"Yeah? Think I could get a sneak peek? Might get my mind off knowing how many people are out in that crowd." Aimee wasn't a fan of how the stress was getting to her, she wasn't a tense person by any means. And it wasn't like she was aiming to win anyways. It was more of a legacy thing she supposed, trying not to disrespect the thing that had pushed her mom's success. "I'm sure they won't mind if they're down a couple of girls. They probably already have a favorite lined up to win. There's girls who have been doing this most of their lives. For Rosewood clout? Yeah i'm good on that."
Lavender got to her feet and cleared her throat, tucking the joint behind her ear as she grabbed her mic as a microphone. "Wow, get a load of this crowd here. I haven't seen this much red since my last period. Ba dum dum tss," she said, doing a little wave before bowing. "What do you think? Am I gonna get tomatoes thrown at me?"Lavender nodded in understanding. She could see how it meant much more to people but she had merely been curious and she had liked how excited Chanel had been to help her. "I think people still think clout is currency but it's overrated." She pulled the joint from behind her ear and held it up. "You wanna go find somewhere to smoke this?"
"I'm amazed you didn't consider that a possibility in Rosewood." Casper laughed. Having a famous husband meant that Casper had seen quite a few interesting situations over the years. Nothing would ever compare to the antics of Rosewood. Her eyes scanned the room to find the infamous Strawberry mom. When she was finally spotted, Casper couldn't help but laugh more at how ridiculous she was being. She was grateful to have never become a pageant mom. She couldn't imagine forcing her daughter into such silly dresses. "You are bad at taking photos." There were countless blurry ones in her own camera roll. "Well, I draw the line there. Your suit is amazing."
"I can't help that I'm tall. I didn't get the artistic gene in my family. Right? I thought so to?" He did a little spin for her before dropping a kiss on her cheek. "You having fun or you chasing around kids? I need Jack to see my suit." He led them over to the bar and leaned against it. "You drinking tonight or you want a mocktail?"
"Solid point, you'd be like an adult hall monitor. Like a snitch. Nobody likes them." Jimi admitted easily, somehow freeing one of his hands to pat the taller man's shoulder. "Dude, you're like...tall." It was probably whatever he'd smoked with Lyrica earlier, but then again, that was also just Jimi. "Something people understand is how important it is to feel good with what you're wearing, so you're killing it. Your suit reminds me of Olivia Rodrigo, and that's a compliment."
"Jimi, I'm not like tall, I am tall but thank you for noticing. You guys smoke without me already? And here I was with strawberry favors. The local office of cannabis gave us some freebies. Olivia Rodrigo? Retro, I like it." He shrugged off his blazer though, feeling a little warm already and reached into his coat pocket for the pre rolls he had been referring to. "What have you been up to? You seen any of my sisters? I told Lav I'd smoke with her when she inevitably bails from the pageant."
"You gotta get on your knees, man. Hit the deep squat like your jam just came on at the club," Rocky demonstrated by doing a quick little slut drop before bouncing back up. "Bonus is that women not only love it when you get their picture from the right angle, they also love a man on their knees." He winked, firing off two enthusiastic finger guns. "Oh yeah, I'm all about it. Anyone who thinks they're too cool to get involved is like... boooooo..." Given Josh seemed to be feeling himself, Rocky whipped his phone out, taking a few paces back before he did as he'd suggested and popped a squat to get a good angle, "Alright, come on, let me get you on film Strawberry President. Hit your power pose, baby!"
"Wow, thank you for that...very helpful advice. I think you overestimate my knee strength though." He laughed, knowing he could probably use some help when it came to women so he wasn't going to shy away from a helpful tip. "Exactly. No one likes a negative nancy, debbie downer, wow there's gotta be one that's for a guy, uh, emo earle? negative..neal? Fuck that doesn't sound as good. Danny Downer could work though." Josh was actually blushing when Rocky went to take photos of him and his laugh made it evident. But he tried to lean in and put his arms over his chest as he stared into the camera. "Does that look powerful or kinda stiff?"
"I've been sewn into this dress for hours, some of these girls have threatened to gouge each others eyes with their louboutin's, and I still have to somehow bullshit my way through the talent portion." Aimee shifted uncomfortably, feeling out of place, off to the side of the stage in between segments. Pageants weren't her thing but she had reluctantly agreed to participate this once to humor her mom who had already won the thing back when she was her age. "You think anyone would notice if I made a break for it?"
"I was thinking of doing stand up comedy." Lavender looked up from where she had been focused on rolling a joint, deciding that the stress emanating from this tent was too much for the moment. She had entered the pageant on a whim. Thinking, 'I like strawberries, why not' but she had been a bit surprised as to how people could turn something joyful into something stressful. "Honestly? Probably not. But only if you take me with you. I don't know if this crowd is going to appreciate my humor."
"You think you could fine her for lack of town spirit?" He had no clue if Josh had the power to do that, but he looked like it. Jimi sipped from his strawberry matcha, his other hand holding onto something that resembled an empanada, though according to the lady who had sold it to him had strawberry and cheese in it. Strange combo. He gestured at his suit, "Think this is better than most of those flag-themed suits people wear on July 4th."
"I could but that would look incredibly lame on my part," he admitted. "I don't know if I want to be known as the ticket giver guy. Rule stickler. It's already bad enough people think I'm a square." He smiled at his suit, feeling good about it. "Appreciate it. I'm trying to be more festive. This place has so many events it's kind of like Halloween all of the time. I think I can get down with that in the long term. I've recently realized I don't mind a bit of a dress up." He kind of loved a theme but he was pretty sure that was just Chanel's impact.
"Sounds like you're lucky you made it out alive." Rocky was nothing if not eternally jovial, giving Josh a clap on the shoulder in consolation. Besides, he knew he definitely wasn't talking about his mom since both she and Buffy only went along with the pageant thing for the benefit of his grandmother. "Gonna be honest you don't look like the kind of guy who knows angles but that's on her. And she's wrong about your suit. You're perfectly on theme. On some Strawberry President shit. I'm a strawberry too," he gestured to the green cap he was wearing backwards, and his red shirt, shorts, and shoes. "It'd be different if you came as a blueberry. That'd be a massive faux pas and you'd probably be exiled from town, so..."
"It's because I'm tall, man. It's hard for me to get people's height pictured well. I just either get too much air or not enough forehead." He looked down at his suit and smiled. "Strawberry President sounds very respectable. I like that." He looked over Rocky's outfit and smiled. "You really went all out, man. Way to have spirit. Yeah I don't know if blue head to toe is really my color palette. I'd kind of end of looking like that girl in that really old Willy Wonka movie. I think the red really complements my skin. I don't look as pale as usual."
"I didn't think I would be able to cross 'getting scolded by a pageant mom dressed as a strawberry' to the list of things I've experienced but here we are." Even though Willa had stepped down as Mayor last year, he was still working for local government, waiting for the right candidate to back. Instead he was doing all sorts of random shit which included helping the Board of Legislators show off their check to the pageant winners. "Apparently I didn't know how to get her daughter's angles in the picture I was taking on her busted Galaxy phone." He looked down at his strawberry patterned suit. "She also called my suit tacky but I love it."

Chanel listened to Jasper, seeing that those long hours of law schooling were certainly coming out of him as he easily found himself navigating a situation that would have definitely been messy for anyone but him. "My boyfriend is an actual lawyer, my god." She teased him, finding it to be quite adorable. "No, not the strobe lights. It's the blush that's really doing it for me right now." Chanel mumbled against his lips, happily living in that moment with him. "Is it?" Chanel asked. "I don't know if I feel the same way, I've just been enjoying seeing her in this new light." She let her boyfriend know as his mother had always been a character, but now she'd found someone who allowed her to be but also brought her back down to earth every so often. It was really cute to see. "You know, you had me at greasy, delicious, opposite of nutritious, you did." Chanel told Jasper, as she'd pulled out the stops to fit into her ensemble tonight and all she wanted was to eat. "I happen to love everything very nice and sexy, so lead the way." She said, pressing another quick kiss to Jasper's lips.
"Only in theory, really. All I've done so far is read a bunch of books," he joked. One more year and he would be that much closer and yet he had mixed emotions about it. "Yes well that's because you're better at optimism than I am and also you didn't grow up with her but I do love your support. You're right. She's having fun and she deserves it." He kissed her back before sliding one of his hands into hers to gently lead her out of the crowded dancefloor. The further they got away from the crowd, the more he felt like he could breathe and he could feel his shoulders relax once he finally stepped into the fresh cool air of the night. "Now that's the stuff," he joked as he took a deep breath. "I'll call us a car," he dropped her hand in favor of sliding his arm around her shoulders as he used his other hand to handle his phone. "I can admit that I don't regret coming out tonight though. Very worth leaving the house, even with the definite hangover I'm gonna have in the morning."
Tate wasn't one to hold on to bad feelings, they didn't do anything for him, so he told himself that he needed to move on as he had plenty of time to lick his wounds even if he didn't quite get the closure that he wanted with Chanel or Jasper. "Oh really? The label didn't say that." The fact that he'd just offered Jasper something for sex made Tate feel a little awkward, but Jasper seemed to be fine, then again Jasper hadn't felt for him what he'd felt so that made sense, "You've been looking for me? Why?" Jasper was charming and goofy and yeah his energy was infectious so Tate danced along with him, feeling like before when they hung out more for a moment. "Does being offered all those poppers mean those guys were hitting on me? Cool, can't wait to tell Jupiter."
"Well because I knew you'd be having a good time and I needed to have a good time and because who wouldn't want to be in your company at a party? Plus, I've missed you man," he admitted, wanting Tate to know that he was important to him. Things had felt distant lately and Jasper knew knew he had made a mess of it. Failed to communicate clearly when faced with the affections of both of his best friends. He still couldn't say he knew how he felt but he knew how calm he had felt the moment he had seen Tate in the crowd. "Yeah probably. That or they just really liked your vibe and wanted to share. Probably both. Yeah I think I saw your sister a little while ago teaching someone about their astrological chart. I should have her do mine some time. I keep getting sucked into zodiac tik tok, man. It's getting out of control."
Despite the Lisbons being the most sheltered people of all time, Bridget hadn't actually paid all that much attention to the fact that various states of undress seemed to be a part of the dress code that she'd missed. Shame had been the default for her for so long that all she cared about was that she felt as radiant as her sisters told her she was. "I don't think short and stunning narrows it down either," she perused the crowd, wondering which stunning woman he was referring to. "Tate? Ahadi? He's your best friend?" Her surprise was evident even if she tried to play it down, and a knowing smile crept onto her face. "Guess we're looking for the same person."
Jasper's eyes widened as she spoke and he felt a little embarrassed that he hadn't recognized her. He didn't expect himself too but he felt like for someone who was calling Tate his best friend, he should at the very least recognize his girlfriend when he saw her. But they hadn't been introduced and Jasper had only known her by name. Although his and Tate's hang out time together hadn't been as consistent recently, it hadn't been non existent. But Jasper knew that he hadn't asked enough questions and maybe he had been acting a bit too much like his father. Waiting for everything to come to him instead of confronting it. "You're Bridget?" He smiled as he looked at her, feeling immense gratitude for the person who was helping Tate happy. "I'm Jasper, it is, very cool to meet you. First round is definitely on me and honestly we'll probably narrow down finding Tate the closer we get to the dance floor."
Tate had gotten sidetracked, but he wasn't even sure what his original track was considering there was so much to get distracted by. Of all of the events in Rosewood pride had to be top 3, and it wasn't 3. He especially was partying a little harder considering his own sexuality was in flux following the brief but disastrous throuple situation he'd found himself in with Jasper and Chanel - it had caused him heartache, but it also gave him more clarity on himself and it was pride so what better place to acknowledge that he was proud of himself. That was more just between himself and himself though, it wasn't like he was walking around going move, I started falling for my best friend once. Every new song that came on got Tate more fired up so he found himself dancing with so many people, hence getting so sidetracked, "Oh hey...you should be dancing, this song rules. Oh do you want a popper? I read the label you clean tapes with them or something but I don't own any tapes, people keep giving them to me though so I guess they're like party favors?"
Jasper hadn't wanted to dance but his mother had pushed him to join them, insisting that he have some more fun. And that was easy to do the moment he saw Tate dancing in the midst of the crowd. It brought a lightness out of him that was all too familiar and he gravitated towards where he was, his eyes widening at the mention of poppers. "They have a multifaceted use, dude," he clarified. Trying his best to move along to the music despite knowing he couldn't match Tate's energy pace just yet. "I'm no expert but I think people use them for like sex related stuff," he added, not wanting Tate to just take whatever but if he wanted to then he supported it. Not that he needed to say something like that out loud. "I've been looking for you, man, knew you wouldn't miss a Pride party. Hey, I actually know this song!" He paused and started to move his head along to it before actually attempting to dance, sure that he was making a fool of himself but for the moment he was okay with that.
"You know what? I'm going to let you have that one." Chanel let her boyfriend know, as she did have to admire that trait about Jasper. He was very conscious of making sure that not only he, but everyone else around him was great. Whilst they were major supporters of the community being celebrated tonight, they weren't members of it which meant that yeah, perhaps their time to leave was coming up. "Well that just won you a really good night once we're home." Chanel let him know, with a playful wink. "But, I'm going to pull up her tiktok once we're in the car, you're going to at least agree she kind of gives me a run for my money." Chanel shook her head as Jasper spoke. "I just think you look really beautiful in this moment." She let him know, before leaning in to press a small kiss to his lips.
"I feel like this is a dangerous game to agree to. Why would I want to even play that? I mean I'll watch the videos of course but I will stand my ground," he joked before his cheeks turned pink at her words. "Yeah? Does these strobe lights really bring out my eyes?" He kissed her back, holding her closer to him for a moment before kissing her cheek. "I have to admit I had a lot of fun with my moms. It's still...weird to see my mom in love. Like she's still herself, chaotic and unpredictable but also somehow fun and grounded and I guess genuinely happy." Jaspers parents had been divorced for a long time and he had only seen them live their lives with resentment or jumping from the next marriage to the next. It was a welcome adjustment to see his mother living a different life. It reminded him that anyone could start over or change their mind or create a new life for themselves if they wanted to. "I think we should leave, go find ourselves a greasy, delicious, opposite of nutritious late night meal because I have astronomically high munchies and then go home. To our comfy cozy cute apartment. Does that sound nice because I think that sounds very nice and sexy."
The sight of her boyfriend's smile, only filled her with that much more joy. To see him in better spirits, surrounded by nothing but love and great vibes was exactly what Jasper had needed. "I thought we didn't fall for unwritten laws, those don't happen to hold up very well in court." She teased, having heard things like this all her life given who her father was. And now, who she happened to be dating. "Well, that's a reason I can definitely get behind." Chanel let him know, before asking him if they could stick around for two more songs. If it was the ally's time to go home, she would respectfully bow out as well. "I do, don't I?" She asked him, turning back around so she was facing him. "It is. Actually borrowed it from this really incredible queen, Plastique Tiara. Yeah, she's like prettier than me if you could believe such a thing." Chanel intertwined her fingers with his, just taking in the sight of him in that moment.
"Well in the court of life, different rules apply, I believe." Despite how overwhelming all of this people time had been, he was happy to stay a little longer if it meant being close to her. "I actually can't believe such a thing but if that's what you're saying I won't try to argue you too hard. Out loud at least." His smile turned up as she looked at him, feeling a rush of warmth run through his chest. "What, do I have something on my face or you're just really into my dance moves?"
