Taehyung worked at a café near his university, earning money there only to move out and buy better supplies for his hobby, painting. He'd loved painting since he was a child, and when he was in high school, he'd sometimes skip classes to do graffiti on the walls. Working and being a student didn't leave much time for painting, so as soon as he finishes his studies and will have the money he needed, he'd buy a house and start painting and selling his work. For now, he was far from his dream sum.
He currently had a job after classes at the university, so he headed there immediately after packing his things. A small door chime signaled his arrival as he entered, and there was his grumpy coworker, Yoongi. The older man was there almost every day; sometimes he worked night shifts, but Taehyung always saw him, which is why they were close.
"Hi, Tae," Yoongi muttered, preparing coffee for a customer at the counter.
"Good morning, hyung!" Taehyung nodded slightly in greeting, going behind the counter to the back room to get his apron and put down his backpack. He walked to his shelf and grabbed his pink and white apron after putting down his backpack and exited the back room, stopping next to Yoongi.
"Were there a lot of customers while I was gone?" the younger man asked, running a hand through his hair to keep it out of his eyes.
Yoongi shook his head. "No." His voice was monotone; Taehyung was used to that.
"Mmm..." he hummed, sighing. "Right..."
Suddenly, the door chime rang as another customer entered. It was a young man with piercings in his eyebrow and lip.
"Hello, welcome to Bom Coffee." The boy simply nodded at Taehyung's words and approached the counter.
"A large matcha latte, please."
Taehyung nodded. "Okay, please take a seat." He turned and began preparing his latte at the machines.
The boy took a seat by the window. He recognized Taehyung; he went to college with him, but they attended different majors, unfortunately. He saw him sometimes in the hallways, but they never spoke. He had tried so many times to strike up a conversation, to stop him, to ask for his number, but he was shy... He liked him.
When the latte was ready, Taehyung approached his table and handed it to him. "Your matcha is ready, enjoy." He smiled faintly, walking away, but before he could, the boy stopped him.
"Wait... I'm Jungkook, I go to college with you."
Taehyung paused, turning to face him. He squinted a bit, trying to remember his face. True, he'd seen him a few times passing through the hall, but he'd never spoken to him.
"Taehyung." He gave him a quick smile and returned to the counter.
Jungkook scrolled through his phone while drinking his matcha, but he couldn't help but glance out of the corner of his eye at Taehyung, who was serving other customers at the counter. He texted his friend, his fingers quickly wandering across the screen as he typed.
"Jimin hyung... I'm at the coffee shop right now, but that cute guy from my studies I told you about works here."
Jimin got a notification while playing a game. He pressed escape, pausing it, and picked up his phone, reading Jungkook's message.
"So what about that? Did you talk to him or give him your number?"
"No..."
"So what are you waiting for? Give him your number and ask if he'd like to go out with you sometime." Jimin sent the message, knowing Jungkook was shy about such things, especially after his last failed date.
"Okay, hyung. Maybe I'll do it." Jungkook teased him.
"Ya, you better." Then he put his phone away, returning to his game. He hoped the younger boy would do it; Jungkook talked about the guy a lot and was seriously in love.
Jungkook sighed, finishing his matcha, and took out a slip of paper, writing his phone number on it. He walked up to the counter, holding the money to pay and the note.
"Uh... Excuse me." He called out to Taehyung. Yoongi glanced at the boy at the counter, but noticed he wasn't looking at him, but at Taehyung.
"Tae, someone's calling you." Yoongi called Taehyung that was currently in the the back room. Taehyung heard him and quickly walked out, straightening his apron.
"Yeah- oh." He blinked a few times before approaching Jungkook. "Yeah? What did you want?"
"To pay for the matcha..." He handed over the money, which had the note with his number on it. Taehyung took the money, noticing something on top. He was about to call Jungkook back to say he'd left something, but he quickly left.
"Goodbye." Those were Jungkook's only words as he left the cafe.
Yoongi raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly. "Ooh, he likes you," he teased him.
"Yeah right... He probably left it by accident; there's no way he likes me." Taehyung snorted, making yoongi groan in annoyance.
"Whatever you say."
Going home late after work, Taehyung couldn't stop thinking about that number and what Yoongi had said. Had he left it there on purpose or had he forgotten about it? He couldn't help but pull the small piece of paper with the number written on it out of his pocket and call it.
Jungkook was scrolling through Instagram before someone called him, an unknown number. He assumed it was Taehyung.
"Hello? Is that you, Taehyung?" he asked.
Taehyung paused; it really was Jungkook. "Uh... Yes, it's me. I just wanted to ask if you accidentally gave me your number or if you meant to."
Jungkook chuckled, embarrassed. "I meant to... Is it okay or do you not want to talk to me?"
"No, that's not it, I was just curious." Taehyung spoke, crossing the street to reach his small apartment.
"Ah! Right, sorry, I could have given you my number in person instead of leaving a note on the money."
A few days later, Taehyung was receiving love notes at the coffee shop during his shifts. Yoongi guessed it might be Jungkook, but he didn't say anything to the boy because he would say it couldn't be him anyway. Jungkook and Taehyung began to become closer. After work, the older boy would go to the park with him or just walk around the city, and on his days off, he would come to Jungkook's house, or Jungkook would come to his. He found out he had a dog, his name was Bam, and he was a Doberman. He liked him immediately. Taehyung loved dogs; they were his favorite animal, right after bears and tigers.
Those love notes were actually sent by Jungkook. Every time he came to the cafe when Yoongi was on shift with Taehyung, he could see from Yoongi's expression that he knew it was him who sent them.
The first time Jungkook tried to be bold, he accidentally knocked over a display of organic syrups, sending a sticky cascade of madagascar vanilla across Taehyung’s shoes. It wasn’t a romantic movie moment, it was a clumsy disaster that left Taehyung scrubbing the floor with a rag and Jungkook apologizing. One tuesday, while Yoongi was staring at the clock and praying for his shift to end, Jungkook walked in not with a note, but with a request.
"Taehyung hyung, I have a ticket to the modern art gallery!" Jungkook said, leaning over the counter. He just looked at him, his eyes hopeful.
Taehyung paused, his hand hovering over the steamer. "I'm working, Jungkook—"
"I'll wait right here until your shift ends."
Yoongi sighed. "Just go on the date, Tae. For the love of god, just go so he stops hovering over my register."
Taehyung laughed. "Fine. Pick me up at six."
"Okay! Sure!" With that, Jungkook left the cafe.
The date went great, except that it rained and they both came home soaking wet.
"Hey hyung, you can stay here tonight if you want. I don't have anything to do anyway. We can have a drink and watch movies."
Taehyung considered this suggestion. It was raining, which would only make him come home even wetter and tired since it was already late.
"Okay, I can stay," he replied, sitting on the couch in the living room.
Jungkook began preparing the alcohol, pouring the wine into glasses and setting them on the coffee table.
Taehyung leaned back into the couch cushions.
"Cheers to not getting caught in that downpour again." Jungkook said, raising his glass, his fingers brushed against Taehyung’s.
They drank.
The wine went down well at first, and the conversation continued long and pleasantly. Jungkook had already filled their glasses twice before they both lost count. Taehyung's cheeks were slightly red from the amount of alcohol.
"This shirt is getting uncomfortable," he muttered.
"Then take it off, I'll get you another one later."
Jungkook's gaze was on his exposed torso before he looked away and poured the last drops of wine into his glasses. Taehyung moved closer to him, their thighs touching, and Jungkook's hand was on his knee.
"You look good like this, you know, hyung?" Jungkook muttered, his voice low. His fingers traced upward along Taehyung's inner thigh. Taehyung turned his head, meeting Jungkook's eyes.
Without a word, Jungkook leaned in and kissed him deeply. Taehyung only opened his mouth slightly, and he slid his tongue inside. His hand, which was on his knee, moved higher before palming Taehyung's growing bulge through the fabric. He squeezed it lightly, feeling his cock twitch.
Taehyung let out a low groan to the kiss and grabbed the hem of Jungkook's shirt and pulled it up, breaking the kiss just to remove it. Jungkook, seeing the perfect moment, got on top of him and straddled the older boy's hips, grinding their cocks together through their pants. They both let out low moans. Taehyung lowered his head to the younger boy's neck, leaving marks.
"Ngh... Hyung..." Jungkook moaned, tilting his head to the side, giving him better access to his neck.
"Shh... You're doing so great, baby..." Taehyung mumbled against his neck, continuing to kiss his neck, eventually moving lower.
After a few minutes, they were both naked. Taehyung was on top of Jungkook, spitting on his fingers, using his saliva as lubricant. He slowly began to insert two fingers, scissoring them inside to loosen his hole, drawing moans from him.
"A-ah... Hyung..." Jungkook moaned, his hands landing on Taehyung's shoulders, his fingers digging in lightly. "F-fuck..."
"Relax, sweetheart..." Taehyung slowly began thrusting his fingers into his hole, grabbing his cock and stroking it at the same time as he loosened his tight hole. Jungkook began moaning uncontrollably, bucking his hips upward slightly as the older boy ran his thumb over his tip, spreading the precum. He knew he was close when his hole squeezed his fingers.
"Come on, you're doing so good, love. Cum in my hands," Taehyung said, speeding up his hand.
"Nghh... Hyung, please..." Jungkook squeezed his eyes shut, and after a moment, he came. His cum dripped onto Taehyung's hand.
The next day, Taehyung woke up first. Jungkook was next to him on the couch... naked. He didn't remember much of what had happened, but from their state, he knew they were doing something... He sighed, reaching for his clothes, getting dressed. He fixed his hair to look presentable.
"Jungkook..." He hestitated. "Jungkook, baby... wake up." He gently woke him up.
"Mmm..." Jungkook only let out a low hum as he opened his eyes. He immediately felt a pain in his thighs.
A few months had passed, Jungkook and Taehyung got together. Taehyung had found out he was the one sending him those love notes. Yoongi, of course, was supportive, even sometimes making free coffee for Jungkook when he came to visit Taehyung. They had become good friends.

Yoongi's house was quiet, except for the faint sound of the TV being on. Yoongi was sitting close to Hoseok, even though he seemed more distant. He wasn't as energetic as usual, which worried him a bit, but he hadn't commented on it since the younger man had arrived. When Yoongi finished talking about how he'd lost the game he'd been playing with Jin, he noticed that Hoseok wasn't really listening and seemed lost in his own thoughts. The older boy leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before saying, "Hobi? Are you listening?"
Hoseok quickly snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Yoongi. "Yes..." His tone was unusually low and indifferent; Yoongi rarely heard it unless Hoseok was in a bad mood or something happened. Yoongi raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Are you sure? You know you can always talk to me about it if something bothers you," Yoongi replied, leaning in to kiss him, but Hoseok pulled away, which surprised him a bit.
"Yoongi... We need to talk," Hoseok said, turning his full attention to the older boy. He sighed before continuing. "I want to break up with you. I know it's a bit weird coming so suddenly after three years, but I've realized that I don't feel the same way about you anymore. I don't want to hurt you and pretend I still love you by staying in a relationship with you, that's why I'm telling you this." Hoseok got up from the couch, straightening his clothes. "I hope you understand." With that, he headed for the door and left, leaving Yoongi alone on the couch, not letting him say anything.
Yoongi sat still, his mind processing what had just happened. He'd expected anything but this. As he processed it all, he lifted his head toward the door through which Hoseok had exited. His breathing became shallow, and his hands began to shake a little. Hoseok left just like that, not letting him process this before he left. Three years had been wasted; he didn't know what to do now. He reached for his phone, his hand shaking, and punched in Jin's number. He called him. After a few seconds, he heard, "Hello?"
"Hyung... Can you... Can you come over...?" Yoongi mumbled, his voice shaking slightly, sounding like he was about to cry. Jin, hearing his tone, immediately knew something was wrong, as he'd rarely heard such a shaky tone from Yoongi in all the years they'd known each other.
"Did something happen? I'm on my way," Jin replied. Yoongi could hear shuffling on the other end of the phone, knowing Jin was in a hurry to get here.
After 10 minutes, Jin arrived at the place, not even knocking on the door before entering. The first thing he saw was Yoongi curled up on the couch. His eyes were slightly red; Jin guessed he'd been crying. He quickly walked over to the couch, sitting down next to Yoongi.
"What happened? Do you want to talk about it?" The older man said, grabbing the younger's hands and squeezing them.
"Hoseok broke up with me..." Yoongi managed to mutter it quietly. Jin's eyebrows furrowed a bit before he hugged him.
"What? Why... That bastard."
"He lost his feelings and didn't want to hurt me by staying in a relationship..." Yoongi continued, burying his face in Jin's shoulder, sobbing.
Jin hugged him tighter, feeling his tears soaking his shirt, but he didn't care. What he did care about was making Yoongi feel better.
"Hey, relax... he chose to leave, but that doesn't define your worth. Hoseok did the right thing by telling you right away to avoid your suffering, but you have the right to be angry with him because he left without letting you say anything. Trust me, it wasn't your fault, everything will be alright." Jin spoke in a calm and gentle tone, letting Yoongi cry. His hand was on his back, gently caressing it in a soothing motion.
Yoongi slowly calmed down as Jin comforted him, until after a few minutes, he pulled away and wiped his tears.
"Thank you, hyung... I don't know what I would do without you."
A few days passed, Yoongi rarely left the house because he had no strength and didn't sleep much. Always who was by his side was Jin and Namjoon, of course the rest also came and visited him, trying to comfort him, but Hoseok didn't come. He didn't post or write anything in their group at all, only reading the messages they sent. Taehyung said he replied to his message, but very curtly, as if he wasn't interested in talking at all. They didn't know what was going on with him; he was ghosting them.
Yoongi finally found the strength to go out for coffee at a café with Namjoon and Jin. Of course, they had to force him because he kept saying no.
"Hyung... are you feeling better?" Namjoon asked, taking a sip of his Iced Macchiato.
"Yeah..." Yoongi mumbled, looking at his untouched Iced Americano in front of him. his tone was monotonous. "Much better."
They could hear in his tone and expression that he wasn't, and that he was lying, not even trying to hide it. Namjoon sighed.
"Hyung... You really can't stay home all the time, drowning in your thoughts. It's not your fault Hoseok hyung broke up with you," Namjoon said, then Jin let out a "Hmm" as he drank and spoke up as he put down his coffee.
"Well, I agree with Namjoon. You can't be sad about it all the time. You have to try to move on. You know we'll be with you the whole time and help you."
"Exactly! Jin hyung is right, Yoongi hyung. You can always count on us. Now let's go, grab your Iced Americano and let's go wandering around town or park." Namjoon stood up, finishing his Iced Macchiato and throwing the empty cup in the trash. Jin did the same before grabbing Yoongi's hand, pulling him up to stand.
The corners of Yoongi's mouth twitched slightly, a small smile that Jin noticed.
As they walked, Yoongi finally finished his coffee and tossed the empty cup into the trash. He didn't say much the entire time they were walking through the park, but he was attentive. He saw how Namjoon sometimes grabbed Jin's hand, intertwining fingers with his, but he didn't say anything, even though he suspected they liked each other.
"Hey, what if we go to Jin's hyung house and watch something?" Namjoon suggested.
Yoongi didn't really want to because he was already tired from endlessly walking through the park.
"Sorry, but I think I'll be heading back... I'm tired," Yoongi mumbled.
"Ah! Right, right! Sure, go get some rest," Jin replied instead of Namjoon, lightly kicking him in the foot to shut him up. He knew Namjoon would soon try to convince Yoongi to go with them, but Jin preferred Yoongi to finally get some rest. He knew how tired he was since Hoseok broke up with him.
"Yeah... Bye guys. Have fun."
After getting home, Yoongi immediately flopped onto his bed, burying his face in his pillow. He sighed heavily before lifting his head slightly and checking his phone. There were messages from the group, but he didn't feel like reaching for it. He sat up, running a hand through his hair, and went to wash up.
Despite all these days, Yoongi still couldn't stop thinking about Hoseok. He kept wondering if he had done something, if it was his fault he broke up with him. Hoseok still hadn't write anything in the group, and he was always the first to do so, but after the breakup, it seemed like he was ghosting everyone. Maybe he didn't want anything to do with them until he himself had recovered from the breakup? He probably also felt bad about breaking up with Yoongi so suddenly after all these years, without even letting him say anything.
But as he emerged from the bathroom, his hair still damp, a message on his phone caught his eye. Jungkook had texted him that he'd seen Jimin with Hoseok eating ice cream today, and Hoseok looked... happy. Despite the fact that his smile didn't reach his eyes, he quickly reached for his phone, his hand shaking slightly.
"Are you sure? Was it really Hoseok and not someone else?" Yoongi wrote.
"Hyung... I can recognize my closest friend from some random guy... I'm 100% positive it was Hobi hyung." Jungkook replied less than two minutes later.
Yoongi stared at the message. Had Hoseok broken up with him for Jimin? Was Hoseok in love with Jimin? He couldn't help but overthink. Why was Hoseok only going out with Jimin and not the others? He knew they were close, even when they were in a relationship, but to ignore everyone in the group and not text them, only Jimin, was weird. Yoongi put his phone away, put on his pajamas, and lay down on the bed. He left Jungkook on seen, which made him worry.
"Hyung? Hello?" Jungkook started texting him, waiting for a reply, but he never got one. He figured Yoongi just wanted to be alone for now, so he finally stopped spamming him with messages.
A whole month had passed since Hoseok broke up with Yoongi. It was April 11th. Yoongi had been in a worse state ever since Jungkook and the others told him they'd sometimes seen Hoseok with other people, especially Jimin, who seemed happier than he had with Yoongi in the last few months before the breakup. Sure, Yoongi would sometimes go out for coffee, but his happiness felt particularly artificial and forced. Namjoon and Jin had announced they were together in the group a few days ago; the only message Hoseok finally sent was "Congrats, happy for you," and that was it. Since then, he's been reading messages again, not writing anything. Jimin also seemed distant from everyone except Hoseok and Taehyung. Jin and Namjoon continued to help Yoongi pull himself together, so he could finally stop overthinking and drinking heavily when his thoughts began to run wild. His room was a complete mess. Clothes were scattered everywhere, not even organized. His desk was the only place that wasn't so messy, because that's where he wrote his lyrics, sometimes expressing his thoughts and feelings.
One day, he decided to clean his room late at night. He started by throwing away the trash, then started cleaning the desk and putting things and books back in their places. He left the clothes for last because it was too much work. He found a few pens and a book he'd been looking for but couldn't find because of all the mess he had.
He put the vinyl of an artist he liked back on the shelf; it was the last thing he needed to put away. He took a step back, admiring his work. But he still had clothes left... He sighed, starting to fold them, setting some aside to throw away because he either didn't like them or simply wouldn't wear them anymore.
As he folded the clothes, he kept thinking about Hoseok. He couldn't let go, he couldn't move on. Suddenly, he came across an unfamiliar hoodie. He unfolded it and remembered... It belonged to Hoseok. It still smelled like him. Without hesitation or thought, he put it on; it made him feel like Hoseok was still here with him, close to him. He looked at his hands, which were next to his hoodie pockets. Memories began to flood his mind. When it was cold, Yoongi sometimes put his hands in that hoodie pocket when Hoseok wore it and was close to him. A few tears fell down his cheeks, but he quickly wiped them away as he stood up. He walked to his desk, reaching for his phone and lighter before leaving his room, heading downstairs, and leaving the house.
It was dark, the only light coming from the street lamps, which had already ended when Yoongi stepped onto the abandoned tracks. He walked to a small, abandoned wooden house where he and the group used to go and play. As he walked, he took out his phone and clicked on a chat with Jin.
"Thank you," Yoongi wrote before sending and putting his phone away, switching to do-not-disturb mode.
Jin received the message while he was at home with Namjoon watching a movie, but his heart sank when he received that short message from Yoongi. The "thank you" was so random and unexpected. Jin immediately knew something was wrong.
"Joon... We have to go to Yoongi's, something seems wrong." He said with a slightly shaky tone and got up from the couch, taking Namjoon's hand. He didn't know what could have happened, or what was going to happen, so his pace was fast. He tried texting and calling him, but Yoongi neither saw the messages nor answered, so he started to panic and started running with Namjoon. Namjoon himself started to worry.
Yoongi arrived, opened the door, and went inside. It was dark, but he didn't take out his phone to turn on the flashlight; he simply stood there and took the lighter from his pocket.
Jin and Namjoon found themselves in front of Yoongi's house. They went inside.
"Yoongi! Where the hell are you!" Jin yelled anxiously, searching the house for him.
"Have you seen him anywhere? Maybe he's hiding," Namjoon said, coming back to the hallway. He searched the entire bottom floor, and Jin searched the top floor. He was nowhere to be found.
"No... fuck..." Jin muttered.
"Do you have any idea where he might be...?"
Jin thought for a moment, recalling conversations with Yoongi. He never mentioned any specific places... But he had one place in mind where he might be. He wasn't sure if he really was there, but he preferred to hurry.
Meanwhile, Yoongi went to the bedroom in the abandoned house, holding a can of gasoline. He poured it everywhere, including this room. He tossed the empty can aside and took the lighter from his pocket, wiping it with his sleeve.
Jin and Namjoon ran as fast as they could, running across the tracks toward the abandoned house. Even though their legs ached and they were panting, they didn't stop.
Yoongi flicked on the lighter, throwing it into the puddle of gasoline on the floor. Everything around him ignited, and he stood motionless in the middle of the room.
They finally arrived. But too late. The entire house was engulfed in flames, and Yoongi was nowhere to be seen.
"No... Don't tell me that..." Jin whispered in a shaky tone. "Yoongi!" he screamed, trying to get inside, but Namjoon grabbed his hand. "Joon... Please... let go..." His voice cracked before he began to cry. Namjoon pulled him closer, wrapping his arms around him, hugging him tightly, and even his own tears began to fall.
Everything was silent, except for the crackling of the fire and Jin's sobbing. He began to blame himself for failing to help Yoongi, for not being there all the time. If he had managed to help him move on, this wouldn't have happened. Namjoon tried to calm him down, but he was crying himself.
A day later, Jin sat on his bed, staring at the wall, unmoving, even though it was late. They didn't tell anyone what had happened. Not yet, though. He had a knife in his hands, and finally, he tore his gaze from the wall to the knife and closed his eyes, stabbing himself in the stomach, trying to kill himself.
But he woke up on a bench with his phone in his hands. He glanced at it, seeing the date: April 11th.
