Trump acting as if he’ll accept Christian Refugees as if his most recent actions didn’t directly affect MENA Christians is so infuriating. I’m sick and tired of my people being used as political pawns by western governments to support their own islamaphobia—I’m tired of false promises and exemptions being made to MENA Christians as if whites actually respect us and our culture. Don’t get it twisted–white people hate us too, they don’t care about my religion at all–we’re all dirty brown immigrants in their eyes.

It is SO annoying when people go “har har har Islam isn’t a race.” Yeah, Islam isn’t a race, I’m not gonna argue that it is. But I know what you’re saying when you say you hate Muslims. You’re not imagining white, blonde, pale people– you’re imaging brown and black people. You’re imaging POC. And since the average person in the West seems to equate Muslim with Arab, you’re also probably thinking of an Arab.

Islamophobia is racialized. Yes, if you say you hate Muslims, I’m going to assume you’re racist. Fucking deal.

Additionally, the fact that Middle Eastern and South & Southeast Asian Hindus, Sikhs and Christians also experience Islamophobic hate crimes (and I’ve even heard of Arab-looking Latinx people experiencing them) shows that Islamophobia is racialized.
