no joke i have seen one avid sonelise shipper legit got mad at people joking a sonic channel art of sonic wearing rain boots from another sonic channel art that may hint to sonamy and said "STFU SONAMY ISN'T CANON"

Iv seen Sonlise brats get upset that a YouTuber didn't make a unique thumbnail for the ship but did for every other ship they did up to that point, and got even more upset when said Youtuber didn't like the ship and said it was terrible. As if people are not allowed to dislike certain ships or something.

People are allowed to hate Princess Elise and Sonlise. Some of these Sonlise/princess Elise brats think that if they white knight for a fictional character people would just magically like her all of a sudden.It doesn't work like that. If anything just makes them hate her even more.

Iv tried to tell these Elise brats for a long time and to ignore the haters, but they wouldn't listen. Sometimes I think they would just actively seek out a ship war on purpose just to make themselves out to be a "victim"

So now Im just gonna openly call them out for what they are.

Definitely not saying there haven't been issues with this fandom being able to discern between biting at ragebait, and sincerely replying disagreement. Just to make that clear.

But from what I can remember, the Sonic Channel fanart thing is a bit of an exaggeration.

I saw that fan's original post, and it consisted of them pointing out that the umbrella Sonic had in the laundromat was different from the one that Amy had in, so he wasn't borrowing her umbrella. And that the rain boots were a gift that he was getting use out of, and that it didn't necessarily mean anything romantic.

They weren't going after individual fans who were excited about it. (Or "stfu, it isn't canon!" As anon puts it) Not to mention, I did see some Sonamy fans trying to argue that their ship was canon based on that fanart (fans can be a bit intense at times).

And sometimes if you see the same take over and over again, you just want to vent about it. Especially if it's about a notp that is hard to block out.

Fans of other, more popular ships will argue for and against similar teases making rival ships canon all the time.

I've seen Sonamy fans arguing that certain moments (like hugs, the kiss, and Sonic comforting Elise) in Sonic 06 weren't romantic, for example. That doesn’t make them monstrous brats trying to ruin Sonelise fans' fun. Fans can still enjoy a ship regardless of whether it is canon or not.

Again, I agree with the overall sentiments of the recent posts here. Politely disagreeing with a specific claim about Elise's character or arc is fine. But quote reposting every comment that says Elise sucks, just to complain that some people still hate her, is a complete waste of time. Said fan would do that recently, and I think it got excessive, and is worth calling out.

I say this mainly because I don't want this to go into a full 180, back into Sonelise fans feeling like they cannot express their disagreement with popular fandom opinion, or dislike for Notps, without their takes being exaggerated as an example of "fanbrat behavior".

Why does it matter if its the same umbrella or not though? its not real. people are going to draw connections to things even if things dont add up. people are going to see things they are wanting to see. you can agree to disagree but in the end. why does it matter? its not real. anyone that gets into an active flame war over fictional characters or ships is a fan brat. especially if its being done by a grown adult.

If you get upset because someone just hates a character you like and you just cant accept that people have unique opinions that are not of your own.

If people in this community cant handle being called a fanbrat because everything I have said resonates with them a lot. then maybe that should be a wake up call for them. I have tried telling these people to stop giving into these negative comments and rage bait. That Elise is not real and dosent need a white knight defending her.It has gotten to the point of fan brattery. and Im calling it as I see it.

That's...kind of the point I was making. None of it is real, so it shouldn't matter to someone's enjoyment of a pairing if someone disagrees that a small headcanon is canon.

People can agree or disagree with others' theories about an artwork (possibly) teasing Sonamy. Same way as people can agree or disagree with theories made about a cutscene (possibly) teasing Sonelise. Neither group of fans should be entitled to not wanting disagreement.

In the end, all fans have to be respectful of the other opinion they’re debating, even if the opinion goes after something a fan likes, whether it is popular or unpopular.

That's what makes for white knighting and brattish behavior, not just disagreement or debate itself, which I had wanted to add. Sonelise fans shouldn't get angry at every shipper who doesn't agree, but they also shouldn't be held to a standard higher than fans of other rival ships are held to. (E.g., expected to not vent or counter argue about Notps)

Mocking people for their opinion, treating personal preferences like an attack, expecting everyone to like one's ship, are the marks of fanbrattishness. Not disagreeing with a headcanon.

I think you're interpreting my post as disagreeing with your overall point more than it really is, because I also think fans of this ship blow up far too easily, and should work on learning to either disagree respectfully, or just shrug and move on (especially in the case of others' personal tastes and ragebait)

All that I don't want are double standards.

Here is the problem a lot of people cant handle any negative comments or opinions on Elise. Instead of just ignoring it and just go on their merry way. They get into flame wars and get so worked up about it.

I have made posts about Elise and drawn Elise many times. And rarely do I ever get any negative comments from haters. And I rarely engage with people who make negative posts about her. So I don’t get all these haters that certain people tend to get.

Conversations between two opposing parties is one thing. But majority of the time it’s not about having a conversation on agree to disagree. Both sides are just trying to convince the other that they’re wrong and or stupid.

I have learned to just ignore people I dont agree with. Majority of the time it is a waste of time to engage. No amount of "logic " you throw at someone will make them change their mind. So why waste your time with it?

I used to think Eggman NEGA was an eggman clone but worse, i had to come to the conclusion on my own that he was more than that. Now I like the guy.

People would be much happier and not as stressed if they would just ignore those who just hate the character. They’re not worth the time and energy
