Collaboration is when you work with someone to produce a product or outcome of some sort of project.
Collaboration is important in many ways.
1. Collaboration is great when working on a project. It allows the team to join together on the same level. They now can work towards the same goal together with each of their individual ideas and thinking process. This helps create a better and more thought out end product.
2. Collaborating provides value.
Collaboration is effective when the result of collaboration is greater and of more value than results of what individuals could achieve on their own.
When collaboration is a waste of time.
Avoidance of accountability
In order for collaboration to work well there are some rules that should be followed:
1. Choose who you are going to collaborate with. don’t just collaborate with someone or a team just because it seems like a good opportunity. Find out a bit more about the people you are potentially thinking of collaborating with before you make a decision.
2. Make sure you decide who will be working on what from the start of the project.
3. Stick to what you have been tasked with. As long as everyone sticks to what they have been allocated, things will run smoothly.
4. Be open and honest to the people you are collaborating with.
6. Don’t forget to communicate.
7. Always acknowledge and cite your collaborators.
8. Always be open to advise.
Who would i collaborate with:
I would collaborate with people who have got a couple years of experience in the world of design. This would help me grow as a designer and give me a better insight to how collaboration in the design world works and how people can benefit from it. Collaborating with young designers who are starting out in the design world would be a good way to start collaborating with others. I feel that collaborating with someone that is on the same level of understanding as I am within the design world would be beneficial for both of us or a team of us in learning and growing within our own design capabilities.
Who shouldn’t you collaborate with:
When collaborating, one should avoid collaborating with someone who is not a team player. Someone who will not listen to what you have to say and someone who takes over and doesn’t let you work on the same level of respect.
Radical collaboration and typical collaboration.
Radical collaboration is based on the key principles of design. the purpose of radical collaboration is to learn, offer and embrace different perspectives when it comes to problem solving, ideas and finding a solution to a problem.
Radical collaboration brings people from different fields and backgrounds together. this creates a collaboration where there are many different skills, abilities and thinking preferences in order to develop better solutions.
Radical collaboration differs from conventional collaboration because it has been designed to embrace many different perspectives as where conventional collaboration simply relies on “so-called-experts”.
