more fob tattoo ideas since that’s the only thing my brain seems to be able to make rn art wise
something about the lyrics “i’m good to go / but i’m going nowhere fast / could be worse i could be taking you there with me” being on fob’s very first album and the lyrics “i don’t know where you’re going / but do you got room for one more troubled soul?” being on their first album post hiatus just drives me absolutely insane in every possible way, no matter what angle i view it in

25 day fall out boy challenge ↳ Day 10: song that you relate to the most
Oh, we’re fading fast I miss missing you now and then
Stuck in the jet wash, a bad trip I couldn’t get off. Maybe I bit off more than I could chew, overhead of the aqua blue. Fall to your knees bring on the rapture, blessed be the boys time can’t capture, on film or between the sheets, I always fall from your window to the pitch black street. And with the black banners raised, as the crooked smiles fade, former heroes who quit too late, who just wanna fill up the trophy case again. And in the end, I’d do it all again, I think you’re my best friend- Don’t you know that the kids aren’t al-, kids aren’t alright?I’m yours, when it rains it pours, stay thirsty like before. Don’t you know that the kids aren’t al-, kids aren’t alright? I’m not passive but aggressive, take note, it’s not impressive. Empty your sadness like you’re dumping your purse on my bedroom floor. We put your curse in reverse, and it’s our time now if you want it to be, maul the world like the carnival bear set free and your love is anemic and I can’t believe that you couldn’t see it coming from me, and I still feel that rush in my veins, it twists my head just a bit to think all those people in those old photographs I’ve seen are dead. And in the end, I’d do it all again, I think you’re my best friend. Don’t you know that the kids aren’t al-, kids aren’t alright? I’m yours, when it rains it pours, stay thirsty like before. Don’t you know that the kids aren’t al-, kids aren’t alright? Sometimes I just want to sit around and gaze at my shoes, yeah, and let your dirty sadness fill me up just like a balloon. And in the end, I’d do it all again, I think you’re my best friend. Don’t you know that the kids aren’t al-, kids aren’t alright? I’ll be yours, when it rains it pours, stay thirsty like before. Don’t you know that the kids aren’t al-, kids aren’t alright?

apparently i still need to hold peoples hands through this so if you just dont like rap or hip hop or dancehall i am begging you to just fucking ask why. why is it that even if its one verse on a song you otherwise love it ruins the whole song. why is it that when an artist you like borrows from or works with any other genre youre okay with it but not when its rap or hip hop. be honest with yourself and look at your music taste and ask yourself what the music you dont like has in common and why they might have that in common.
maybe you dont care about fall out boy featuring a black artist specifically, but why is it that these genres which are dominated by black artists are the ones you dislike. what is it about them that you dont like. dont "i dont know i just dont like them" me, i want you to look at your music taste and really sit with yourself and think about why you like what you like and dont like what you dont like.
because everyone, not just nonblack people, EVERYONE is bombarded with the idea that black art is inferior. that blackness in general is inferior. i have heard people say that they just think rap and hip hop isnt as deep as pop punk, and its really fucking transparent when you have shit like this is america by childish gambino, same drugs by chance the rapper, humble by kendrick lamar, take it back by logic, and you really really expect me to believe that vague lyrical gesturing at the concept of depression is somehow inherently superior to that.
you are hiding behind the fact that in theory, a genre can simply not be to your taste, so as to ignore the fact that in practice, against your will, you have been taught that black people are unsophisticated and shallow, and it influences every fucking thing you do. either admit that, or stop listening to fall out boy, because pete wentz isnt "one of the good ones", hes black, and youve just been ignoring it. fuck you.
news for the baby fob fans: bitches HATED infinity on high when it came out lmao
why is... a rapper... producing our emo band?
I WAS BITCHES!!! in 2007, there were many fans that hated the (now largely lauded) change in musical direction. can you imagine lol that so many people hated that album on first listen? due to...unconscious bias?
even as a nonwhite person, I have had to go through this thought process. it's okay to re-examine where your biases originate from. in fact, i would argue, it is absolutely imperative; if everyone keeps trying to be and do better, we might just be okay.
