Assignment 3 Class experiment
underpaintings from textures
Erasure experiment
Unsure how far I should go with this- where should I stop?
failure - a perfect circle
I attempted to draw a perfect circle using pen and paper by experimenting with different methods:
1. The first one is drawing it normally using my dominant hand 2. Using my non-dominant hand 3. Holding the pen using my mouth 4. Holding the pen awkwardly as if I’m squeezing it in my palm 5. Closing my eyes 6. Holding the pen using only my middle and index finger
Conclusion: As you can see, the best result was accomplished using the 5th method, however it is not a perfect circle. Hence, I have failed.
Experiment:
I normally use a plastic lid for mixing paint. By chance, the left over paint dried up in a way that produced interesting patterns (top picture). I then experimented in Photoshop using the paint bucket tool, selection tool and the paint brush to create an image. I then cropped the plastic lid and it remained with an explosion of colour and digitized paint.
In this experiment, I used repetition of the same image with manipulation of the opacity of the images to challenge how someone perceives and read an image. Through copy and pasting images on top of each other and moving them slightly to the left and decreasing their opacity, I was able to create images that challenge how you read and visual images. I wanted to create something that the audience has to look at for a long period of time and ‘work out’. I think through it being unclear to an extent I have accomplished this as you must look in more detail to uncover the image
