Untranslatable Words
Greng-jai (Thai) - The feeling you get when you do not want something to do for you because it will be a pain for them. Much like "Do unto others" without the "as you would like to be treated".
Toska (Russian) - A state of mind with many different shades.
Mamihlapinatapai (Yagan) - This is the word for the look shared between two people, who both desire to initiate something but are reluctant to start.
Koi No Yokan (Japanese) - A sense that upon first meeting another person, that the two of them are going to fall in love eventually.
Fernweh/Wanderlust (German) - The opposite of home-sicknesses, a desire or longing to travel.
Wabi-sabi (Japanese) - A flawed part of an elegant whole.
Ya’aburnee (Arabic) - Declaration of one’s wishes that they will die before another person because it would be impossible to live without them.
Saudade (Portuguese) - An intense, constant longing for something that does not and probably cannot exist. Cafuné (Brazilian Portuguese): The act of tenderly running your fingers through someone’s hair.
