âPareidoliaâ at Antler Gallery.
Currently on view at Antler Gallery in Portland, Oregon is the group exhibition, âPareidolia,â curated by Casey Weldon.
Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon in which the mind responds to a stimulus, usually an image or a sound, by perceiving a familiar pattern where none exists. Common examples are perceived images of animals, faces, or objects in cloud or rock formations. In this show we ask artists to illustrate this phenomenon, fooling the audience into seeing something that isnât really there, or is not immediately registered, at first glance. Artists have created an imaginative assortment of visual tricks for this exhibition.
(Artists above: Allison Reimold, Casey Weldon, David Seidman, Amy Sol, Jason Limon, Rachael Bridge, Abby Fields and Craig Cundiff)
âPareidoliaâ will be on view until April 21st, 2019.

Leche de Mipalo:Â New Work
Leche de Mipalo, previously featured in Cross Connect, works in the highly specialized field of glitch art, where image failures are turned into artwork.  Typically they are pulsing or strobing gifs with old computer or game imagery.  Rarely are they as precisely choreographed and erotically charged as this work.  The fascinating toolbox of this artist:  VCRâs, Digital Camera, Minidv Cam, quartz, text editors, Max, VLC and other video compression apps

Scott Listfieldâs âFranchise.â
Paintings from artist Scott Listfieldâs recent exhibition âFranchise,â which was on display last month at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles, California.  The brilliant series depicts the iconic signage of fast food institutions (as well as sly references to âBobâs Burgers,â âStar Wars,â and Netflixâs âStranger Thingsâ among others) being rediscovered by Listfieldâs ever-wandering astronaut in a distant, dystopian future.
