NEW LOVE x OLD LOVE
I will forever remember this day. The day he announced his goodbye to basketball...
Mad respect to the Biebs. You real for this b.
What’s good Tumblr. I haven’t been on this for a minute. Anyway, I just want to say to those who still follow me that I appreciate you for STILL doing so. Tumblr was a great outlet years ago, but I barely ever check this thing.
Anyway, let me get this off my chest, SNEAKERS. I don’t care for them as much anymore. I realized that sure, I’ll cop a few things here and there, but honestly, the whole aspect of “Wanting the latest sneaker, retro, Kobe, technology, etc” isn’t ideal when you’re getting older. And no, i’m not old, it’s just priorities change as time goes on. We learn to put a value on certain things and quite frankly, sneakers was on that pedestal. Time also gives us a broader perspective on life, and I simply grew out of it. My passion for it is still there. I still love basketball. I still love shoes. I just don’t buy anything anymore.
The last pair of Jordan’s I bought came out earlier in the year, the Chicago AJ 1′s. Then I bought three pairs since and that’s about it. That’s what, like 4-7 pairs of shoes this year? LOL. When i started, I bought 4-7 pairs within months, possibly even weeks.
I learned to be content with what I got. You see, when you buy that next retro or next whatever model you like, that feeling you get is great right? You add another to the collection and your count. “Yes, that makes my collection count to 94. That’s one closer to 100″. But look, it’s all temporary. It’s a cycle and that’s where they get us man. Once you have what you want, a week later you’ll find that another sneaker is in the makes and you’ll want that. Then later on, you’ll find out a new model is being made and you’ll want that too. And then say you need to test them out and need the latest and greatest shoe to hoop in. For what? You have 80 other basketball sneakers you hardly ever wear, yet you want this NEW Steph Curry model. STEP BACK and really see what you’re saying? Crazy isn’t it?
When i’m at the mall, I see people walk past sneakers and look at Jordan’s and think nothing of it. They could see some Yeezy’s on someone’s feet and think nothing of it. I ask myself, if they can, why can’t I?
As humans, we’re naturally competitive. Society has taught us to become materialistic. Enough of that. Just be happy with what you got. It’s cliche, but it’s true. I think that’s why i’m not so into sneakers anymore. I thought I never would get to this point, but I am now. And I am totally happy with what is rather than what should.
That is all. I’ll just leave this here for myself later down the road. Oh and Go Lakers.
