their sleepless nights hadn’t reached the point of over exhaustion, so rory hadn’t needed to do much other than maybe eat an edible here and there so far, or maybe they just hadn’t considered the possibility of switching weed for any type of tea… especially since tea usually tasted like fresh grass or something, and they couldn’t understand how people actually liked the thing, but hey–none of her business. the point was that up until now, rory hadn’t felt the need to act upon this, because it felt like it was just something that happened to everyone in her line of work. that will all the parties and the drugs and the chaos that came with showbiz.
“i’ll keep it in mind, jezzybells.” rory winked at the blonde, using the childhood nickname that had never been forgotten by the older witch. “but it’s nothing i can’t handle. just some poorly slept nights, you know? working overtime and all.” not that she worked with that many a-list celebrities, but the ones that did give her a shot, didn’t usually wait for a lightning bolt of inspiration to hit her. these people had schedules and deadlines line no one else she’d seen before. and, despite knowing that it might not be just some poorly slept nights, rory figured she could handle by herself. in case she was wrong, then, sure… she’d go for jez for help. it sure didn’t make anything easy that this town was crawling with powerful witches harboring the same last name as rory, who probably would love to make life more difficult for her.
hearing jez talk about evelyn bolton reminded rory of her own mother and just how much she missed the woman. considering the fact that ror needed to be in la some time in the upcoming month, she would definitely enjoy her time with her mother. not to mention, their little yearly ritual of attending to pride in san francisco, too. “honestly, in this town? who doesn’t have a bunch of kids running around? it’s like they didn’t have tv back in the 80′s or something.” she teased. “but nah, not looking to hex anyone. i just needed someone to help me maneuver through some things, you know? and i didn’t want to have to resort to anyone from our family, so, might as well talk to my best friend’s mom, i guess.” again, she chuckled. “where are we going for lunch? have you picked the place?”
Jez couldn’t deny she understood the late night things. For most of her life she had late nights, when she was younger mostly because she was looking out for her family- or rather her siblings. Being the closest thing to an actual parent that her siblings had often meant nights where Jez herself didn’t sleep very well. Some part of her always felt like if she slept too much, if she let her guard down for too long the darkest parts of her family would creep in and corrupt them. And while she was all too aware that they may decide on their own to go down the same path as their parents she wanted that to be their choice. She didn’t have to necessarily agree with what they had decided in their lives. She just didn’t want the choice to be made because of manipulation from their parents or their aunt. She wanted it to be their decision and their decision alone.
“Oh, late nights are pretty common for me. I get that. Between work and trying to find time to see Tony at all with our varied schedules can be a pain in the ass.” Most of the time Jez was either asleep or half asleep by the time Tony got home from work. But at the same time she often would stay up long enough where she would be able to see him for a few moments before she finally went to bed. It was a little inconvenient, of course, that the two of them had such different schedules. It absolutely didn’t make their relationship easy or anything of the like. But she wasn’t about to change anything either. Sometimes loving someone meant you make compromises; sometimes it meant you had to accept the things that were less than ideal. And she knew that Tony had been lucky to get the job he had given his record. So she wasn’t about to have an issue with the reality of their situation. She would just do whatever she could to give them time together.
Jez snorted slightly in amusement at the fact that so many of the families in town had a lot of kids. It wasn’t exactly a lie. Between her family, the Boltons and the Dawsons it was like the town had personally decided to repopulate the state. And then there was Cassidy who had given the next generation a huge start, had basically hit the ground running with that, a couple of the Dawsons also having a kid as well. Who knew how many kids the new generation in that town would end up having? “I’m not sure if I should be offended at the idea of you not wanting to ask anyone in our family,” Jez teased, glancing over at her cousin with a raise eyebrow though she wasn’t actually offended in the slightest. She could absolutely understand it. Their family wasn’t exactly known for helping people out as a kindness. Not even members of their own family. “Evelyn is a good person to go to. You couldn’t ask for someone more caring when it comes to guiding you through things. I wouldn’t know half of what I know about magic if it wasn’t for her.” Of course, it was all the lighter magic she got from the woman in question and absolutely none of the dark kind. The dark kind was strictly a Dragoumis lesson. “I am just about the least picky you’ll ever meet. So, up to you. Cassidy might actually be working at the diner today if you want to head over there. Can’t ever miss with the barbecue place either.”
