grow from the pocket of her gums. oh no, yeoreum, look what you have done. “vampires can’t be with mortals, it doesn’t work. he is just food for us, a stepping stool to kick away after we get the real prize.” the pearly crystals of her fangs came across the progeny’s neck, as a realization of the reality she had to face. the reality she was living in for the past 66 years. “i thought you were different from those other toss away garbage bags i turned... but in moments like these you are just as useless as them. don’t make me get the silver chains to make you experience true pain since you seem to be adapting to those useless human qualities.”
a progeny is a reflection of their maker. and a maker is a reflection of the entire species itself. morals, rules, lessons, strength, basic skills to survival; these are some of the specific guidelines a vampire must follow by, and without a proper maker to instruct such directions you get a chaotic failure. the potential of the true death, humiliation, and even banishment. you aren’t allowed to just turn any individual you seek, oh no, that would mean the population of humanity would tread with immortality. the life that will be ripped away must be with reason, caution, and precision. especially when humans have the tendency to whine and mewl about the materialistic things in life, refusing to give up the way they lived for the new standards. ones birth family is no longer reachable, old friends are basically banished, and everything one may now will be replaced with a vast array of new knowledge. whether it’s wanted or not.
so, you tell me, do you really want to be a vampire? to have those stone cold teeth carve into the side of your neck and leave you nearly for dead? think twice about it. and once you think about that, think about how you will be trained. rebirthed if you must say. jinyoung’s a maker of aggression, abuse, and force. she will torment you til you are begging for her to whisper those three words, “i release you,” only she won’t. you’ll become a soldier. a fighter that is capable to represent and sustain the race of vampires from extinction.
now, do you still want to be a vampire? because clearly, oh yeoreum didn’t. and even if she had wanted the grace, it would have been an immediate regret when stepping into phase two. jinyoung observed her, watched her, took mental notes until reaching the conclusion of: this is the one. the faithful progeny i have been seeking. a majority of her previous progeny’s were mere failures, didn’t work hard enough, got themselves into trouble, were a result of begging to be turned, and ultimately: left for dead. she didn’t need that anymore, the time for fun and games has long seized to exist.
the korean war, the summer of 1950, the smell still stung the bridge of her nose. it only took her six months before stealing the innocence of yeoreum, and since then her decision has seemed to be a gracious one. one of the first vampires to be turned, and only fae-vampire known to currently exist is still alive, embarking on the world with her work of 66 years. together they control everything, and seeking to build alive the race of vampires yet again.
and again i may endearingly ask, do you wish to join them?
the town. the home she was born and raised in-- ruined. everyone is all dead, the cracked bones and open wounds rotting in the humid air. and the blood, it was on her hands. she was at fault for this entire tragedy, the ruthless and brutal war she created out of spite. yes, a faerie, she knew she was special: she was born with honour, knew how to control those powers and alternate between frequencies; but a vampire? that was something completely new, and almost a myth in her mind. it was a new power that turned her into a monster, a murderer, a morbid machine.
she claims she is decent though, and according to the ancient book of the vampyr she is the saviour of the vampire race. blood thick and powerful. face pretty and flawless. the exterminator of lilith who dares to manipulate the sanity of her kind.
she’s a warrior, a strong woman who stood for what she believed in and stepped foot on the battleground. gender discrimination has no room to talk when it’s life or death, when it’s your team defending your home land to the opponents. it was mandatory for them to win, they needed to. the village was overcome with disease and lowering itself on resources; this was a battle of not only territory but of family. it wasn’t just a troop killing others, it was a group of people protecting their family. that bond of blood.
but what happens when those familiar black long locks are suddenly nowhere to be found? presumed dead. there was no time to worry about her, only space to prolong to victory. carriers sent the message to her parents about the assumed death, just as would happen to any missing soldier.
except she wasn’t missing. she was kidnapped. and not for ransom either, for her blood. that glorious smell that intoxicated the nasal passages of oh sweet lilith. faerie’s were rare to exist, she knew that, it was just her and her mother who had that blood flowing through their veins. but, lilith, oh no, she was something even greater than that. stronger than life itself, immortality in it’s grotesque flesh. a vampire.
and those sharp teeth pierced her innocent flesh, shredding the barrier of life and the underworld. leaving her aching and in a mess, nearly dead. nearly drained of that precious blood that was so intoxicating. but she was saved, labeled a rarity, and left to fend for herself.
a mess. reckless. not knowing of this new power that turned her veins black. a half of two concoctions that seemed to make no sense at all; half sweet, half evil. she was the most desired species of her own secondary species, and that itself was too much power to give to one individual.
ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
