Home Away From Home || Lilah & Rory

Rory followed Lilah inside, to the all too familiar apartment. Which brought with it a sense of safety, like a second home to Rory since Lilah had moved to Maui. “Thanks.” Rory said softly, forcing a brief, weak smile and she leaned back onto the couch. Her leg twitched nervously, as she sat there taping her fingers against her mug of tea. She tried to think of what to say - how to explain how everything crumbled so quickly. But she wasn’t even sure anymore, it was all just a tragic blur in her mind. Almost as if she’d tried to black it out, forget the entire thing happened. Which she so often did. “I-I don’t even know. Parker and I had a fight, a few days ago.” She explained, careful as to how she worded things, just to be sure she didn’t spill about Parker’s using again. Which, she hated to keep from Lilah. But the way Rory saw it, it wasn’t her secret to tell. No matter how mad she was at Parker. “He was yelling and I just- I don’t know. I freaked out and I left.” She sighed, letting her head fall into the palm of her free hand.. “I haven’t really talked to him since, but I don’t think he wants me to come home.” Rory added, quickly turning her head toward the window as she felt tears building up behind her eyes. “He hates me, Lilah. He’s never going to talk to me again.” She said weakly, her voice beginning to crack.
Lilah’s brow furrowed as she spoke of her fight with Parker. The distress on Rory’s face made Lilah’s chest ache for her friend. Her hands clenched around her mug when Rory had explained that she and Parker had gotten into a fight. About what? Please don’t let it be about well, that. Please not about that, she thought. She knew that nothing else besides using would make Parker so angry. But she couldn’t stomach the thought. “Come here, Ror, god,” Lilah said, sliding closer to Rory to hug her tightly. “I won’t make you talk about your fight but if you want to...or need to...you can, you know that? Parker’s a fucking dick head,” Lilah grumbled, running a comforting hand down Rory’s back.
“Don’t say that, I’m sure he’s fucked up about this now too. But days ago? As in plural? Why didn’t you just come straight here?” Lilah asked with a frown. “You always have a place here, okay? You’re the only one who gets that privilege, you gotta take advantage of that, babes,” Lilah said, smiling ever so slightly. “He’ll talk to you again. He’s probably embarrassed because I’m sure whatever you fought about he was wrong. Actually, maybe not. I might knock all of his fucking teeth out first before he can,” she said, half joking. “You have a right to live at your place as much as he does. But I get needing space,” Lilah sighed. She hated to see Rory so upset, and she hated even more that it was because of Parker.
