Art of Culture Street

Penang got a “street mural”, in JB Culture Street also got many awesome mural design. A traditional street also got some cute and fashion mural. Oh! I know I can use what word to describe this street, “Old Street has a young hearts”. So that, if you are a tourist and you are watching this blog, you must come here and have a look and take a photo. That will definitely not let you regret.

Big Bites Cafe

If you are coffee lovers or you are a couple and want to find a place to dating, then you could come here, this place definitely is a good place to dating, Big Bites Café. Big Bites Café is located beside the Hiap Joo Bakery & Biscuit Factory. Beside Big Bites Café, there are a space for let people parking at there. In this café, there are many delicious food. Besides that, the price of there are not very expensive, still at the area of acceptable. So, I recommend the tourist who loves to go this type café must go to try a time.

Restaurant Toast & Coffee

Restoran Toast & Coffee is also a shop that famous in toast. The environment of Toast & Coffee is very beautiful and comfortable. When I enjoyed my breakfast at there, I feel very relax. There is a good place for us have a meal with family and friends. I will go back again if I have go to Jalan Tan Hiok Nee.

Their toast and coffee are delicious. I ordered a Tuna Toast, Butter Kaya Toast, and a cup of coffee. I prefer to the Butter Kaya Toast, it is because the kaya is very tasty and fragrant. The coffee also not bad.

Restaurant IT Roo Café

Restoran IT Roo Café just as their own said that “The best chicken chop in town”, this can show their confident of their chicken chop. They are not only selling the chicken chop, they are also selling some fried rice, some noodles and so on. There are many dishes for us make the choice. People who like chicken chop will definitely love the chicken chop of Restoran IT Roo Café.

I prefer to eat the fried chicken chop with mushroom sauce. And this is because when you slice it open, what you get is the white and tender meat. It is not very oily. You can eat it with the mushroom sauce, that is very delicious. Each piece of chicken pieces is equipped with potato wedges and cold cabbage.

Restaurant Amphawa Boat Noodle

Restoran Amphawa Boat Noodle is a Thai Restaurant that is selling Thai foods and some Thai drinks. It also has sold some ice cream. The environment of the restaurant is very leisurely and graceful. I think the price of food is reasonable.

It is selling the noodles in a special way. One bowl of noodle only need one mouth to eat. One bowl noodle only need RM1.90. There have 4 flavour for us do choices.

Salahuddin Bakery

Salahuddin Bakery has a long history and selling traditional bread, cakes and pastries in Johor Bahru Culture Street. Salahuddin Bakery is using the old-fashioned way, using a 70 years old wood-fired oven, to bake bread, cakes and pastries. Its signature is the Indian curry puff which is large triangular shaped and loaded with fillings inside. It is very lucky that we can find this kind of old-fashioned bread, especially good tasting ones.

This is the curry puff that served in Salahuddin Bakery with highly recommended.

Koone

In the Culture Street, there are many café and ice cream shop had been established. The Koone is a special ice cream shop in those café and ice cream shop. It is designed by the soft colour paint that emerged a comfortable environment for us can relax. There is a good place for us meeting with friends.

This is a Hokkaido Matcha that is a matcha flavour ice cream. It is delicious and fragrant. It is perfect for eating on hot days. I will buy to eat if I have reach there again.

Restaurant Yong Lock Huang

Restaurant Yong Lock Huang is an old restaurant in Johor Bahru Culture Street. It is selling traditional noodles with soup and stuffed foods. Although the store facilities are not good enough, but the foods they serve are very delicious and absolutely comparable to famous restaurant. Besides, the price is also lower than other restaurants which sell noodles.

Restaurant Qin Garden Kopitiam

Restaurant Qin Garden Kopitiam is also one of the restaurant which selling traditional breakfast. Due to it just moved to new shop, its environment is very good and clean, so that we can enjoy our breakfast in the shop. There is also a stall which selling malay dishes at equitable price. Qin Garden’s coffee is also is my cup of tea because it is not too sweet and fragant.

This is the Malay fried rice noodles and it is only RM 4. It is enough for me because it is a consideration portion of rice noodles.

Restaurant Hua Mui

Restaurant Hua Mui is a restaurant that over 70 years and serving the community with the most authentic local flavor. Besides, Restaurant Hua Mui have launched out new outlet in 2008 and 2015, which located at Sutera and Mount Austin. The traditional charcoal baked bread and coffee are the signature of Restaurant Hua Mei.      

In addition, the half-boiled eggs and milo are also very tasty and we enjoyed in Restaurant Hua Mui.

Street Performance

In Culture Street, there are some make a living as a street performer occasionally. They will provide the best performance such as singing, dancing or play some musical instrument.

In the picture above show that two of street performer are playing musical instrument.

We can give some money after they perform or during they perform if you think they are performing very well. Anyone come to culture street and haven’t fate to meet them and watch their excellent performance, you will feel regret.

Performance by Five Major Organization

In Culture Street, five major will held culture street performance every year during Chinese New Year. This performance will invite many different mass organization to perform such as VR Wushu Academy, lion dance of Hainan Association and Martial Art of LeeWushuArt.

Restaurant Triple K

Restaurant Triple K is the noodles shop that famous with beef noodles in Culture Street Johor Bahru. It also has sold fish noodle, mutton noodle, pork noodle and so forth. So, if you don’t want to eat the beef noodles, there have other good choice for you. The mutton noodle is also very delicious. Its staff is very friendly and have a good service to me.

The Beef Kway Teow Noodle is my favourite food in Restaurant Triple K. It is delicious, but the soup taste is little salty. I also like to eat its beef meatball. People who like to eat beef noodles can go and try to eat.

Chaiwalla & Co.

Chaiwalla & Co. is a café famous for its milk tea, other than milk tea the café also serves cakes. This café is located at Jalan Tan Hiok Nee in Johor Bahru Culture Street which is nearby the famous Johor Bahru City Square Mall. There is a nearby carpark that bring convenience to customers. Moreover, this café is originally build up with a container then renovated into a café with shelter above it. Chaiwalla & Co. is previously known as Container Café due to its appearance where they operate the café with a container.

This is the milk tea being serve in Chaiwalla & Co. The price of the milk tea RM11.80, it is considered a reasonable price because café in Johor Bahru serve drinks with similar price. The milk tea has a silky smooth and not so sweet taste. I believe lots of people including tourist enjoys the milk tea served by Chaiwalla & Co.
