How Melinda May matters to me :)
Melinda May is a complicated character, I guess thatâs why Iâm drawn to her. When I first saw Agents of SHIELD, I immediately got interested in her, simply because of her silence. I immediately started wondering what her story was and where she came from because you practically didnât know anything about her in the first few episodes. Her being this cold, stoic, serious warrior, who never smiles, on the outside and then as the series continues, learning what happened to her, how she became this way and how she used to be. I love how she acts so differently around Coulson and all together it is super exciting to me to see her interact with the other characters on the show because you always see everyone respecting her so much, almost scared of her because of this story about Bahrain being passed on incorrectly. I also love how the audience gets to see her facade crack here and then and gets to learn who this silent, mysterious woman is and was before the incident. (Even though I ship Philinda 4 LIFE, I got so excited when Andrew started working with SHIELD again.)
Sheâs by far my favorite character on AoS and I think thatâs because she is this wounded warrior, silent but deadly, cold on the outside, fluffy teddy bear on the inside and of course her MASSIVE fighting skills! (Words canât even describe how satisfying it was to see her kick Wardâs ass in the end of season 1)
She matters to me because Melinda May is that one character I look up to and I hope to grow up to be. Sheâs a woman who experienced terrible things but kept fighting, a woman who always got back up again. Thatâs who I want to be, strong and always fighting back. Women like her matter because there are so many girls out there who need somebody like her to look up to. May is vulnerable like any of us and ever since I know her I have actually caught myself asking âW.W.M.M.D.? - What would Melinda May do?â I learned to keep my emotions in check a little better, for example when I know a situation is not worth the energy and time to get angry I actually sit down, taking a deep breath telling myself: âCalm down. Compartmentalize. Neutralize.â And guess what? It actually works for me so thank you, Agent May! I think I already mentioned that sheâs my favorite character on AoS but Iâll say it once more: Sheâs the BEST, MOST INCREDIBLE person on that show! Any scene with May in it has this sort of tension because you never know what to expectâŠsilence? Beating the crap out of someone? You just know itâs going to be awesome either way. :)
Melinda May is one of the strongest and most amazing women ever, she protects, helps and changes lives and thatâs why Melinda May matters!

I Have To Be Dramatic. I Have To
After seeing a show, here is another list of stage door Doâs and Donâts (with a few key repeats from other posts):
1) If you canât control yourself, donât stage door (no obnoxious fangirling, screaming, crying, etc. Seriously, please donât cry at the stage door. )
2) Donât interrupt the actors talking to another fan (especially one you donât know) just because you want more attention from them after youâve already spoken to them
3) Donât try and make someone feel like less of a fan just because they havenât seen the show as many times as you
4) Donât brag about how many times you have seen the show
5) Don't brag about how you âknow the whole castâ to people
6) When the actor says they have to go, THEY HAVE TO GO. Let them leave.
7) Donât scream the actorâs name as they leave the stage door. They will get to you, I promise.
8) If the show does not have barriers, please be aware of personal space. Keep your hands to yourself unless the actors initiates contacts.
