Justin and Selena had been together for almost 3 years now and it seemed like everything was changing. When theyād first gotten together, it was like it was only them two that mattered. It stayed like that for quite sometime but now everything seemed to just be falling apart and no matter how hard they tried, it wouldnāt go back to the way it was.
The front door to our condo opens and in Justin walks, hoodie covering his head and he sets his bag down before looking at me standing near the sofa.
āYou said youād be home by 8.ā Selena reminds him, biting back tears
āI had to stay a little longer in the studio to finish the album. Donāt worry,today was my last day.ā He moved towards Selena and she snapped.
āThatās bullshit, Justin and you know it!ā Sheād never yelled this loud before and he was shocked. Justin stupidly made a move to walk towards her and she shoved him back, her anger getting the best of him. āDonāt you dare come near me, you asshole!ā
He heaved a sigh, running a hand through his hair. āSelena, baby-ā
āDonāt baby me either! Where the fuck were you?ā She yelled again. This time Justin rose his voice, tired of feeling small compared to her.
āI told you, I was at the fucking studio! Where else would I be?ā
He wasnāt lying. He was at the studio but there was acertain someone there that he knew Selena wouldnāt approve of him being around. Kendall and Hailey. She had absolutely no reason to be jealous considering Kendall was gay and Hailey was..Hailey. But she knew them. And they hated her with a passion. So lord knows what theyād do just to hurt her.
āWho were you with, Justin!ā Selena was only doing this because sheād rather be wrong at a time like this than be right about what everyone around her was telling her. She didnāt want to believe it.
āSelena, that doesnāt even matter! Just stop-ā
āWho were you with, goddamit!ā
Little did Justin know, he was confirming her thoughts by being silent. She nodded, biting her lip to keep from crying.
āI wasnāt with her in that way, Sel. I told her not to come but they did and I didnāt want to waste time arguing with her to leave, I just wanted to get out of there.ā So I could get home to you, he wanted to add, but he knew itād be no use.
āYou have people following you around every minute of the day, Justin, Iām not fucking stupid! Im so sick of the mind games, and the lying, please, just stop it!ā Selenaās voice cracked at the end and all Justin could do was watch her slowly break down in front of him, wondering where they had went wrong in their relationship.
She clutched his t-shirt that she was wearing as she cried, and he felt a tug at his heart. He wanted her to stop crying, she was too beautiful to cry.
Heād often ask himself during these fights, Why try? They fought over everything from who was driving to the store for groceries to who would pick what was on the television. It was all about power to them, whoever was louder clearly cared more in the relationship, is what they thought. But that wasnāt the case.
āIām no fucking lying, Selena! Everyday, I come home and you want to start with this bullshit! Why does it even matter who Iām with? It has nothing to do with you!ā His voice got louder as hers got softer.
She was taken back by his outburst. Heād never yelled at her like that before, nor had he been so harsh with his words to Selena. His Selena.
āMaybe if you werenāt always fucking around with the same people you know I donāt like, we wouldnāt be in this situation!ā
She was right. Anyone heād asked her to stay away from, she did because she had respect for him and their relationship. He couldnāt do the same?
āFor fucks sake, Selena, I was recording music! Music that I wouldnāt even be able to write if it wasnāt for you!ā
She wanted to smile as her heart skipped, hearing that she was his inspiration for the music but she couldnāt let him break her. Not right now.
However, she had nothing to say but the idea of arguing was satisfying to her. It meant heād cared and thatās all she wanted him to do. Care for her.
āYou know, a lot of people tell me that I shouldnāt even be with you. That Iām just wasting my time and youāre going to end up hurting me and that I should just get you before you get me.ā She clicked her tongue at the roof of her mouth.
Selena was definitely all talk and no substance because there was no way she believed those people. But she knew this would hurt him, and she wanted to hurt him the way heād hurt her when heād left her sitting at the resturant all night, last week, waiting for him for more than 3 hours. She wanted him to hurt for all those times heād hung out with those girls behind her back and made her look like a fool. And lastly, she wanted him to hurt for making her love him no matter what he did.
āYou donāt believe that,ā Justin said confidently, but she knew it was hurting him.
āMaybe theyāre right. All we do is fight now. Thereās nothing left of us Justin, face it!ā It even pained her to say it. āWhy do we even try?ā
She moved past him and into their bedroom, grabbing her bag and stuffing it with clothes. He followd her in, the sight feeling like a stab in the heart. āW-what are you doing?ā His voice was shaky as he tried to hold back tears but Selena Ā knew he was going to cry. She wanted him to cry.
āIām done trying.ā She stated simply, putting more clothes into the green duffel bag.
āY-you canāt just walk out on me, Sel.ā He wouldnāt allow her to. He moved towards her, reaching for the bag but she latched her fingers on and pulled back.
āLet go!ā She screamed at him.
He yelled back louder, āI wonāt let go, Sel. I canāt do it.ā He pulled back and she gave up, sending all her belongings flyng through the hair and the bag to the floor. Selena broke down in tears instantly, knees sinking into the matress as Justinās arms came to wrap around her. She foughthis touch, āDonāt touch me! Donāt touch me! Donāt! *gasp* Touch! *gasp* Me!ā She cried, punching against his chest.
āShh, itās okay. Weāre gonna be okay, baby.ā He rocked her back and forth like a baby as she sobbed in his arms.
āWhy, Justin, why?ā She cluched his shirt as she cried more. āWhy do we even try anymore?ā
āSelena, looke at me!ā Griiping her shoulders her shook her slightly and forced her to look at him. āDo you not see what is going on between us?ā
He was talking about the fact that they were treating each other as if they didnāt know or love each other. It was like someone just shoved an angel and a devil into a room together and locked the door, leaving the two to fight. Justin had guessed he was the devil because Selena was his angel. Heād never see her as anything less, even if it meant belittling himself.
āWe canāt keep doing this to each other.ā
A tear slipped out of his eyes as he held her face in his hands, watching her eyes gleam with a love only he could understand. She bit her lip, looking down, ashamed she had let such a small thing go this far. Their neighbors were probably pissed, as well.
āI donāt care about them, Sel. Those girls mean nothing to me, the music means nothing to me, nothing means anything if I canāt do it with the woman I love by my side.ā
His words had hit home for Sel, and she looked up at him, a smile almost forming on her pretty little face. āIf fighting is all we can do, thereās not point in trying anymore, Jay.ā
Instead of answering with words, he tilted her face towards his before pressing his lips to hers in a kiss that stopped her tears. He poured every ounce of his love for her into that kiss, thinking that if she couldnāt hear it she could feel it. And she did. Sheād brought her hands to his against her face and kissed back, wanting him to know just how much she loved him.
They didnāt stop until their clothes were gone and she laid up on him, draped across his naked chest, and his arm around her. She looked at the tattoo on his wrist of herself and felt her heart swell.
āThatās why we try, Selena. Because no matter how much we fight, nomatter what you say, youāre always gonna be my girl, my angel, and Iām always going to love you. Iām always going to act as if Iām going to be a better man, for you Selena. Everything I do will be for you. If itās what you want, Iāll try. But you have to try with me.ā He placed a kiss on her forehead before settling one on her lips too.
āI will, Justin. Iāll try.ā
