Jenna gritted her teeth, then said, “Yeah, well what kind of hardchaw are you to be telling me what to do anyway?”

“Hey, hey.” He protested, holding up his hands. “I’m not asking for anything from you.” This was so typical; the first person he came across for days was far too paranoid to trust him. “I just… haven’t talked to anyone in a long time.”

“I have supplies.” He admitted, hoping this wasn’t some kind of trick or anything. “You think I’d talk you into giving them up?”

She fumbled with the grip of her gun. So far her experiences with people other than those at the airport weren’t exactly pleasant ones, so really who could blame her for being so cautious, right? But still, she was hungry. But it would also be stupid to trust someone who be blatantly lying. But she was really hungry. Her mental debate came to a stop when she finally decided that at the end of the day, she had a gun and he had food, and from her point of view neither of them were in a good position. 

“What kind of supplies?”

He didn’t correct her, as he knew the girl had every right to be wary. You kind of had to be these days, or else you risked the chance of losing absolutely everything. He used the arm that wasn’t injured to cautiously reach for his gun just in case; although his didn’t raise it. “I swear, but I have a feeling this isn’t the best of places to talk.”

She narrowed her eyes, and adjusted her grip on her gun. “Oh, so what? You want to lead me to some abandoned alley or something? Make it easier to take me out? Don’t be such a chancer.”

“Look, boyo, if you want supplies or something then you’re out of luck because I’m dry.” It wasn’t a total lie, because she was out of food for sure. But she wasn’t going to let on how much water she had, or ammunition for that matter.

What do you think is your most admirable quality?

Well, what I would think is my most admirable quality, others would probably beg to differ. 

I’m known to be quite assertive, even though I’m criticized as bossy or ruthless. Either way, in a situation like this, you’re not going to get very far if you’re a pushover. I personally think it’s what makes me a survivor, so I won’t change for anyone.

As usual, Erik was just looking for someplace safe to stay the night. Not one evening had passed that he hadn’t gotten threatened at gun-point or almost eaten. His stomach nearly dropped from right out underneath him as he turned a corner and bumped straight into a young woman. Holding his hands out, he spoke, “I’m safe, don’t worry.”

“Yeah, heard that one before, buddy”, she replied, keeping her distance. 

Her gun remained upright and her body tensed. She couldn’t quite figure out if she would’ve preferred a zombie - zombies are carnal but human’s hold grudges - but even though at first glance the man seemed rather harmless, she wasn’t about to let her guard down.

It’d been a risk to lave the airport. She had supplies there, had set herself up on the highest floor next to the back-up generators. But food was still a problem, which was why she now creeping around city buildings, looking for anything that resembled food. She cautiously turned around a street corner, gun raised, praying that she wouldn’t meet anything dangerous.
