It’s important for parents to have open, honest conversations with their children about family health history, including mental health. You should know what risk factors you’re up against and the options and resources available to you. Parents should encourage good self-care and empower kids to still feel normal when facing the backlash of misunderstanding with stigma.

I did a thing

I was on the early morning bus today, and this idiot guy, probably around 18 or 19, was with his friend, and started taking photos of an obese woman and laughing. The woman, and everyone else on the bus, clearly knew he was making fun of her, but no one did anything. This is totally out of character for me because I’m usually pretty shy, but I got up, walked over to his seat, grabbed the phone from his hand, and deleted the photo. I just deleted it. And then I said, “you should be really disappointed in yourself,” and then I walked back to my seat. Two people applauded me, and the victim thanked me.

I’m proud of myself.

So surreal to see the @gymshark crew in person- also didn't realize how short Nikki was IRL until today 😂 @nikkiblackketter & @robingallantt are such awesome, genuine people who didn't care that I rambled on for 15 minutes about how much I love them, and hearing @benn.francis talk about how he built this company and what sets them apart was pretty awe inspiring. Yes that’s a chocolate chip pancake bigger than my head on the bottom 😍😍 Today I decided I’m not going to compete in next weekend’s show. While I’m itching to get on stage again, life kicked my ass (hey 40+ hour workweek, moving out of my apartment, two jobs with opposite hours & a commute to NYC 👋🏽) and I didn’t give prep my all the second time around. Even though I hate feeling like I “quit” or “gave up”, I hate half-assing things even more. So now it’s time to grow 💪🏽 #ALLthefood 🍕🍟🍔🍩🍪
