Jazzreloaded Season 5 celebrates stakeholders and participants in the jazzreloaded project, 25 years after its inception, and at the end of the international decade of People Of African Descent [ UN Resolution 68/237]
The traditional African Sankofa symbol In the design of the Jazzreloaded logo represents the African Cultural Tradition of of "Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi" (translated from the Akan language to mean "it is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot") , underlining how important it is for the jazz names of today to look and give back to the artists and styles of yesteryear.
Jazzreloaded Season 5.0 connects into this ancient and sacred tradition by looking back on The International Decade of People Of African Descent [ UN resolution 68.237] , which aimed to celebrate the important contributions of people of African descent worldwide, advance social justice and inclusion policies, eradicate racism and intolerance, promote human rights, and assist in creating better, more prosperous communities, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals spearheaded by the United Nations.
Jazzreloaded Season 5.0 represents the culmination of that golden thread, those tightly held relationships, brought to the listener in hot music and cool conversation ( sometimes the other way around !) , and the continuation of the union of jazz music and artists to themes of physical social justice which, in our virtual media age, ring louder and truer than ever.
Jazzreloaded Season 5.0 will host innovative and culturally relevant discourse, engaging with established practitioners to produce new and exciting and culturally relevant work, simultaneously shining a light on fringe contributions to UK jazz culture, custom and context

Call For Permanent Exhibition And National Curriculum Inclusion
The impact of Black British music cannot be overstated. It has contributed billions in revenue for the UK economy and continues to shape global music trends, serving as a powerful force for social change. Through its ability to foster collaboration and unity across diverse communities, Black British music has become an essential part of the nation’s cultural fabric.
We are seeing a profound and growing interest in the history of Black British music: whether in the British Library’s “Beyond the Bassline” exhibition celebrating 500 years of Black British music; the “2 Tone: Lives & Legacies” exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry; “Dub London” at The London Museum; Google’s “Union Black: Sounds of a Nation”, or the forthcoming “The Music is Black” exhibition at V&A East.
This call is for a permanent exhibition to recognise and celebrate African and Caribbean performances, recordings and contributions to the evolution of genres that have reshaped British culture, while safeguarding rare artefacts, recordings, memorabilia, and untold stories for future generations. The exhibition space would dynamically explore the past while continuously reflecting the ever-evolving contributions of Black British musicians to the nation’s cultural landscape.

Known for his rich tone and smooth melodic lines on the five-string bass, Malcolm recorded and toured with top artists like Robert Glasper and Terri Lyne Carrington. He earned Grammy recognition along the way. His 2022 album Hiding in Plain View showed just how much he had grown as a bassist and composer with its fresh mix of jazz and spoken word.
Malcolm often talked about how bass playing and acting are connected. Both take focus, emotion, and constant work to improve. His dedication and respect for the craft inspired many of us.
As we remember Malcolm-Jamal Warner today it is his bass playing that will stay with us the groove, the soul, and the poetry. His musical legacy is a reminder that you can follow your passion beyond the spotlight and create something truly meaningful.
Rest in groove Malcolm.
