Jason nodded, "That's the one," before his brow arched. What the hell kinda hoity toity ass clubs....
"I promise you... the clubs we would be going to- That's never a problem. I'm serious," he told Alfred. "It's actually expected even. I know you'll enjoy yourself."
Jason smirked. Were they in the "20 questions" stage now? He rolled his neck, leaning his arms on the table with a boyish grin.
"I'm a professional big back."
He didnt give Alfred time to collect himself at the statement.
"I cook a lot but I also eat alot. I'm a growing boy, you know?" He joked, letting his arms flex, "So when I'm not in the kitchen, I'm out and about trying food. I actually post about it on my tiktok. Which is usually a combination of me cooking for my viewers or me going out to try stuff. It helps bring visibility to small businesses. Which I appreciate the most. So many good people deserve the clientele," he stated, an edge of fond protectiveness in his expression. He really wanted the little people to win. Even if it was a lemonade stand, Jason would try it and showcase it. "When I'm not doing that or obvious Hood related stuff... I read a lot. And I guess because of that I enjoy writing when I can. Mainly poetry and short stories. I... have a pseudonym but you gotta take me to dinner first before I share that," he chuckled, a faint blush on his cheeks. He kept talking, feeling very much like he was in an interview or something. He didn't really talk about himself much for someone who longed to be known and seen. But Alfred was so open and easy to talk to.
He sucked in a breath and exhaled.
"What else... hmm. Let me think... I do dance, like I said. I know its not what you're used to. But once you see how much of a community the club scene is where I'm at, you'll feel right at home. I do play the cuatro and I enjoy singing but I only do that in specific settings. A cuatro is a string instrument similar to a guitar. It's used in traditional Puerto Rican music. I remember when B took me in I felt so nervous to ask him to help me get one and he didn't even blink before buying me the best he could find. He even got me a guiro and barriles just in case and he paid for instructors to teach me- usually older Puerto Rican men from my old neighborhood. I gotta give it to the old man, he's not perfect but he definitely made sure that I was able to have a connection to my culture. Maybe I can play for you one day..." he mused.
He wondered if he should share more... then shrugged and decided "eh fuck it".
"My other family is from El Salvador and.... textiles and pottery are a huuuge thing. So I was really young when I started learning to sew and crochet and I kept it up until- well anyway I picked it back up when- uh... I can show you some of my stuff but be warned that you are sworn to secrecy. And while I enjoy the odd pottery class, they're a little gentrified for my tastes sometimes. So I tend to find local folks I can do ceramics with. I make some of my own plates and mugs. Things like that. Actually I was interested in getting into glasswork soon."
"And I guess I also work on cars for people around the neighborhood. Small household repairs. If the whole vigilante thing doesnt work out I could make an excellent handyman."
His mouth suddenly snapped shut.
Had he said way too much?
He was so bad at the whole "get to know me" part.
He wrung his hands together, glancing away, "sorry to talk your ear off. People don't usually ask me that stuff."
