When I was in high school I made mixtapes using 60 minute cassettes. I got a little creative with them, overlapping the odd acapella track with an instrumental, crafting up loose themes for the playlists and even designing cover art in Microsoft Paint. The process was primitive and the results weren't perfect but the finished project always brought me a tremendous amount of joy.
For years now I've wanted to get back into making mixtapes but in a way that captures the same energy that they had back in high school. This weekend I put some thought into how I can do that.
I've setup a mailing list, sign up and you'll get notified when a mixtape drops. They mixes will be delivered as a temporary download, no streams, no subscriptions, no SoundCloud, no iTunes. My aim is to send one out every few months to a small group of people.
I got some ideas for the first mix, planning to share it by the end of the month. Looking forward to it. Thanks for listening.
