The question remains: what makes a man risk his life to travel to the world's most inhospitable corners only to stand alone, sometimes for days, on the banks of a muddy river in the hopes of meeting -- but never eating -- a fish? "It's all about the context," he says. "If you achieve something in hardship it means a lot more than something that's handed to you on a plate. Catching a large fish in easy circumstances is nothing like as memorable as going to some far-flung corner of the world and nearly dying in the process. As a journalist, it's good material." It's this macho fish-or-die approach to life -- and filmmaking-- coupled with his authentically weathered man-face that has turned Jeremy into the poster-boy of the fishing world. Indeed, 40% of of the 75 million people who have watched his show are women. He's in very high demand... and not just for his fishing tackle. I once had a letter from a lesbian couple in the U.S. asking if I'd father their child," he says. "It's a bit weird, but next to the hideaous-looking creatures I'm normally with, I suppose anyone would look good.
