Project #3
Anonymous:
This project focuses on “troubled” youth between 17-20, located in the Central Valley. This project is going to have a collection of raw portraits. I will be describing to you why society feels they are trouble and if they feel if they agree with society. This will be my first project shot on 120 film.
Project #2: This project showed life of shows before, during, and after. This project focuses on raw and unposed subject matter. These photos were high in contrast and used harsh flash to show how loud and unorganized everything was. I also shot this in a documentary style to give an insight of my life.
A few shots in LA from a roll developed recently.
Project #1
Miss Conection,
This project revolves around the idea of finding or loosing the opportunity of love. I will take miss connection stories off of Craiglist and pair it with a photo I believe fits the story. I will be shooting this project on 35mm film with the attentions of bringing awareness that your interactions with everyday life could change someone else’s life.
Daido Moriyama: A Japanese street photographer that shot the crude city life he experienced. His photos give a sense of chaos and I love the harsh flash and the dark feeling that you get from looking at his work. Daido shot post WW2 in Japan showing cultural conditions that were faced at this time.
Ed Templeton: photographer, skateboarder, artist based out of Huntington Beach. Ed is a professional skateboarder, designing for toy machine and shooting as he goes on trips. He’s a self taught photographer shooting skating and street. Being involved in skating makes me appreciate his stuff so more and hyped me up to go out and shoot.
Daniel Arnold: Street Photographer based out of New York City. Daniel walks around the streets of New York Snapping photos as he walks by. Shooting on mostly a contax G2 rangefinder. Daniel Arnold gained most of his popularity off of Instagram. Now featured in magazines like vogue, he’s becoming a well known street photographer.
Petra Collins: photographer/director based out of New York. Petra established her name by shooting big names such as Frank Ocean and Selena Gomez and etc. She is a very in demand photographer right now working with big companies such as Gucci and doing magazine spreads and not to forget shooting music videos. Her portraits are amazing and one of my favorite photographers. Petra has a project called “coming of age” showing teen girls growing up. Which is something I’m really interested in.

Stanley Kubrick: Stanley Kubrick is not only one of my favorite directors but he is also one of my favorite photographers. Stanley Kubrick was a photographer for LOOK Magazine at the young age of 17. I personally started shooting film when I️ was 17 and it’s been a great passion of mine since. Kubrick style of street photography was amazing and shot mostly around New York and Chicago. He shot in monochrome and planned his shots accordingly to get the shots he wanted.

Transgression is a zine I am making for my art 30 final. (If your wondering what a zine is, a zine is usually a small self-published collection of art that is reproduced via photocopier.) The zine is shot all on 35mm film and portrays one night at a local gas station/laundromat, with a couple of hoodlum teens who deicide to sneak out pass curfew and go out for a smoke. This project was particularly harder than usual due to how fast the due date was coming. I ran into a couple of problems because of this. The first night I went to go shoot, I ruined a whole roll of film due to shooting with a to fast shutter speed while using a flash. The second problem I ran into was poor planning for my shoots. Because of the lack of time, I had to do most of my planning during the shoot so I ended up not getting all the shots I wanted for this zine with no time for reshooting. I love film photography but due to the time it takes to develop film along with getting all your shots is extremely time consuming and expensive. If I were to redo this project I might have just shot this with a digital camera, but their is something about film that looks so great when it comes to photography which I love so much.
