The thing is that Sam/Ruby is such a beautiful example of a toxic, abusive relationship but it gets ignored because of the "demon blood"

She manipulates him the entire time. She isolates him from his friends and family and makes him dependent on her. Then she reinforces the isolation every time he starts moving away from her by saying all these horrible things to him about how if he lets himself be controlled by someone (Dean) he's weak for doing so and that only by staying with her can he make himself strong and all the while she is undermining him.

If we focused less on the "drug addict" aspect of Sam's S4 storyline and more on the "he was the victim of domestic abuse" I think more people would be sympathetic to that arc.

(That being said, Sam absolutely killed human people in his pursuit of his blood addiction and he should have to take responsibility for those actions even though he was manipulated into starting down that path)

I agree with all of this but will add that Sam took responsibility and jumped in the cage for his sins. He also did it to try and save more people and they all killed possessed humans by using the demon blade & angel blades. At least Sam owned that fact and tried to save people by exorcising them in later seasons.

Literally just some dude hanging out. Never bothered anyone but worms. Big fan of the way you just stand there in the middle of the grass like you forgot what you were supposed to be doing.

I read this to my dad who sits on his porch and watches the birds and his only note is that he has seen multiple male cardinals attempt to fight their reflections to the death and should have a higher rating.

I could call “and he was cute” a writing mistake since this is dean’s retelling of john’s retelling of these events, but it’s funnier to think of it being part of john’s Meeting Mary talk track. and she thought I was cute. it’s also of course dean shaping the narrative, his favorite thing to do.
