People seek forgiveness from other people because that forgiveness alleviates them from any wrongdoings and personal responsibility or accountability for their actions
I had someone call me this weekend with the gall to insert their opinion where it was unneeded, unsolicited and inappropriate, on whether or not I should be forgiving to a certain someone from my past. Telling me that I need to forgive and let go and do what’s in the best interest. Which loosely translated to, let them off the hook and cater to their feelings and make it easier for them to live guilt free without any responsibility for their actions.Naw.This person does not deserve my graciousness. For what they stole from me. My happiness, my youth. My loyalty, my trust, my dreams and my hopes. I am entitled to feel angry, bitter, vengeful and any other emotion that may flow through my body.I am not God. And I do not subscribe to Christian doctrine that says I have to forgive someone who has mistreated me and completely ignore my natural instinct to want to destroy them.Remember, forgiveness is for you and you alone. You have complete control over when, where, how, and who is deserving of your forgiveness. And understand that when you do finally choose to forgive it is because you have gone through the process of natural human emotions and have gotten to the point where you are OK.When it is time you will know. Until then let them choke on their own guilt. They deserve it.
