“Why do I feel like you are teaching me sometimes too?” Pearl questioned, amusement playing over her lips as she smiled at the man. “But yes, I know we are. It’s just hard to watch them being upset and concerned about their families wellbeing and not being able to do something about it. No amount of telling them that they will be okay fixes that.” She explained, giving a sigh and a soft shrug. “How are you feeling?” Knowing that sometimes the others situation could take its toll.

“Because you’re far easier to teach then a bunch of snotty nosed kids, that and you actually listen to what I say most of the time.” Joshua pointed out, because he was sure most of his lessons went in one ear of the student and then out the other more or less straight afterwards. “Peachy.” He commented, with a small smile. “Or well, more like slightly irritable, but that happens. It’ll wear off in a couple of days.”

“Yikes,” Vera couldn’t help but say, watching the explosion of coffee and papers happen in front of the door. She got up from her seat, especially when she recognized the other and tried to help collect what had fallen to the floor. “When it dries it’ll give all of these that old parchment aesthetic,” she tried to put a positive spin on things. “Sorry though, that sucks. Maybe you should try a café that does table service to avoid this happening again?”

“Indeed.” Joshua commented, looking at the mess that was currently in front and on him. “I’ll tell them they were chosen and get extra points or something so they don’t call me out for being careless.” Joshua commented, dabbing lightly at the parchment in hopes that it would soak up at least some of the liquid. “I mean, would that really prevent this from happening, I could still easily knock over a mug. Maybe they should give me a sippy cup instead.”

Spotting his brother, Archer made a beeline to help him out for everything in his arms. But as it toppled over Josh, he let out an involuntary gasp. “Oh shoot– are you okay, bro?” Archer asked, running over to his older brother in a panic as he tried to salvage some stray papers. “Maybe you should’ve used some magic to help carry all of this stuff.”

“Yeah, I’m doing great. Splendid even. Totally meant for all of this to happen.” He sighed, laying some napkins over the now damp parchment as he made a move to try and collect the ones that were now on the floor before people stood on them. “I mean that was probably a smart idea, but I like to think of myself as capable. That and I may have just been a little too lazy to get my wand out and thought I had everything under control.”

Nesta had been observing Joshua only for a short while, but it as enough to notice that he probably was in need of some help. She decided to wait for a moment to see if things were going to improve, but as soon as she heard his exclamation, she knew there was no time to wait. She quickly stood up from her seat and pointed her wand at the escaping pieces of parchment to stop them from moving. “You okay in there?” She asked Joshua casually.

“Oh yeah, you know, having a whale of a time.” Joshua commented, with a small wave of his hand, trying to decide the order of importance on what to save and realizing his shirt was probably low on the priority list. “I just really thought these assessments were so bad that they didn’t deserve to be graded so I threw them out to the wind.” He joked, one hand trying to dab the damp parchment whilst the other tried to reach the papers on the floor that had escaped him.

“Shit, shit, shit.” Joshua cursed, wishing he hadn’t decided to be spontaneous and bring his marking out of the castle in order to get a decent cup of coffee and a slice of cake. He was trying his best to try and collect what was close to him, whilst also reaching for his wand for those that escaped his grasp and were potentially going to be lost among patrons and the open cafe door. In his eager dash to try and rescue his students work, he also managed to knock his half full coffee cup on himself and onto the parchment he had saved. “Bollocks.”

“I’m hoping that if you’re sitting there, you’re not just going to be drinking soft drinks for the night.” Silas commented, because he really wasn’t going to and if he ended up with the company of someone who was doing the opposite, he could only imagine that he wouldn’t be enjoyable to be around for the other male.

“You know that sounds a lot like peer pressure and pretty sure it’s a bad trait for you to have given you’re a professor.” Joshua told the other with a rather pointed look, “But of course I’m going to have something stronger then this, I just needed to quench my thirst before hitting the harder stuff.”

“I’m alright, truthfully. I guess sometimes everyone wishes that they could be more useful than they are, especially after a situation like this.” And right now, Pearl felt very much as though she was giving nothing useful to the cause and it made her somewhat frustrated. “Take my mind off it a little? Tell me what interesting things are going on in the life of Professor Selwyn at the moment then?”

“I guess if we all wanted a part in helping out in a more physical way then we’d all have become Aurors.” Joshua told the other. “We were doing our part by helping out here and keeping the kids safe, that’s a big part of helping out even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time.” He continued. “I wish I could tell you my life is exciting, but it’s not. I’m currently winding down from the full moon after all, still finding twigs in my hair and what not.”

JOSHUA: I don't think he's going to make a run for it out of the flat. But it the call was so I could hear you and make sure /you're/ okay. Not Thor.

JOSHUA: I might be allowed to leave soon by the looks of things, so hopefully we'll be together before the next hour is up.

JOSHUA: I am, thankfully. I'm not sure the kids could take a hit on the castle right now.

JOSHUA: He's not going to pee on your shoes, I think there are still some puppy pads under the sink. You can set them out in the bathroom and let him go in there, I'll clean it up when I get back.

JOSHUA: Thank you. Are you okay? I can call you if you want to talk to me rather then text?

JOSHUA: I kind of wish you were here right now.

JOSHUA: I'm at the castle, so I'm safe. Trying to keep the kids calm when I'm also freaking out.

“It’s okay,” he insisted to the owner after the dog had jumped up onto him. It had left two slightly dirty paw marks on his pants, but Damien showed the other that he didn’t mind. “That’s a very cute dog. What’s his name?” he asked as he scratched it up on its head.

“Are you sure? Because I like to think I raised him better then that.” Joshua told the other, cringing ever so slightly upon looking at the mess the dog had left on the other, despite the animals in question seeming to not have a care in the world. “Thor.” He smiled. “Though he’s not quite a Norse God and more like great oaf.” He chuckled, reaching down to pet the dogs head.

Seung sighed. While he understood where Joshua’s worries were coming from, he truly did, he just couldn’t imagine himself ever doing the same. “If you keep worrying like that, you’re going to get more wrinkles. And you know me, I won’t be able to stop myself from saying ‘I told you so’ every single day,” he pointed out. “The least you know, the better, trust me.”

“Wait- more wrinkles? You say that like I have wrinkles now.” He frowned, trying to find something reflective to check his appearance in, worried that he was in fact, wrinkly. “And yes, I am aware that you’ll tell me that all the time. But you can’t blame me for being stressed and worried given where we live.” Because combined with him wolfing out every month, he had to deal with Death Eaters terrorizing the place. “I do trust you, but I thought we didn’t keep secrets. You know all of mine, why can’t I know yours?”

“Hold up, they said what?” Caspian felt like he needed that one repeating again, almost having choked on the beer he’d just been drinking. He wiped the droplets from his mouth and gave a hearty laugh. “You know, this is yet another reason I would never be a teacher.”

“Oh I think you heard me the first time, the beer down your chin speaks for itself.” Joshua commented with a shake of his head, before sighing and taking a drink from his own pint. “Honestly, I’m so tired of being sassed by my students. It’s not like I can even punish half of them either, because even though I’ve been knocked down a peg or two, I’m genuinely impressed by their comebacks.”

“So I’m safe to assume you don’t know how to reverse or stop this either?” she asked as a suspicious whirring noise started to come from the beaker. “I mean there are a few reversing spells we could try, not sure if they’ll be as affective as an Uno card though.”

“Very safe, I’m hoping the logic of if you ignore it the problem will just go away will apply to this situation. But I have a really strong feeling that if I do ignore it, it’s going to get worse. And maybe flammable.” He continued, trying to think of how to put a end to the mess that he caused without making things a whole lot worse. “Well I can’t expect anything to be as effective as an Uno card and those things are the strongest piece of magic any wizard or witch has ever seen.”

Theo laughed, “You know I’m not sure dogs can get into duels,” he said as if he had to think about it, “Ah so it’s an attention thing. That makes sense. Dogs do require quite a bit of attention.”

“There’s this dog on TikTok who challenges her owner with a sword, so pretty sure it can happen.” Joshua pointed out to the other, reminding himself that he needed to go see if there were any new videos of said dog uploaded. “I think so, or an affection thing, or a me not consulting with him before getting a dog thing.”
