I’m Jennifer Chan, an nonbinary illustrator/cartoonist from New Jersey. I’m available and currently seeking work in kidlit/children’s and middle-grade media industry such as picture book, cover, and vis dev. 

For many years I’ve contributed colorful comics and illustrations to various anthologies that range from themes of light hearted autobiographical to cozy fantasy. My recent work includes a marketing illustration for an indie video game that explores themes of Asian diaspora.

I found some of my work from 6+ years ago when I first started in digital painting and was really pushing for kidlit art. I still enjoy these drawings quite a bit so I'll upload some throwbacks every so often.

Hi! It's been about 11 months since I updated anything on ALL of my social media platforms. I think for many of us we're feeling the turmoil of "life is hard" and career wise idk if any of this industry gets better/easier so that's been rough, but I'm trying to get back with updating and sharing things I made. One of the funnier things about that are most or all platforms seems to be split with algorithm/AI take overs and I'm not too sure of where to build a audience anymore or if that sort of thing matters to me so I find myself logging back on tumblr like it's 2012 forgetting the reasons on why I left in the first place.

Here's a illustration of Barbie I drew last year, I never posted it here on tumblr. It's based on a vintage postcard I was given by a friend and I redrew it in my style for funsies.

🖤Kat, Raúl, and Bearzebub from Wendell and Wild for #fanart friday.

This is one of those special movies that I watched maybe two months ago and I still think about it and wish there was more to see especially with side characters. Also it has possibly what I think is one of the best soundtracks of all time which is a wonderful love letter to Afro-punk music. I must have listened to it at least three times on repeat so go see it if you haven’t.

Btw if you’re still reading this I appreciate you, also if you haven’t been up to date with my other socials I started archiving my journal comics on ko-fi rather than webtoons. One of the things I didn’t enjoy is the ranking system on that webtoons and I never intended to make my journal comics for that reason so I think kofi will be better to keep me on task with updates.

🌿🌸I went outside (& touched grass :⁠-⁠D) and took advantage of the gorgeous spring weather to take some new photos of my pins and charms. I’m glad I got these photos when I did because all the blooms went away in a flash in a few days. It’s satisfying seeing them side by side in a set. I have just one more pin design left that’ll be revealed next month!

💫Hey hey! I have exciting news! I did this commission for @midautumngame . The running theme of Asian diaspora with a nonbinary protagonist really hits home for me so I was completely happy to draw chibi Robin in human and spirit form for this gorgeous indie game.

Last week I did some quick “finger painting” doodles on my tablet as drawing warm ups in the morning for fun. Haha my memory is really bad when it came to the Pokémon drawing. Anything new or more complicated than a round circle Pokémon went mush in my brain. 🙈
